In my humble opinion, The Byrds and specifically Roger McGuinn were a significant part of shaping the music and fashion of the 1960s and rock n roll in general. They were the catalyst to show Bob Dylan what his songs could sound like. Taking Bob’s influential lyrics and pairing them with the Beatle Beat…transformed music which the Byrds repeated again with 8 miles high and subsequently with Sweetharts of the Rodeo. To see how the decade of the 1960s started and where it ended…..the whole world transformed from black white to color in every aspect of human existence on planet earth .
Not to mention their influence also echoed through the younger Generations as well. Arguably just as much as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, or Dylan. Band like REM, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the smiths and various other acts.
I wonder what it must be like to be a person in a band that is so well known in the world. You look back on things and see the world today and so much has changed. It must be interesting to be in these times now as an 80 year old. The Byrds were so great. Different. Such a great gift to our world.
It's amazing to listen to that song and still be able to feel its transcendent quality. I would think that after 77 takes, the performance would have been tired and spent. But, TTT is a timeless classic not only for the Byrds, that generation, but for the time in which people are now living. I would love to hear some of the versions that didn't make it.
Crosby did the vocal arrangements, which I saw McGuinn in a different interview say were essential to the Byrds vocal sound. McGuinn in that interview said that he and Gene always sang in unison while Crosby did the beautiful harmony parts.
What is this only guy that'll do any of these interviews That's all I ever see is Roger McGuinn boring we've heard the story a million times get someone else or don't post anything

Very well said and I totally agree there influence is still felt today
No shit?😮
On top of a very bar the Byrds themselves set, stands NBB
Hillman is the alpha and omega of eight miles high

Long Live the Music and Legacy of The Byrds 🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸🥁
This video was uploaded the same day David Crosby died. RIP (and also RIP Gene Clark and Michael Clarke).
77 takes to get Turn, Turn, Turn! Wow! That took dedication! Worth it, though

Excellent interview indeed.
Thank you so much 😍🌐🎶💖🔉🎶💖
The interviewer is alot more interested in pictures than music
I like the glasses. How rude of that fan to actually take them off of his face and steal them! Wow. Some people can be such animals.
Eric Burdon was an Animal. For example
Yeah, no class people, probably have a zero life!

👏👏👏👏
Thank you
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow
Soundgarden? Fellas, wake up
I want to hear some music about the Byrd's
If you guys had used the Wrecking Crew on Turn Turn, even if they did it in one take, I doubt it would have been cheaper than the 73 take Turn Turn
This interviewer is killing me. He’s so boring. He’s cast a death like pall over the pace and energy. Couldn’t they find some ecstasy for him
What a bore !!!
A real bore

@@green323turboThe interview was initiated by the release of an archival Photographic Book, what would you expect? 🤔
@@pacapaca6307 , Is the book not about the music too ?
