Yeah you didn't read it wrong. 100k for poor mercedes who put an Ar-Ge, engineering, salaries, factories, electricity etc, 350K for the goverment :D And the minimum wage in Turkey is 250$. Fr, i never understood why car manufacturers cant just hire companies like Samsung or Apple ect, to build their screens for them. Like one of the main highlights of the EQS are the screens and yet they’re somehow 10 times laggier than a 10 year old Samsung phone. I cringe when these “technologically advanced” screens take a whole 3 seconds just to respond to a touch.

    This is crazy. I own a Tesla Model 3 that costed me 50k, carrying just the free Autopilot software (I am too cheap to pay extra for the more advanced packages) - and it drives WAY better. Going slowly in the traffic as shown in this video is trivial. And he says this system cannot even do tunnels !
    My Tesla drove me last week through a series of tunnels and bends on a busy highway at 150 km/h without a flinch. Dark tunnels alternating with bright sunshine - it was hard for me to see, but not for my car. Also drove me through heavy rainy nights; and even on unmarked pavements - always without a flinch. And it is not "the future", it is "the past" - I have been driving this car for two years already.
    Oh, sure, it does not allow you to play tetris while doing all that, and it does require you to periodically touch the wheel - but that is just a legal requirement (and a sensible idea as well...). It is not like you need to do anything to help her drive, it is just to check you did not pass out.
    But I guess Germany can decide their own regulations for they own cars as they want them to be.

    • @XBlomborX
      @XBlomborX 2 года назад

      The capabilities shown in the video are whats legally possible in germany atm. From there, the gov will allow more functions step by step. So its not all the system could do. Their are two approaches to autonomous driving. There is the tesla approach: full public beta test and no redundancies and there is the german approach with multiple redundancies, mapping, verification by the state etc etc. Btw, the tesla "auto pilot" would not be able to be varified even for the limited capabilities shown in the video. Like it or not that's how it is done in germany.

      @@XBlomborX This comment has little to do with what I said - it sounds more like an attempt at muddying the waters.
      1) I was talking about the actual technical capabilities of existing vehicles, not local regulations
      2) The functionalities of my car are not "beta" - they are the standard, FREE baseline, and I SAID IT. You get much better stuff it you just add 4kE, and is still not "beta", it is fully production stuff, and legal to use in most countries. (The beta release is still much beyond that, but that is beside the point.)
      3) As far as I know, Tesla is legal in Germany as well anyway, so I don't see your point about "legally possible" ? Or did they just decide to ban Teslas altogether, out of despair that their auto industry will ever be able to compete ? Maybe I have missed the news.

    • @XBlomborX
      @XBlomborX 2 года назад +1

      @@giovannipu ok cowboy. You were talking about the capabilities shown in the video. I said, that the things shown are probably not equal to the things the system is capable of. I also explained the different approaches automotive companies take, to test/refine/publish their auto pilot systems. Nothing more nothing less. I never said that the system from Mercedes is better the the one from Tesla. I think tesla cars are head when it comes to driving entire routes by itself but the saftey aspect is (at least from my perspective) a bit scetchy. Redundancy is key. The camera only approach is not for me. Lets be honest the auto pilot is a beta even for the public releases. No oversight and customers are the only people who test/refine the system.
      No tesla cars are not banned in germany but you are always required to be able intervene at any time. That's different with the Mercedes system. With their system, you are legally allowed to take the eyes of the road.
      Bro, i couldnt care less about your opinion about german car makers. I dont have any stakes in this stuff. I buy the car I like the most. Why should I be loyal to a certain brand? They dont pay me for this. But you seem to be super butthurt when somebody does not praise Tesla and the lord and savior Elon. Typical fanboy stuff. Grow up.

      I mean, it will happen, at some point in time it will be illegal to drive your car manually. If you can remove human driver as a variable, you can literally remove all road signs, traffic lights and so on, while getting huge boost in travel speeds as everything could be optimized to a nano second while being allot more safer than it is now. This is coming, will take few decades before it happens, but it will happen, its just natural technological progression.
      You will still be able to drive your car in dedicated areas, its in a sense same thing as it is with riding a horse, in general you have no right to do so in a city without special permission, you are more free to do it outside city, but still, not that any these days wants to actually ride a horse, in few decades not so many will want to actually drive a car manually ether, there will be few who will want that, but technologies are been adapted to the majority.

    Imagine when you get to the point where your life has so much going on at once where you can’t take the time to focus and drive for 20 minutes.
