When Petah was little her and Ani stopped to pet my dog Tora while walking Bidwell Parkway in Buffalo. I tried so hard to act like I didn't know who Ani was.
lol
That's adorable
I would have fan girl silently
I would have fan girled immediately!!! Loved her since the 90s!!
I've never listened to or seen Ani and not had smile on my face afterwards. She's the greatest singer/songwriter/activist of my generation.
So glad I got to see her so many times
i would say the same except that i'm bawling right now😂😭😂 such a beautiful song... & collaboration! 🎶💜🎶
@@jane2909 I have twice and it was phenomenal both times.
@@jane2909 Albums are good, but the stage is where her genius shines. Amazing live shows.
@@jane2909 , she is amazing live. You can still see her, she's still alive and kicking..
I opened for ani years and years ago and she was actually really nice. It was in Buffalo.
Why is this still so timely two decades after the start of the 21st century?
This song's amazing, you're both amazing
Ani will always have a special place in my heart. It's absolutely bizzare seeing her girl so big! It doesn't feel that long ago I was freaking out when I found she was pregnant. I truly love this woman and her colorful spirit.
I love how Petah is watching her mom sing. Very cute.
Not one, but *two* righteous babes!
This is such an anthem to me, to my sisters. You bless you Ani and Petah
Not quite logical, but I can appreciate the sentiment..
♥️♥️♥️
As a woman raising another woman in the South, THANK YOU.
Her daughter is adorable and Ani still knows how to rock it!
A true modern Blues song in every f'ing way.
Thoroughly Respect.
I love you Ani!
You got me through so many hard times, and there’s no one I think is more appropriate to listen to this morning than you.
I’ve been listening to your lyrics since I was 16, and I promise you, We will fight.
She's got an amazing band groovin' behind her!
Thank you! This is wonderful. I just found it and shared it with my kid. I've been a fan since I was a teen [43 now] and now my daughter [17] loves your art and music too. Gratitude and respect!
This is so relevant for women right now!!!
this is such a beautiful & powerful song!! & to see momma & daughter up on stage together is just awesome. ✨❤️✨
Her mother is an icon. I am jealous of this girl.
Love it ! After all theses years following your carreer and enjoying every albums this is just so beautiful to see you both performing together specially on such a very important song in those dark days where women right are regressing in teh USA and many other countries. Congrats to Petah !
Wow Petah is all growns up!!! How time flies!
Oh my god, she's so big now! I remember when you were pregnant with her, i can't believe how time has flown by.
I am bawling my fucking eyes out watching mama and babe xx
"I am my brothers keeper every chance I can"
It feels like just yesterday I saw her baby pictures, she's grown up beautifully Love you Ani
I just wrote an essay about this song for my English Composition class
Great energy. Great message. Great music.
Why am I just now finding out about you? Good heavens you are spectacular!
You live in a cave ?? Lol
All that matters is that you get to have her music in your life. 🤗❤
You have so much material! I’m jealous.
She's so beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes
grande donna ... sublime artista. Vera come poche...GRAZIE❤
Just found your music today(subscribed), and I like it, and feel a kindred spirit with it. Im teaching myself guitar and writing music and your sound is like what's in my head :)
Lucky you to discover Ani and have the pleasure of going through her discography. Back in ye olden times, we had to wait A WHOLE YEAR for a new album! Enjoy and be ready to feel like your life now has a soundtrack ❤️❤️❤️
Greetings Blessings from She 🙏✝️🌍
Thanks
Chills and thrills every time.
You've always been a Richous Babe, your talent is incredible and it sounds like your daughter has a beautiful voice as well ❣️
Would love to hear her sing Paradigm with Petah. Something full circle about it.
Omgoodness Ani I remember when you were pregnant with her. She's turning out to be quite a woman. Thank you for sharing this.
It seems like yesterday right?? How time flies!!
Beautiful
awesome
This is beautifully shot! Thank you, Ani!
your guys' voices sound awesome together. very cool
Okay first of all, what??? I was about that size when I started listening to your music!! Secondly, she did such a good job, I’m so happy for both of you. This just made my day :)))
Had the same thought! At that age "dilate" was my go-to preteen angsty song. So cool to see musicians raise musicians, activists raise activists. Give ya hope, u know?
Love you Ani. Can’t thank you enough. ❤️
Right on, sister
It looked/sounded like the crowd "woooooes" every time her daughter sang! Must have been an epic concert in person!
This is bloody gold!!!
I saw Ani in 2006 when she was bouncing around on stage pregnant with her. It's lovely to see them together singing like this. :)
Fillin' up those shoes quite nicely, Mama. Love you both!!
Love this song, love this great video and love Ani and her music!! Just started reading her memoir.

Just read New York Magazine article: 126 minutes with Ani DiFranco and had to watch you on RUclips. Where was I in the 90's that I never heard of you and I have lots of lesbian friends? Never too late...Bravo to your story and your relevant and pure lyrics.
Miss you shoe!
So good. SRS.
Amazing! Go Petah! This is how feminism is born!
I absolutely love Ani. I've seen her multiple times as I live in Rochester, next to Buffalo, NY, and every time made me feel connected to my like minded sisters and brothers of the world. A joy I needed a lot growing up gay in a small judgmental suburb. I appreciate and connect with her on so many levels. I am now a mother, too. I have been listening to Ani for about 20 years and the 1 thing I would change is the lyric that she feels like she has earned the right to choose. Like somehow women who are disabled or set workers who don't pay taxes haven't earned the right? I know that's not what she meant but my ears always perk up at that part and can't help but wonder what these right wing people would take from that... I don't know maybe I'm crazy
Sex workers...autocorrct lol
I too have been listening to Ani since I was a teenager (for 29 years now). And I hear you, I could see how that line could be interpreted that way. My takeaway on that part of the lyrics is that she may be referring to the patriarchal system ("the man") removing her right to choose, when she works as hard and has paid her dues as a man--in this case, growing up too quickly, working and paying taxes--and has the right to go to her doctor and choose to end a pregnancy or keep the baby as a civil right and private health decision. It's not up to politicians, judges or religious leaders who advocate archaic, oppressive and misogynistic control--no matter which party is in power--over women's bodies to make that decision. I love how music and all creative art forms can be interpreted in many different ways...it all depends on the eye of the beholder. I once heard an interview by a singer/songwriter who said, "People often ask me what I meant by particular lines in my songs. I tell them that it matters more to me what my song meant to them, because that is why I continue to write and sing. In a culture where divisions, public shaming and hatred of people different than us has become the norm, I believe music is a powerful tool that has the capacity to connect, heal, change, and unite us."
Love you, Ani! This is for you!
Inside Out
A pacifist I was,
a tyrant I am not
I'm just your average woman
Tied inside in knots
That up is down, right is wrong
And the spherical world is flat
That crazies run the game
and they're lining up to bat
When nobody is watching
They let in crazy Roy
Who wants to marry children
Believes it's his right as an overgrown boy
Nevermind their bodies aren't made
To bear a child themselves
He'll do it over and over
And put those girls through hell.
She won't have a choice
Because here Babies R US
And men want them cranked like no tomorrow
So the zealots have reason to cuss
And call them devils and trolls and thieves
And blame them for all time
The whores are running loose again
Won't somebody whip them in line?
'' we should never oppress and despose of our fetus as men have desposed of us '' Susan B Anthony
They're called MOTHER Earth and FATHER Time for a reason.
And? Let's hear you explain this...
We're not going back. At least in Illinois
Out-Fucking-Standing!! On behalf of humanity, thank you for raising a human being with the values that will only lend energy to the change that this world seems to constantly be fighting for.
Her daughter kind looks like Ani’s mom
How. Bizarre.
I feel like Petah can not have had the same experience growing up as Ani did. She's got this iconic mother, maybe some musical skills because of it. But what does she want for herself? She might not want to be a righteous babe, but so what?
I love Ani because of her music, her in-your-face activism, her "yeah, so what I can do it too," attitude to business. I am fascinated to see what path her daughter takes, but in the spirit of Ani, Petah's path will be her own. She will own her own path.
Wow....she's growing up fast......Don't have to tell you that, though......

Gawwwd, I remember when you were pregnant. When did I get old? Hahahaha...
I didn't know you had kin! 🎉
Applies to any choice related to your body
Works for me. I’m wicked awesome at playing the goddess. With a right to choose, we all agree. ~Matthew Peter Cichella
I wouldn't be here without shoe!
Had I not been able to have my 2 abortions, I wouldn’t be with the wonderful man that I’m with today, with my healthy daughter.
The 1st time-my boyfriend beat the shit outta me/gave me two black eyes, raped me, etc. & I ended up pregnant-as soon as I got off my birth control I’d been on since 14.
The 2nd time-I had cervical cancer & had to have an abortion.
We have to keep them safe & legal. We have to.
Where would Ani be, or any of us-if we were forced to have every unwanted child? It’d be terrible for the progress of humanity.
(& I don’t feel bad about my abortions-I believe in EdgarCayce’s theories on reincarnation.)
Thank you!!!! The Supreme Court thinks all women will have regrets so they want to protect us from ourselves. No two people have the same experience or get pregnant for the same reason. For them to think that we are all alike is discrimination and demeaning. I hate what happened to you and I applaud you making the right decision for your life and probably for the life of a child that might carry the face of the rapist. It is a myth that every woman falls in love with the baby they birthed. 35 years ago when a friend of mine had a miscarriage, much to my amazement, her baby's soul passed in front of my eyes and said "Tell her that was all I needed in order to complete my path to God". Maybe abortion is the way to move a soul closer to God or nirvana. That is just as plausible as any other theory.
One song she says the government is patriarchy. The next song she says to vote. What the fuck?
Full of hypocrisy, indeed.
Has Desantis heard this song?
Well, one thing is absolutely spot on- you don’t get to play God (even if you do). ..But aren’t we playing God by killing a life that didn’t have a voice on whether or not they could live before we snuffed it out? Ever face your choices head on come what may even if it’s scary? You know- own your choices- take responsibility for your own actions? Ever watch Juno? Are we blaming others for what we do? Is it a choice if we aren’t offering total support for a mother to keep their child first and foremost with abortion as an absolute last resort- not abortion as the current prevailing first option? We have an abortion because we’re selfish. We want to live and do whatever we want, no matter what the cost is to someone else. We are the ones playing God, not the government. The government is funding our right to play God and you’re fighting to keep that instead of fighting to help women make better choices by promoting women to be happy about and be responsible with the power they have to make a life that a man doesn’t. Even if that choice was that a woman could tie her tubes because she didn’t want a family? You loathe your period and being a woman. You’re not happy with what you’ve been given. You couldn’t play the cards you were dealt. Don’t lie. We don’t care about others at all when we choose abortion. I do see special circumstances- but that’s further in-between the lines of choice- assuming we had the choice to conceive to begin with. Ani- I can’t follow you these days. I would choose life first if it were my conscious fault and knew I had support. The rest would have followed. Children are a blessing, don’t EVER snuff the fire of your blessings or others’ blessings if you can. Someone wants and needs that child, just as you are wanted and needed too.
Couldn't have put it better 👍
Nepotism never worked with music either, Ani.
Glad to see you’re otherwise doing ok.
It would be so weird if Ani's daughter was a conservative republican -- moderate republican would be acceptable.
she’s thinking… #SaveTheBabies 🥺
It's spelled facist, they are creating laws to force beliefs on others. That's facism. And that makes those who follow that belief facist pigs.
@#CrittendenStreet @#UnbearablePain
sounds more like a political rally than a song
come on kid, you're not a statue, ya can dance next to your mom lol she's cute tho
I love her..but i wanna say how about instead of focusing on the RIGHT TO CHOOSE.. how about choose responsibility and birth control!!!
Right to choose includes access to birth control 🙄
Responsibility is a dirty word to these people.
Because women's right is under constant assault & for her entire career she's very clearly pro choice. Its called "Lost Woman Song" on her first album. Also she'd say why is birth control only women's responsibility. How about men take responsibility for their thoughts & actions, instead of laying all of it on us.
@Shinybeast liberty and freedom is lost on the ones who can't mind their business.
Absolutely.
How ironic, "you don't get to play God." Really? You literally want to kill your children. How is that not playing God?
I was really hoping to hear her daughter sing. But she stood lifeless next to her mom. :(
But, but, but she can't sing. Terrible voice.
