    I'm Dutch, 54 yrs and lived all my life in the Netherlands, but I can't get used to the Dutch weather! I LOVE HOLLAND BUT I HATE THE CLIMATE HERE!😂

      I think it depends. I have been multiple times in warm countries but the only reason why I was able to handle that for longer time is because of the airconditioning XD. I like the climate that we have because I don't need airco most of the times. I work outside and I don't mind that much, but the most annoying might be the rain, but it rains in other places too.

    This is a very eye opening insight how it is to live in the Netherlands as a Immigrant especially from south america. It almost sounds like a 180 degrees turnover.
    for things like for example the weather. It must have been quite the culture shock right. If I may put you on the spot... Would you reccomend living in the Netherlands?
    As always thank you for this wonderful honest view and content.

      Weather is not a cultural phenomenon 😊

    • @vitaaccount3058
      @vitaaccount3058 Год назад +2

      If your from south america the weather ties in to the culture. Most cultural activities take place outside. And in Holland taking a 'terassje' is only possible when the weather is good. And a 'terrasje' is a cultural thing. So weather is definitly part of how to approach the dutch culture. Is what I think@@Bramfly

      @@vitaaccount3058 Weather does not tie into the culture. Weather doesn't dictate culture. It may influence your lifestyle, but lifestyle doesn't equal culture. "Terrasje pikken" is not a cultural thing. It's a way to spend some fun time with family or friends, but it is not a cultural event.

    The colder the winter, the more you appreaciate spring and summer. Also you are a bit unlucky as 2023 was the year with most rain on record in The Netherlands.

    It's not only in the big cities that Dutch people can speak English that's really nonsense. In all of the Netherlands children start to learn English at a young age..

    • @DuaneandIsa
      @DuaneandIsa  Год назад +1

      True, Patrick, everyone speaks English, but some people still expect you to speak Dutch and not only English (which is understandable). And when it is about jobs, only in the big cities a newcomer would find it easier only with English.

    • @patrickhendrikskingston9303
      @patrickhendrikskingston9303 11 месяцев назад

      @DuaneandIsa I don't think that's true, but then again would I find a job in an English speaking country when I don't speak English?

      There is a lot of drugs relatd crime. Almost all of the drugs for Europe come in via the Rotterdam harbour.. also is the Netherlands the largest producent of xtc.. but out in the streets it's still rather save. Only nowadays drug gangs are hiring young kids to place explosives at concurrents houses.. only this weekend already ten explosions at houses..

      not here to be schooling you but pls call us a dutch person or non dutch person , Holland are the 2 provinces in the west of the Netherlands North/South Holland , the people living elsewhere prefer not to be called Hollanders . They basically identity themselves as either Dutch , foreign and or proud province people for example : Brabanders , Limburger or in my case Frisian and you even got region based identifyers , like Tukkers or Achterhoekers

    The Netherlands is the most racist country in Europe. I have heard a lot and have also experienced racism in the Netherlands. But I also don't know whether they are racist only towards Indonesians like me or towards all foreigners living in that country.

    • @williamgeardener2509
      @williamgeardener2509 Год назад +2

      Racism is an issue in the Netherlands. It's partly due to xenophobia, partly due to foreigners refusing to integrate in Dutch society. There's a running joke: What are the first Dutch words an immigrant knows?
      1. Racism
      2. Discrimination
      3. I have rights!!!

      @@williamgeardener2509 If your younger than 40 years, than the answer on your question is definitely YES. Certainly, since I never stated that there is NO racism in the Netherlands. LOL
      Of course there is racism in the Netherlands. I've seen it and experienced it myself! Integration is in every country an issue, but it doesn't depend on the race. Right?
      Further, my last response wasn't meant for you, but for the topic starter, who stated "the Netherlands is the MOST racist country in Europe" and you as a born and bred Dutchy probably know more about racism in the Netherlands than me, when you only experienced it from the side lines.🥱
