Thank you for this review. I just got this headset and I am loving it! My only gripe is that there is no indicator whatsoever (other than the depressed button) that the microphone is on mute. I miss the red LED on my old Cloud II wireless microphone. I wish a future firmware update could at least put a beep when toggling that mute button. Thanks for EQ settings too -- my headset sounds waaay clearer now.
Hey I just wanted to say that I have these new 2023’s I’m very very satisfied! If anyone tries them and wants to return due to clamping and no option yet for aftermarket replacement ear pads - try stretching out the headset/bending it outwards a bit. be careful and don’t overdo it so it still holds on to your head pretty well but if you do, don’t trip, it’ll go back too by bending a bit. Also the mic on this set is sick seriously.
6 days in and my Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 started having a persistent white noise/buzz issue. 3 Hours on live chat with razer support and the consensus was get a refund. Extremely disappointed. Corsair 'hear' I come.

This mic sounds pretty good. I have the Kaira Pro for my xbox and the mic seems to pick up EVERYTHING. I hope with the new headset they've corrected that.

Jeesus. the mic quality difference is like buying a used pair from Wish vs the Premium version. They could have at least changed the name to 2.1 or something. This is stupid that if you don't know any better you would buy the older version that is so much worse. Not to mention the 24h vs 70h battery (I knew about this but did not know the mic quality was so much worse, which is the main reason I ordered them for). Since Razer support won’t help maybe you can? I recently bought this headset to use on my ps5, I tried doing a mic test and all I get is cracking sounds with no movement on the sound bar. When I unplug the dongle the bar moves but I can’t hear anything since ps5 isn’t Bluetooth compatible. I tried cleaning the mic and everything there’s just no fix. Does this have to do with updating or synapse ? If so what do I do cause I don’t have a gaming pc

My 2023 mic is broken, can i use the 2020mic and get the same noise cancelling microphone? Because currently they dont sell the 2023 mic, and i already tried using 3.5mm trs generic mic that does work but noise cancelling is not working, it pickup all unwanted sound around, even if i set the noise cancelling mic to the max.
So I went to Best Buy and for some reason the price is 20$ less for 2020 version and I didn’t know so I got it and it’s horrible 180 for the old one and 200 for the new one so I basically got scammed I realized and the receipt disappeared even tho I had two from that day I lost that one
I've watched your BS V2 2023 review and as far I can see, especially with this earcup design, I think it's safe bet to say that BS V2 are Razer Barracuda (without X) with better AMP and mic quality. You've reviewed both headsets, can you confirm my assumptions? BTW. On my laptop Razer Synapse works good with my mouse and headset. It had a minor hiccup with connection, but this was mostly while plug-in dongle

Bought 2020 version but I didn’t know there were newer version with the same name. Damn you Razer you even put the same version on them. The good news is that I got them for 80 dollars on Black Friday, but I am still not really happy with the microphone quality and that they don’t have bluetooth.
It feels very similar but on my old Blackshark v2 Pro, the older one had a slightly thicker pad over the baffle. The new one has a slightly thinner pad, but the ear pad itself that touches your ear is more dense on the newer one.

Thanks for this video super helpful. The Micophone sucks on the old black shark. I am just going to get a stand alone boom mic. Also the sound and Mount 9f fiddling I did to make it sound even mildly decent was too much. The razer softwares sucked too. I used to do Logitech and it was basically plug and play no fiddling and mic was good l. Problem is I would drop them lots and I broke two pairs. The black shark is not gonna break from dropping.

Hi boss, not sure if its my copy or all the 2023 models are like this, I only have the arctis nova pro wireless for reference which had no issues like this, but I feel like I have an insane amount of static/buzzing going on with the Blacksharks. When nothing is playing its always buzzing enough to be annoying and then when any app is about to play sound or listen to the mic it will ramp up to another level, so much that I hear it constantly while listening to youtube videos at a comfortable volume. When I close the app/window playing or using mic it almost sound like it clicks off and goes back to the lower buzzing level. Is this just a normal thing with most wireless headsets or does it sound as unreasonable as it feels?
I've heard more than one report of this. Seems to be that some people are indeed having buzzing issues. Try turning off your mic side tone to see if it goes away. Hopefully that works, but if not, then you may have a defective unit.
@sz8537 The battery is extremely good, I only have to charge it once every 2 weeks or so, mic is good too. The only downside I found so far is that sometimes there's a constant noise when you're not listening to anything and wearing the headset, it can be a bit annoying
I wonder if they fixed the sidetone volume too low issue? I have the old one and I cannot hear myself when I'm in noisy game. Trying to find the answer but no one yet to answer this one.

@IssacharLee yeah this is the 1st headset I've used that had a bad sidetone sound. I usually either get great sidetone or can't even hear it. These you can hear clearly. But the best way to describe it is it sounds kind of robotic or like someone is talking on a walkie-talkie. I also own audeze maxwell and the nova pro wireless. So I don't care all that much. But I think you'll get use to it after awhile

The 2020 version has a 3.5mm aux so it can be connected passively to an Xbox controller, while the 2023 has Bluetooth instead. 20+ hours is more than enough, nobody games for that long. I Just got the cheaper version. I'll live with leaving it to charge between sessions...
I think about it often. Only issue though is time and $$$$$.... $$$. lol. I wouldn't want to cheap out and take shortcuts, so I doubt I'd make anything for the public in a long time. One day!
I am utterly disgusted by the Razer synapse software. I spent $3,400 on the new 16in and picked up Razer mouse and black shark pro headset. The synapse software cannot reliably load profiles for the mouse, the keyboard, lighting, the headset EQ... It's a major disappointment. Given that pretty much all of razors products rely on the synapse software to work properly, I can't recommend anything they are putting out right now until they fix this. I am about to return this Black Shark pro V2 and pay the extra money for the Turtle Beach. Am I wrong?
I mean, I had some issues with Synapse not working right for me either. When it works it's great, but when I get on at night to play a game, I just want things to work
The old ones have 3.5mm aux which allows them to work with the Xbox as well. Weird that they got rid of it, Bluetooth is not enough to compensate for that. Micro-USB is a travesty, though. Lucky we have magnetic cable connectors these days to work around this problem
DONT BUY THIS HEADET!! it is the worst quality headset i ever had. yes the drivers and mic is good. but the quality is sh*t, it breaks after weeks. mine broke after 4 weeks, never dropped it always treated with care and it broke out of nowhere after 4 weeks. i contacted razer they said its my own fault and that it doesnt break out of nowhere. while it clearly a quality issue/factory issue. they have a sh*t customer service too. i have the normal blackshark v2 for almost 3 years now dropped it so much because of the cable getting stuck under my chair. it still works perfectly. and this v2 pro broke out of nowhere after 4 weeks without dropping it once. choice is yours im just warning. i just lost 300 dollar because of this piece of sh*t headset dont make same mistake as me :)

Razer headsets is dog shit, and the Blackshark v2 pro is no exception. Bloated bass, muddy cluttered sound quality, harsh & sibilant high frequency, average imaging, and narrow soundstage.

The new side tone is much more loud but it doesn't sound as clear. It's almost robotic sounding but it is much louder than the old one

I have the Blackshark V2 wired - swapped a new pair of pads, and yes this is good enough for me to go wireless :D

It's not, unfortunately. You'd have to buy all the internal parts from the new one to make it work.

Yeah it's very similar to the regular wired Barracuda headsets that come with the USB DAC (sells for $100). Same design, driver, and ear cup

Try turning off you microphone sidetone using the Synapse software. It should fix it. If you still have a lot of noise, then yes I would return it.

Neither model had any real ANC. There is a mic setting to reduce background noise though, and that is present on the new one as well.

It is much louder. But the sidetone sound is pretty bad to be honest. But better than nothing I guess

Look u get 70 hours battery life , eqs better mic and bluetooth and Usb 2020 has micro and no bluetooth
2020 version has 24 hrs battery which sucks while new ones have 70 hrs basically its an investment hope u get it😊

Blackshark is better for the mic and comfort. It's more bass heavy. Nova 7 is a little more detailed and has better features for less money

I am utterly disgusted by the Razer synapse software. I spent $3,400 on the new 16in and picked up Razer mouse and black shark pro headset. The synapse software cannot reliably load profiles for the mouse, the keyboard, lighting, the headset EQ... It's a major disappointment. Given that pretty much all of razors products rely on the synapse software to work properly, I can't recommend anything they are putting out right now until they fix this. I am about to return this Black Shark pro V2 and pay the extra money for the Turtle Beach. Am I wrong?
I mean, I had some issues with Synapse not working right for me either. When it works it's great, but when I get on at night to play a game, I just want things to work
My old ass Razer Kraken from 2020 sounds better than the 2022 Blackshark V2 Pros its shameful

The old v2 shouldn’t exist in 2023. I have the newer ones and love them with Bluetooth and usb c connector. This should be standard nowadays.
The old ones have 3.5mm aux which allows them to work with the Xbox as well. Weird that they got rid of it, Bluetooth is not enough to compensate for that. Micro-USB is a travesty, though. Lucky we have magnetic cable connectors these days to work around this problem

DONT BUY THIS HEADET!! it is the worst quality headset i ever had. yes the drivers and mic is good. but the quality is sh*t, it breaks after weeks. mine broke after 4 weeks, never dropped it always treated with care and it broke out of nowhere after 4 weeks. i contacted razer they said its my own fault and that it doesnt break out of nowhere. while it clearly a quality issue/factory issue. they have a sh*t customer service too. i have the normal blackshark v2 for almost 3 years now dropped it so much because of the cable getting stuck under my chair. it still works perfectly. and this v2 pro broke out of nowhere after 4 weeks without dropping it once. choice is yours im just warning. i just lost 300 dollar because of this piece of sh*t headset dont make same mistake as me :)

Razer hasn’t been bad in a long time lol. They’re shitting on everyone else in the mouse game, this headset with the upgraded mic beats anything as well.
Razer headsets is dog shit, and the Blackshark v2 pro is no exception. Bloated bass, muddy cluttered sound quality, harsh & sibilant high frequency, average imaging, and narrow soundstage.
