I live in the village of Portmahomack, and this lighthouse is a great escape from it all, it is perched right on the edge of the land, you cannot go any further without swimming! The lighthouse is fully automated now, and the cottages next to it are now empty as far as I know, they're probably holiday cottages.
Yeah. The Tarbert Ness Peninsular is fairly remote. There is a village just down the road, but other than that there isn't much around here other than farmland. Pretty much all of scotland above inverness is fairly remote. The main road around the top of the country is apparently just a single-track road with passing places, although I've not been that far north, myself.
Unfortunately this lighthouse isn't one of the few that are open to the public, but I imagine the interior is quite similar to the lighthouse at Ardnamurchan point, which I have been inside; ruclips.net/video/yKVcoSTLih8/видео.html

Nice scenery but it's the inside of the lighthouse I wanted to see!
