It's a very weird situation when it was JAPAN that started WW2 in the East, slaughtering millions and performing unmentionable atrocities against Europeans wherever they encountered them throughout Asia, turning them into POWs while China committed no such acts at all and was a victim. Yet, the West has turned the World upside down since.
While the West mistake China's progress as that of Japan's and praises Japan for it, on the flip side, they would take scenes from some random run-down old street in Hong Kong or the backstreets of some Western old Chinatowns (eg in Chicago) as being representative of China.
    Confirmation bias by the West?
Western original racial prejudice against the Chinese (a'la The Yellow Peril) because the Chinese refuse to bow down in submission to the West and want to be independent and truly free to lead their own lives and future?

The answer is simple, Japan is viewed as being conquered by the West, while China is viewed as the one that may potentially conquering the West. Historically it shows the same thing, even the Mongols and the Manchurians who have ruled China for a period, they became part of the Chinese Culture and part of China, not the other way around. Japanese culture are heavily influenced by Chinese culture, their Kanji is basically Chinese writings.

I live in Australia. Japan was the only country that invaded Australia in history. China never invaded Australia but it was Australian army who invaded China in 1900 as part of the English army.
Now China is the largest trading partner of Australia and always show its friendliness to Australia. However, Australians seem have no issue with Japan and even be very friendly but always see China as their biggest threat and preparing war with China. There must be something wrong in Australian's education system or the information spread throughout the country. Who is doing that and why? What's their purpose to twist Australian's cognition? Australian and westerners are very proud of what they called critical thinking but I don't see any thing like that here in Australia.

it would be great if you looked into the MSG vs Umami issue! For decades MSG has been pushed as a Chinese thing (when it was a Japanese invention and their product), it has been used since then to bring down Chinese cuisine, and all Chinese Restaurants in most of Western countries and other countries must put signs saying "NO MSG", while other restaurants don't need to.
Meanwhile Japan and the West have been pushing the new "flavour" UMAMI, which is nothing but all our body detecting the Glutamic Acid (the MSG is actually a combination of the Glutamic Acid with a salt in order to be able to produce it in a solid sellable form to add to the dishes)!!!
It is obvious how western mainstream media, press, tv, etc are pushing that new concept/word UMAMI, praising and glorifying it, and always mentioning it's a Japanese thing (as if it had never existed in History, we simply hadn't identified it yet)!
And it is SCANDALOUS how after decades STILL today we hear how horrible and dangerous MSG is and how it is some kind of a horrible CHINESE thing that only Chinese use etc
I've been sick of this for years, but now after this "Umami Hipocrisy" i can't take it anymore!

The Empire likes elevating its vassals onto a pedestal to illustrate not only its benevolence, but also its moral and intellectual superiority. • @HeidiKernstad
      @HeidiKernstad 19 дней назад +25

      *Exactly* *this*
I would add “cultural superiority” into the mix as well.
The reason many Westerners view Japan and South Korea as “near equals” and the “good Asians” is because they imitate Western-style “values” like “democracy” and “human rights” and “freedom of press.” (things the West likes to boast and preach about but doesn’t actually practice except when convenient.)
This is why Westerners, especially Americans, who don’t know where Ukraine is on a map, and had never heard about the country before until 2022, suddenly started unquestioningly supporting Ukraine. Because they were told Ukraine was a freedom-loving democratic nation with freedom of press and LGBTQ rights, fighting against the backward conservatives authoritarian Russia.
Thus the Ukranians became the “good Slavs” and the Russians remained the “bad Slavs.”

It’s because the empire has been working so hard to promote and elevate these two countries to replace China for world supply chains. We all know that they can’t replace China. It’s so satisfying to see the empire cannot succeed so far. 😂

The bizarre difference in attitude with Westerners towards Japan and China remains insane to me as a person who lives in the West.
History aside, which many here in the West conveniently forget or absolutely know nothing about demonstrably(which is ironic here since the Japanese enslaved the Chinese, although Westerners pretend as if this history doesn't exist), both countries reside in the exact same region with other Asian countries geographically. They're all related to each other as people. The false choices between any of these nations in those regions is completely arbitrary.
Japan has no sovereignty. The same with South Korea, as many are now finding out, among others on the continent who are used as client and vassal states. The West desires to destroy Asia with endless color revolutions, coups, sanctions, false flags, terrorist uprisings, proxies, and endless propaganda. Where China and all these countries should all be as one, working together, as China, as many have mentioned here, is the most sovereign country, these divisions occur due to Western interference.
So the West must keep up the lies to their own citizenry in promotion of balkanization in all of Asia, while heightening tensions domestically so it grants consent for their masters' endless wars, coups, sanctions, and color revolutions. Suddenly, Taiwan is a country, Hong Kong is a country, South Korea is staging "martial law," and various other nations like Japan, Thailand and the Phillipines all need Western military installations and weapons to "defend" themselves against their own family in China. It's a disgrace.

I agree with most of what is said in this video, with two qualifications: (1) China really isn't "stubborn": it is simply pursuing its own path to economic development to serve its large population which until recently was very poor. Its economic rise, unfortunately, threatens our country (the U.S.) which exacts heavy penalties and tariffs on China to block its development. Unlike Japan or South Korea, China can push back, which looks "stubborn" to an unsympathetic Western press. This brings us to (2) Actually, the Western media became very negative about Japan during the 1980s when it appeared that it would overtake the US on the back of high-quality cars, electronics, etc. Only when Japan caved to US demands regarding its currency and instituting export constraints, and when Japan's bubble burst and went into more or less permanent decline, did the media once again produce positive images of the country.
In a word, we are able to praise Japan because we are no longer threatened by it. It lacks autonomy, is occupied, and is now defeated economically as well.

But u don't fool Asians that easily as we r capable of discerning differences between different Asian countries even some v subtle ones such certain clothing styles, cultural /traditional practices, architecture, etc.

I both like China and Japan, i must say, these people definitely blind on geography. If they know more about Japan, they wouldn't even want overpraising the country.
Those that hating China while loving Japan, i have a feeling half of them is self claimed proud Weeb, which Weeb on its original meaning is non-japanese that love anything about Japan and pretending to be japanese. even some of them i met is fanaticaly love Japan to death.

Since ancient time, the main goal of Chinese education has been moral development and character building, and the primary function of the government is to educate its citizen to be a proper human being, a gentleman. Learning skills and arts, etc follow after this, otherwise, whatever talents or skills etc acquired would be not only wasteful but dangerous. Among characters to be developed, to be cultivated, aside from various morality, some very obvious are hardworking, resilience, thriftiness( one may know, very much link to our modern ecological consciousness). When the West met East, I think, such traits struct terror in the West heart, since then, the West has made it a point to downgrade the Chinese. With its military superiority, we know what happened in what the west called "China's century of humiliation". They tried every means to dehumanize the Chinese. The condition at the time of multitude Chinese pitting hunger against human dignity. There are even the various Chinese exclusion acts in USA, Canada, Philippines etc denying them the right to earn simple livelihoods. Now that China has finally starting to come around, the West still refuse to acknowledge the Chinese glorious human dignity handed down by the thousands years of honing by its wise ancestors! Nowadays, It's hilarious how good products are advertised as made in Japan, when one can see all Chinese characters and even the place being in China😅

Its more complex than that, China's improvement was helped by Western inventions, some Westerners also provided relief to Chinese famines. However the West interventions in taiping rebellion, opium wars, corruption of officials, invasions, inflaming the civil war, was pretty negative.

So true. I have a lot of “Japan fanboys” friends who still think Japan today is somehow still in its prime from the 90s, where in reality the country has been in stagnation for 30+ years and still chewing on its “leftover glow stock” from its heydays.
On another note, the US actually had a brief period of anti Japanese sentiment back in the 80s when the Japanese economy was edging closer to that of the US, and Japanese cars were just started to coming to the US. people and the media hated this fact, lot of news media even covered stories of people smashing Toyotas in public, and Nissan was pressured to change its name to Datsun, and made in Japan was seen as a threat.
In summary, as long as the West sees you as a subservient of their interests, you will be left alone and praised, by the minute they feel any bit of “threat” to their dominance, then all gloves are off, you will be bashed to no end. So insecure and pathetic in my opinion

This “keep the US populace ignorant” policy of the USA media and leaders is achieving EXACTLY what it was intended for. Anyway the Americans are supremely ignorant of ANY country outside of the US. Their world evolve around the state (or area) that they find themselves in. Very provincial in mindset and exposure.

Japan's economy had been stagnant from 1994 to today, or for about 30 years.
GDP of Japan in 1994: $4.99 trillion
GDP of China in 1994: $0.564 trillion
GDP of Japan in 2024: $4.070 trillion
GDP of China in 2024: $18.24 trillion
    Japan's GDP went down: 0.226 X in the past 30 years. ↓
    China's GDP went up 31.34 X in the past 30 years. ↑

I have been Japan many times, visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Sapporo and several other cities. I must say that Japan is clean, food is good, people are also courteous and tried to help visitors as much as they could. They have very good work ethics. The only complaint is prices are expensive. My first visit to China was in 1980, when the country opened up. Then starting 2004 to 2018, I visited China almost once every three years. The development has been astounding, from underdeveloped to a super modern state. Its current status can compare much better than the West. The bottom line is that those who used China videos to market Japan, are simply too LAZY!
