Starting Over - And buying my first all GOLD watch

- To you,
The idea of picking my favorite watch from the collection to keep, selling the rest, and starting the collection all over has always intrigued me. Its almost like tearing down your house and remodeling it afresh. Building it into the ultimate residence that you've always wanted. Despite the large amount of work/turnover/or cost there is a very gratifying conclusion, one that makes the effort all worth it. Possibly you relate to that. I've also have a long term goal of buying a full gold watch. After crossing 100k subscribers, I felt it was the ideal time to make these two ideas coincide. So that is what I have done. I kept my favorite watch (from my first 100k era) and have now paired it with with a new celebratory all gold purchase. I am now a two watch guy. I am VERY excited about the possibilities ahead as I ponder what to buy next. What watch or combination of watches will make my collection the ultimate collection for me? I look forward to methodically building the collection from a point of openness. Hopefully I will learn from past successes and mistakes. I'll of course be sharing this fun journey with you on my channel. Thanks for being part of it!
Cheers,
Bruce - Развлечения
Nearly spat my coffee out when you defined what you meant by long term. They will be lucky to last 6 months never mind 20 years
yeah, he will sell it..he's said the same thing time and again. No hate to him. But he's totally delusional. It's just been a never ending circle.
There is nothing logical in this hobby. Enjoy the ride and thank you for allowing me to be a small part of it.
the first time you buy something more than a 40$ big brand quartz time teller you're into illogical territory lol
I love it
maybe it's not logical, but chronological 😂
@@kkrsnn5632 good one
actually laughed out loud when you said you're looking for something to keep 20-30 years :D congrats on the new watch it's an absolute classic piece. I've been considering paring down recently as well I just have such a hard time letting go of most watches even though everytime I do I never regret it.
The Day Date really looks awesome, wear it in good health and happy times! Your move is a sign of maturity and a clearer perception of what YOU really want. I would no be surprised if decisions pertaining to other aspects of your life follow this approach or attitude. Coming back to watches I totally see you rocking a Blancpain Bathyscaphe in gold as a link in between the Pasha and the Day Date. A bold but an invigorating move, thank you for the great content!
Prediction: I think this will last in Bruce’s collection about the same as the Overseas.
Agreed. The VC breaks my heart. So hard to get and it was sold in such a short amount of time you wonder what was the real motivation to buy it in the first place.
I have been watching your videos for a while so I remember a couple of videos you made debating with your friends this move or something else. In my head I went, “oh he’s def gonna sell it all and get the day-date” it fits you a lot and congratulations, man! Excited to see how else the collection grows over time
I’m excited for you! Looking forward to seeing your new collection.
You go, Bruce! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
I love your enthusiasm, as always, Bruce! I’m glad you did this. Looking forward to seeing what you add next.
Love it! Glad you share all your stories with us Bruce. Keep up the great work!
Recently bought a 36mm gold day-date president with the diamond markers. But now can’t put it down! My other watches have been summoned to the bottom drawer and the gold president is the king! Absolutely timeless and gorgeous !
Yes!!! So pumped and proud of you Bruce. Such a bold, fun, and epic move. As much as we love them, watches are just things. And can be replaced, swapped, sold if we need/want. No rules! I just sold 4 to finally get my white dial Seamaster 300. And couldn’t be happier! That gold looks incredible on you brother. All the congrats. 🏆
Man, that is one stunning looking watch. Good for you, Bruce!
Totally understand I’m starting over now too! It’s great for sanity and getting an outside-in perspective while cutting through the noise.
I wanted to add my congrats for this amazing acquisition. I’m so thankful you are recording and vlogging your collecting journey as you have one of the most interesting ones. Added bonus: your purchasing history with OC T. has just gone through the roof. Well done! 🤙
Wow, you really did it Bruce! Love to hear what your thought process about purchasing after this, what will be the difference for you to choose a watch before and now you want to keep it for long term?
Anyway great job! I would never dare think about this move myself, but its nice to hear from all different side of watch collecting.
Congratulations Bruce! It’s looks great! That is a special watch. Get ready for some positive life changes that will come because of your new watch! Thanks for sharing.
Good for you Bruce! I'm excited to follow you on your journey. Can't wait to see what's next. You've definitely inspired me to do what I want with my collection. At the end of the day, I'm the one who is wearing the watch and spending my hard earned money on it. We do it because it's what we love! Keep it up brother!
It’s beautiful, Bruce. Congratulations! Looking forward to following your journey.
Very exciting stuff! Looking forward to your new adventure!
WOW. Congrats and excited to be on this new phase of your watch journey with you :)
Exciting stuff! Can´t wait for a detailed review!
So happy for you Bruce! You do you! It's a big move for you to start all over again with your watch collection, can't wait for your newer ones and/or watch reviews. You tell it like it is! I still love and miss the Overseas and the Sub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤
You got balls Bruce, props to you for letting go🙌🏼!
I totally feel you! I just traded my entire collection of Breitling, Zenith, and Longines (4 watches total) for my first Rolex. It’s not gold, just a no date Submariner but had the same idea. Consolidate and go bigger. Congrats!
Happy for you Bruce! Congratulations for this new journey. Enjoy and have fun. Nice DD !
Now that is a wrist I want to see a president on! Congrats on the 100k Bruce, your channel is solid gold:) And consolidating into an 18k is an absolutely valid, bold, and totally awesome way to mark a transition in a collecting journey.
Good for you, Bruce! Congratulations! A full gold watch speaks to me too and I hope to join your ranks soon.
Great step, great watch, great video. Thank you and enjoy
So happy you went full send!! Watch collecting is all about the journey!
Wow, this will get a lot of commentary! Good luck on the reboot! Fun video, Bruce. Curious-will your AD still enjoy selling New Rolex to you since you are selling some pretty amazing pieces? Or do you think it may impact access to buying future coveted models because you have a track record of selling them after you experience them? I wish you well on the next phase of your watch journey.
Super congrats on you YG DD. That has been my favorite all time watch dating back to my teens in the late 90s!!!
That’s beautiful!!! Congratulations!!!
Its beautiful, congrats on your new watch.
Congratulations on the piece!! It's truly beautiful!
You inspired me to let go of some of my watches I don’t wear that I’ve held onto for too long. Can’t wait to see what you add next and enjoy your new time piece Bruce!
What a beauty! Congrats on your new journey and what a way to start!
Man you are the most indecisive RUclipsr I know 😆 I don’t know how many times you’ve said, “this one I’m keeping forever!” Including that Sky Dweller. I think you’ll regret a few but that’s what makes your content unique even if it’s just silly
Well done Bruce!! Nice step forward!
That is an incredibly beautiful piece of art! Congrats on your purchase enjoy it for all of us!
Congratulations! Bold move full of excitement 🎉
Love it. Keep up the great content
congrats on the new watch, it's beautiful! Enjoy the fresh start!
I get this, I’ve done exactly the same. Built up a big collection and I’ve purged down to my Seiko Willard. It’s exciting for me because every time I purge I get closer to my perfect 3 watch collection
Congratulations on the new purchase, I understand where you are coming from Bruce, you taste watches, enjoy the experience then taste another. I feel like this is the best way to enjoy watches. Collecting watches unless they have a sentimental value just develops into hoarding. The way you operate you get to have an experience with them all. My recommendation for your next purchases is high horology and some cheap fun stuff on the lower end as always.. have fun!
This is the king of watches! Especially with the gold, the yellow gold that attracted the admiration since the early history. I wish you happy days to enjoy this excellent timepiece!!!!
Very enthusiastic presentation today! Nothing like going FULL SEND!
Congratulations on hitting 100,000 subscribers! I get blowing up your collection, good for you. No matter what do what brings you joy brother.
Congratulations! I just did the same thing for a Moser. Feels great and I'm enjoying a watch I never would've gotten to check out otherwise
It's a brand who has pieces worth making some sacrifices for (:
Beautiful watches great value and some more...
Congrats! Enjoy not only the new timepiece, but this new journey in good health!
Serious new timepiece! 🤩
Bruce, the only crazy thing you've done in my opinion is letting go of your Overseas! That being said, I like this move. I'm a fan of going the road less traveled, i.e. Overseas instead of royal oak/nautilus. And in this case, funky Cartier and a classic , but non-hype/non-sports watch from rolex. I'm a fan! Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
That’s gorgeous Bruce, congrats!
You were the first watch subscriber I had many years ago, I've been a student of yours and I'm not about to jump ship now. I understand what you are doing only because you have saw so many watches, you have more layers of decision making. Congrats, keep the journey fun and exciting my friend.
What a beauty!! Grail
The day date in gold is a great new start, it never gets old with time. Couldn’t have picked a more classic piece. Continue your journey. Great video and congratulations
Good for you Bruce. It’s your journey and you have the right to do it anyway you want. Great choice on the DayDate. Beautiful, timeless piece! I’m with you, choose pieces that you expect to hold for life 👊🏼
Enjoy your new journey!!!!!
Good for you Bruce. I think it's great
Great choice Bruce, congratulations!
Congrats man, truly
Congrats on the Day Date, Bruce. It is gorgeous and iconic. I've worked with scores of successful, wealthy business owners my entire career, and almost every one of my clients wears a yellow gold Day Date. I've always thought it was the perfect "end game" watch. Looking forward to a full review. Cheers!
Congrats on the purchase and on your journey into a more methodical collecting strategy. Looking forward to seeing what you do next.
I think this is a great move Bruce. You've used your old watches well, and can now enjoy something truly stunning, as well as your lovely Cartier keeper....
It's about the journey
That’s awesome -your journey is not scripted; so, whatever you do, enjoy it!
Congrats on 100k subs.
Congratulations,Bruce. Well done 👍
The smile on your face says it all, Bruce. Congratulations 🍾
Beautiful watch. Enjoy wearing.
Congratulations Bruce for the subs and the watch 🥳
Where did you sell your watches? That’s one reason I haven’t done something similar. It is a huge headache trying sell watches online and it is rife with danger. I too have thought about a solid gold watch, but if /when I ever do it, it’s definitely going to be the 50th anniversary gold Speedmaster, if I can find one….
Bruce will flip a watch before he even has it. Have fun! Great video!
Congratulations on a wonderful purchase. I’m at the same point as you. Keeping my bb58, bb36 and my Panerai 380
Congratulation - full yellow gold day date is awesome 😍
i felt your excitement and i literally smiled during the revealing. congrats!
Congrats!!!!
You do you! Enjoying the content.
I couldn’t do what you’re doing, but I respect your decision to do whatever you like with your collection, and whatever makes you happy. That’s what this hobby is all about.
Lovely two watch collection. Well done Bruce!
Exciting times ahead for you Bruce. Stella Roooooooolex.
Congratulation.. so happy for u🎉
Not rolling my eyes one bit. In fact inspired and happy for you and your new purchase. Have fun with this hobby and enjoy the phases I would say! Cheers!
Fuck yeah man. That thing is the grail man. Absolutely gorgeous.
Brave move !! Respect 👊
Congratulations, it’s a beautiful Watch!
Love it! Boss level
Congrats Bruce! Blowing up your collection and getting down to one watch is incredibly liberating. It's fun to do every now and then, then slowly build it back up. I blew up my collection last year. I sold my Rolex Explorer, two tone Explorer and Air-King. Sold my Omega Speedmaster and Planet Ocean. Then bought a black dial 42mm Explorer II. I'm not sure I'll add anything for a while, but it was nice to cash out a ton of money and to start fresh. I'm anxious to see where your collection goes. Gold Day-Date for the win!!
Congrats Bruce!!!
Good call. Food for thought. Been at an loss as of late with my collection and things are feeling a bit stale. This could be an avenue to explore.
I could never do this and I certainly wouldn’t buy the same watches but you look like a kid on Christmas morning and that’s great to see. I hope you can keep your powder dry until you choose the pieces you really want. Enjoy the ride.
“It’s not someday anymore, it’s today!” Congrats Bruce!!
Everyone all ends where they started...with one. You don't need a watch to tell time, you just need it to tell a story and one is all you need for that 💯
@@IDKline well, if you're popping 40k on a day date, it better tell more than just you paid 40k for it 😂
I started doing the same thing recently. Since my ultimate desire for watches through my collecting history has always been good water resistance, small size, durability (so that it can be worn more frequently without stressing as much over any scratches that might accrue) and *comfort,* I have started to sell off most of my pieces and have decided to just purchase the various different color models of the same watch that meets all of the above criteria. I currently have a stainless steel diver with a black dial and both a stainless steel bezel and a black bezel (they're easily changeable); an all black (almost vanta black) model with a dark blue to black dial and black bezel; and will soon be getting the gold/bronze model!
I still have one more piece to sell but am just about to reach the finish line! I am rather excited about essentially finishing my collection for a while =).
Bruce, I Am so happy and excited for you! Kudos to you brother! I have a few watches as well, but I’ve always wanted a Rolex, day and date. I finally got it, through trading 5 watches for it, and a little cash. I got a vintage piece made in 1967! It’s a beauty, keeps great time, and I love mine. It’s a 1803, with a acrylic crystal, but I’ve always wanted one, and have loved it since I’ve gotten it! It’s not for sale, probably will for sure hand it down. But enjoy yours, I’m stoked for you brother!👍😊😊😊Matt
Congratulations Bruce !!
CheersMan WOW WELL DONE. Oh & Thoroughly Enjoyed U on OISINS SHOW. 😎🦈
I’ve been thinking of same thing but “that time” still yet to come for me. A couple of years back, I tend to love bigger watches (43-45mm), but now towards smaller ones in the 39-41 range. I already started to let go my old collection yet one by one, to “wait and see” if I see any regret. So far so good.
After watching this video, I feel like doing the same bold move to get my grail, the blue dial daytona in white gold. Such a phenomenal watch! ❤
Congrats mate!!
Love a breakdown of what you sold and rough prices if you would be comfortable!!
Congrats again!!!
Hi Bruce, I’ve done the same! Not a gold watch but I’ve gone down to 2. After years of getting slightly obsessed with the hobby I sold everything and now have a breitling colt 41 with a grey dial and a Rolex explorer 2 16570 black dial. It feels great. Good luck with this new journey
Solid choices!!
superb choice ,congrats Bruce
