Depressing nowadays to go to the track. I didn’t make it to the Meadowlands for a couple years, and didn’t even know they had put up a new grandstand and my heart sank looking across at the old grandstand at different parts I would stay depending on the meet. Look like a big Mausoleum.
he drove a really bad race in the NA Cup Elim, got him beat and missed the final. Matts was a fantastic horse, great gait, speed, and class, but he wasnt the toughest horse around and didnt like a lot of air with the best out there. Gilmour was said to be old school and stubborn, and Lachance was obviously in tune with him. I remember other times at 4 when Matts got beat when he had to park or work for it. Gilmour was more of a half mile track driver and by then, the big races were on bigger tracks with younger drivers. Just how it was. Gilmour was one of the best in his day, but that day had passed by then. Horses like On The Road Again could take the air that Gilmour showed him. Most cannot and Matts was one of those. If you watch the Confed Cup elim, you will see Lachance sat in with him and came late to make the final, and that is the type of trip he needed.
@@mmdeutsch are you joking?? hahahaha . you might want to go back and look at some of matts races there guy. the cornell, the gold cup. that horse would beat you taking all the air in the world. when he got a trip he would ANNIHILATE you. he was tough as fucking nails. in the confederation cup elimination he was in all sorts of traffic and went 5 wide in the stretch still almost getting up. you sound like a hater
Matts is the greatest I have ever seen!! His gait was the best!!!
the great Jody Mc on the mike
Matts Scooter was the Secretariat of standardbreds
Might be a good analogy. When he was on he was unbeatable
Nice to see people in the stands!
