I love your before and afters. You explain everything so well. I have heavily hooded eyes due to genetics and age. This surgery is something I hope to be able to do soon. Thanks as always for your videos!!

      Hi @hiteshharora5661,
Sorry, I only practice medicine in our offices in the East Coast of the US.
The cost of surgery varies among different surgeons. However, I advise you find a surgeon based on their expertise in eyelid surgery, which is perhaps the most precise cosmetic surgery as the margin for error is in mere millimeters. Also, paying for an expert and experienced eyelid surgeon may cost more initially, but if you choose a cheaper surgeon and complications occur, you will have to pay an eyelid specialist for costly revision surgery later on. I hope this clarifies things for you.

I inquired with a surgeon about bilateral lower lid blepharoplasty. She told me does not make the incision below the eye, she cuts a lateral incision on the outer corner of the eye. Have you heard of this approach?

      Hi @LenGreenblat,
There are variations of blepharoplasty to enhance the appearance of the eyes, but it isn't clear what exactly you are looking to treat. Accessing the fat pockets below the eyes that causes eye bags would be limited with an incision at the outer corners alone. I hope this clarifies things for you.

@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you Dr. Prasad. I'm looking to have the fat removed to treat my under eye bags. I asked her if she makes the incisions on the outside or on the inside of the lower eyes. She told me she makes incisions from the outer corners of the eyes. I can't understand how she can access the fat pads from the outer corners of the eyes. It is farther away from the under eyes. Have you ever heard of this technique? I can't find one medical article on blepharoplasty that mentions this technique. I am skeptical and considering another surgeon. Thank you again, Dr. Prasad.

      Hi@@LenGreenblat,
The transconjunctival blepharoplasty technique is my preferred approach to treating eye bags, where I leave a little fat behind to prevent a hollow appearance, and maintain a continuous contour between the lower eyelid, and the upper cheek, with no external incision, and no scar. It is a more proven technique. You can refer to this video about why I think it is the best approach to treat eye bags - ruclips.net/video/46Kp6ayfyzg/видео.html

@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you very much for informing me about this very important decision. I've been gathering information on this and you are the first surgeon I've heard mention leaving a little fat behind to prevent hollowness. I am also now in favor of the incisions behind the eyelids. Thank you very much for lending your expertise, Dr. Prasad. You are a gentleman and a scholar. I wish I lived in New York. You would be my first choice.

Dear sir my child have severe low muscle function ptosis doctor said he need sling surgery but it will last for 2-4 year only then he need another surgery is there any other way to last more 10-20 year????

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi @thetalesof_anupama8029,
Sorry to hear about your son's problem. While a frontalis sling procedure should last longer than 2-4 years, more than one ptosis correction surgery should be expected in a lifetime because of the wear and tear of daily opening and closing of the eyelids. Frontalis sling is a last resort procedure for little to no levator muscle function, so it's likely the only option. A ptosis examination is needed for a proper second opinion. I suggest you see another pediatric ophthalmologist, or an oculoplastic surgeon who operates on children to physically examine your son for a second opinion. I hope this helps you.

      Hi@@thetalesof_anupama8029,
It's important to remember that eyelid ptosis can affect a child's visual development if it's not corrected before age 6, so you still have time. I'm not familiar with pediatric ophthalmologists in India, or oculoplastic/oculofacial plastic surgeons in India who perform ptosis correction on infants and children, but these are the specialty surgeons you should seek to have this done. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Sir thank you for your kind reply one last question sir how long the sling surgery last ?? And in a lifetime highest how many times if need correction??

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD

      Hi@@thetalesof_anupama8029,
It is hard to give an exact number as longevity depends on the individual patient, as well as how the surgery was performed. My standard answer is to expect at least 3 ptosis correction surgeries in a lifetime: childhood, adulthood, and when older. There could be more as wear and tear due to constant blinking every day are hard to predict. I hope this clarifies things for you.
