Dark tunnels alternating with bright sunshine - it was hard for me to see, but not for my car. Also drove me through heavy rainy nights; and even on unmarked pavements - always without a flinch. @@giovannipu ok cowboy. You were talking about the capabilities shown in the video. I said, that the things shown are probably not equal to the things the system is capable of. I also explained the different approaches automotive companies take, to test/refine/publish their auto pilot systems. Nothing more nothing less. I never said that the system from Mercedes is better the the one from Tesla. I think tesla cars are head when it comes to driving entire routes by itself but the saftey aspect is (at least from my perspective) a bit scetchy. Redundancy is key. The camera only approach is not for me. Lets be honest the auto pilot is a beta even for the public releases. No oversight and customers are the only people who test/refine the system. No tesla cars are not banned in germany but you are always required to be able intervene at any time. That's different with the Mercedes system. There is difference between enjoying driving a car and driving it because you need to. if you want to enjoy it, cool, take full control and go for it, but if you need to go on a straight line for next 4 hours, you would rather enable Auto pilot and enjoy something else. While I like driving my car and i'm doing that like 99.9% of time, that 0.01% of time when i'm not behind wheel, it's really nice, i can relax and enjoy it more freely, look around, be relaxed and not stare into a grey road all the time. @@Zripas I mean you’re right. Im mostly just scared of a push to make all cars autonomous with no driver input, I dunno how realistic it is but it’s possible
@@oliverhayesthecreator4988 I mean, it will happen, at some point in time it will be illegal to drive your car manually. If you can remove human driver as a variable, you can literally remove all road signs, traffic lights and so on, while getting huge boost in travel speeds as everything could be optimized to a nano second while being allot more safer than it is now. This is coming, will take few decades before it happens, but it will happen, its just natural technological progression. You will still be able to drive your car in dedicated areas, its in a sense same thing as it is with riding a horse, in general you have no right to do so in a city without special permission, you are more free to do it outside city, but still, not that any these days wants to actually ride a horse, in few decades not so many will want to actually drive a car manually ether, there will be few who will want that, but technologies are been adapted to the majority.
Imagine when you get to the point where your life has so much going on at once where you can’t take the time to focus and drive for 20 minutes. It looks fun to play a game during traffic hours. however, most of the newer Tesla models can do what you shown in this video, even without the FSD. You should show going from point A to point B including starting from your house, local street, emerging to Autobahn, exiting Autobahn, local street, to the destination. Nevertheless, It is a very beautiful car.
Yeah but come on, it's way off beeing even just close to perfect ! It's allways on the brink getting you into an accident, so where is the point if you constantly have to watch what the car is doing ? Just saw a video by die hard Tesla Fan Kim Yaver or whatever her name is saying less and less people are using FSD because of that and even more less people are purchasing it in the first place . There is a reason Elon keeps rising the price until nobody can afford it anymore.... Elon kepps saying it will be done by the end of the year, but he said that 2019, 2020, 2021 and now 2022.... Remember "Autonomy Day" ? Shouldn't we have Tesla Robo-Taxis driving around since 2020 ?
Agreed. Up to 37 km/h? That's ridiculous. Only useful for the handful of people that live in extreme traffic areas. For the rest of us is useless. I honestly think it's a little shameless of Merc to even say anything about it. Announce it when it can compete with Testa, otherwise keep it quiet. You guys are supposed to be the best of the best.
I drive a tesla and a lot of people tell me they don't trust the car driving itself. I always say the car is safer driving itself than any human. There are so many sensors that are ALWAYS paying attention where as a human can take their eyes off the road for a few seconds because of a text and end up having a wreck. There's still a lot of improvements that need to be had when it comes to autonomous driving but this is clearly where transportation is heading
This level of tech is starting to look more advanced than one would find in Tesla. Does the infotainment system by default come with RUclips and video streaming? Does it come with all those games? I really am starting to like the mercedes EQS.
@@orinrehorst6188 This is the Nvidia Drive platform. Not Mercedes. They purchased it and put it in their car.... But I agree, that Tesla, Mobileye, Nvidia, Waymo, Cruise, and all the people working on this should be supported to get to the end goal!!
Super cool about that not having to touch anything during the level 3 but my tesla can do a lot of that with the standard autopilot at a higher speed too. No games while driving but I wouldnt trade going 70mph for 37mph just to play games and not have to touch the wheel. Definitely would need to see it driving in a neighborhood because if it can only follow a highway lane they gonna need a little more to really show it off as a premium feature
You didn’t understand the point. The Tesla isn’t allowed to drive autonomously. If you crash while autopilot is on, YOU are responsible in court. Also Tesla Autopilot will never be completely safe. Mercedes does autonomous driving in a much safer and more controlled environment- and it is legal, unlike Tesla. If you crash your Mercedes while autopilot is on, Mercedes will be responsible, not you.
@@MaticTheProto ahh okay gotcha. That's a good point, I didn't know about that difference in terms of court. I thought even with Mercedes it would still be driver liable because you should be able to take control at any point just like with tesla. Thanks for that insight. I still stand on my opinion though that in terms of preference I'd rather have it terms of practicality for me for reasons like when I used to do my morning/ afternoon commute cruising at 60 while just only paying attention to cars instead of turning and breaking was amazing. Same with now I don't get into too much traffic because of the times I usually drive so the higher speed is nice. I think if Mercedes gets to higher speed legally definitely game changer especially if it's safer since that's what is most important at the end of the day.
You’re aware Tesla can drive around a city, make turns, navigate through tight spaces, change lanes, summon to you, right? My old crv with rudimentary lane assist can do what is shown in this video lol
@@ImKden I'm talking more about the interior build quality and materials... not so much the tech... I'm sure tesla puts all their money in tech and absolutely zero into interior design and build quality.
This is pretty cool, but if we are going for autonomous driving, wouldn’t it be more cost effective to ride a train? I guess it depends on the country, but coming from Japan most of the time, it’s far easier, faster, and cheaper to hop on a train. For the US I guess it’s cool if people could afford it. Unfortunately, maintenance is gonna cost an arm and a leg.
I live in EU and mostly move by car. When I do long distance then I usually drive a car there for convenience. I can set my own brakes and when I get to the destination, I can still move around with my own car. Whenever I want to leave, I can, with my own car. Money = Comfort
Train isn't feasible in a country like the US. Within small areas of the city but doesn't make sense for the entire country since it's so large. Cars and planes make sense.
Yes, the Nvidia Drive platform is progressing and some automakers are starting to buy it and put it in their cars. Good on Mercedes for buying this and putting it in their cars!!
I don't see any reason for excitation. There's no interaction with transverse Traffic, no navigation through parking lot and a lot of other things that autonomic cars should tackle. The only thing you can " get excited" about is that politicians and the police allowed you to take your hands of the wheels in that straight section, of course because of Mercedes lobbyists. The capabilities of this car does not exceed much that of other cars on the road today.
Honestly I would like control and drive my car, call me old fashion but I love to drive and rather not let a computer drive it for me. However autonomous driving level 2 is still fine as you still control and drive your car to quite a large extent.
You fail to see the purpose of this, now let us note that it is limited to 37mph, what does this mean? It means that it won't be useful for normal driving speeds as most roads are 45-55mph limited. Meaning the purpose of this, is situations where there is a lot of traffic, say in a morning rush hour commute heading into a city. You are tired, the traffic is slow/stop&go and you are more than likely wanting to do anything other than sit their and drive in traffic.

3) As far as I know, Tesla is legal in Germany as well anyway, so I don't see your point about "legally possible" ? Or did they just decide to ban Teslas altogether, out of despair that their auto industry will ever be able to compete ? Maybe I have missed the news.
With their system, you are legally allowed to take the eyes of the road.
Bro, i couldnt care less about your opinion about german car makers. I dont have any stakes in this stuff. I buy the car I like the most. Why should I be loyal to a certain brand? They dont pay me for this. But you seem to be super butthurt when somebody does not praise Tesla and the lord and savior Elon. Typical fanboy stuff. Grow up.

It's an option.
@@Zripas I mean you’re right. Im mostly just scared of a push to make all cars autonomous with no driver input, I dunno how realistic it is but it’s possible

I mean, it will happen, at some point in time it will be illegal to drive your car manually.
Very impressive showing with the traffic, shows that this tech will definitely be the future.. this is only the beginning stages, we will see some leaps I’m sure across all manufacturers in another 30 years.

That is not really true. The functions shown are whats legal in germany on public roads. So it does not show all the capabilities of the mercedes system. The Tesla "auto pilot" system is not legal in germany due to the regulations and safety concerns.

Dude, Tesla has been doing this for 8 years now, and it does it very very well on the highway. This is a gimmick. Im so disappointed in Mercedes.
@@noliva Tesla is Level 2 by their own admission .
@@djprojectusThat’s fine. But their Level 2 is 1000x more useful than the infantile Level 3 that Mercedes is propagating.
Is the S Class equal or better technology??
The best never rest.💯💖🇳🇬
it's self driving on the high way? what about crowded way with so many pedisterian and cycles? can EQS do it just like human driver?

the amount of distance from the front car is like 3 car length , that’s gonna clog up the roads , not very efficient.
is this only on highway?
Still prefer the gaming experience in the tesla plaid's ps5 level of performance and games, compatible with xbox or ps controller's
Dude I've been driving my Golf 6 and watching RUclips videos for years 🤣🤣🤣
Super cool about that not having to touch anything during the level 3 but my tesla can do a lot of that with the standard autopilot at a higher speed too.

Money = Comfort
No because a train is a fixed point you have to get to then go to another fixed point. Then finally head to your destination
Train isn't feasible in a country like the US. Within small areas of the city but doesn't make sense for the entire country since it's so large. Cars and planes make sense.
This is wowwww!! 😲Amanzing technology👍🏻👏👏👏
That augmented HUD is crazy
Mercedes is allways presenting the most useful technology of comfort, entertainment, safety and reliability 😁
"Reliability"

This would be great for crowded roads and long commutes in the mornings.
I agree, but still I would let the car to drive itself in a Traffic Jam.
