Pareho din noong US presidential elections ng 1860 and 1912 na 2 independent presidential candidates yung lumaban sa pambato ng mga democrat at republican. In contemporary times, nagkaroon din ng independent candidates for US Presidential elections noong 1980 (John B. Anderson) and noong 1992 and 1996 (Ross Perot). Also, si Theodore Roosevelt naging independent presidential candidate sya noong US Presidential Elections noong 1912 kaso natalo sya kay Woodrow Wilson. Sa US Presidential Elections, there were 13 US presidential elections na may tumakbong independent US presidential candidate outside ng 2 ruling parties, these election years were 1832, 1848, 1856, 1860, 1872, 1892, 1912, 1924, 1948, 1968, 1980, 1992, and 1996.
