- Premiere Pro Quick Tips - Speed up editing
Hey Everyone -
Quick video today, hopping back on the Premiere editing videos, lots more to come (I have a bit more time then I did over the past couple weeks now!).
Today I am bringing you part 1 of these quick tips. There are a bunch of ways that I speed up my editing in Premiere Pro and the core of this is getting my hands off the mouse / trackpad and onto the keyboard as much as possible.
Quick tips today:
Zoom in and out of your timeline:
You can zoom into a frame level or out to see you whole timeline:
Press the "-" or "=" key while in the timeline area
Setting a new edit point at Playhead location:
Instead of using the razor, use this quick to quickly add edit points on your timeline where the playhead is located.
CMD+K or CTRL+K to add edit point on target clip at playhead location
Swap a clip location:
A lot of time I need to move clips around, if I do this just by selecting them and moving them I am going to destroy whatever I set them on. If I hold down CMD+Option or CTRL+ALT then I can swap the location and the timeline will move the adjacent clips with cutting them or leaving a gap in the timeline.
Thanks for watching everyone! You keep watching I'll keep making videos!

Great tips Bill keep them coming
Thanks Andrew- glad it was helpful
More great info, thank you!!
Welcome!
Current favourite for me for quid edits is CMD + D. Add the default transition to one or all clips selected.
Nice one
Great informative videos Bill. Do you have any workflows on color grading D-log or Cinelog in Premiere Pro ?
I will Morgan -
Thanks for this video. I have a question. What laptop with Windows 10 do you recommend for editing in Premiere Pro 2017?
Regards
Patrick
Is Premiere Pro only subscription based? I'm just a simple hobbiest putting together an occasional RUclips video. All is see are $20 or $30 a month subscription fees. Not ideal for my needs. And, I like to own software not rent it. Hoping there is a purchase option. Regardless Bill, I enjoy your videos.
jogforfitness For creative cloud it is subscription-based $20 a month if you are still in school or college and $50 a month for all else I believe… I pay 20 a-month as am still in school. I believe you can purchase CS6 (used) but it is old and not the new version… But creative cloud is completely worth it.
