@@viberbreadi'm literally doing in "solo" mode a full game, i think it's cool. Basically the main concept is you are in a post apocaliptic small town, around everywere are enemies (with their own characteristics ofc) theres guns, and threse is probable be small missions, and a boss to when be defeated you go to another map (i plan make 7), the main thing about the maps is that they are big and detailed, telling you the history. I have everything, but i'm struggling with the guns and how to make missions. Because i don't know scripting
My best advice here to contribute would be organizing all your thoughts. It's really easy to add on something just because it's cool or immediately go onto making things for the hell of it but you have to have some foundations first. Whether that'd be actual scripting knowledge or getting a scripted foundation in or planning it out with something like Google Slides which was most helpful to me.

This was actually helpful for someone like me who’s looking to build a game. Everytime I need help on a Roblox game, I always come to this channel. W Smarty chain ❤
just to note, in psychology, if you put meaning to something, basically your game concept, if you put meaning and a story to it then you will have a better chance at actually finishing it
Thank you so much. Whenever I tried making a game I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and it became very overwhelming and confusing so I just gave up. I’m definitely going to use your advice so credits to you if I actually make a decent game that gets players ❤😂
Ive never scripted before.. Knows notHIN about Studio- but me and my friend have been diving head first into making a game recently and im very excited to see where it goes :D I've also broke off for a bit and started learning on my own time making another. Lot of info but its honestly fun
Well...I am a new developer currently im making a game by watching some of yours and others tutorials but there is still a fear in me that make game will never be famous but this video taught me a lot i literally typed roblox studio and this video showed up. Thanks ❤ ngl 6:47 was really funny 😂
I know I am seeing this 2 months late but this video is probably the best video on game development I have seen thanks for the help. You made me realize that I was building my game completely wrong thank you so much
wow i didnt expect this video to be so insightful and well-articulated! i myself just released a new remaster of a game last month and myself have been struggling to expand the concurrent player amounts from max 2-3 players! been a dev for 2 years and through all these years ive really learnt how little i know
Yo, i have been planning to make a game but i was so confused with all the ideas coming and how i can put them to place, but watching this video made me more confident than ever, and i have started the delopment today!
My idea is a car game but it includes cars that are rarely seen on games not just on Roblox. There will be a lot of customisability. There will be a little side story that is a war between brands that will lead to the development of a limited car depending on who wins that will be given to all players that played at the time. Other limiteds will just be in the shops or for events. This is all I’ve planned so far!
Honestly, as a developer with zero experience this helped alot and for me it isn't about how famous my game will be but seeing my ideas come to life, I'm planning to make a simple red vs blue game but a bit better, itll be like the current game Centaura but modern. There will just be one map but if become experienced enough I could make entire lore with new battles but for now itll just be premade characters with smooth running, walking, and crouching animations fighting on a capture a hill map with rounds. I'm also planning to add tanks and vehicles but I'm not experienced enough so that would have to wait.
Bro once again comes out with amazing content! I will say it every time! Thank you so much for everything! You help small developers like us so much! I’m working on a game right now and this will help so much! Have a great day/night dude!!
Hello lads! Game Designer and Professional in the industry here. Most of what this video says is absolutely correct and very important to remember. Although some of the terms he uses are wrong, it is still a great video. One of the most important things here is not to be over ambitious, from what I've seen from my buds at roblox, most teams tend to dream more than they make, avoid that and keep it simple first. Always have a realistic idea about what you are making instead of just dreaming about it and making it an unachievable goal. Make sure it's something you can actually accomplish!
Me and my friend want to start a game about liminal spaces and this video will help us improve and continue with our project. Thank you for making this video!
I have a amazing idea of making a 2d platforming game with unique sword animations, and movement animations. There would be different powerup you can get from different levels (double jump, the ability to phase through objects you normally couldn't to get to secret rooms to get items, dash, etc). It would be much like Hollowknight, if you know what that is. The problem being. I don't know how to animate, make a inventory system, or make good items. This idea has just been sitting in my head while I hope someone out there makes it. I feel like 2d platforming games on Roblox or 2d games in general could be a whole new popular genre on Roblox. The standout feature of the game would be the hard boss fights, and combat system. I love this video, and hopefully I can put some of your tips if not all to good use some day. Thanks!
Idk about my idea but tell me your thoughts: • you know those "feed your dog at 3 am" or "get a divorce at 3 am" games? thats the base • it'll be called "feed your frog at 1 am" • there will be many badges with different endings • it will be comedy-adventure game • VERY satire (heavy on the satire part)
the part where you said you develop games not make games really stuck out to me. it made me think of the word "developer" more. "game developer". you start out small and develop your game and add things to it over time, like jailbreak.
Let's go I've been making a game for a year now and I've been expanding the story even though the story has nothing to do with the gameplay or the reason you would play the game in general, I keep adding clues to why my game is a thing a world. This game is on my channel.
i dont care if my game doesnt get popular i just wanna make a solo player story to play thanks for this video! once i finish my new game i have in mind i will for sure let other people play it and hopefully it wont be dead..
Any more recommendations for project organizers? I've heard of obsidian vault and notion. I'm looking for something that's not only friendly in making a projects creation path easy to see but also for showing other people and them being able to understand it clearly
Damn man thank you for this. Ive been working on a game for 2 months and ive lost all motivation to finish it, aftrt watching this video gave me the motivation for one last push to get this damn game released.
Recently started making a game with my and a friend of mine, first game were ever going to make so that means we have to learn scripting, building ect.
Very interesting, definitely an excellent idea to make your game even better for your targeted audience, But we all know Roblox unfortunately doesn’t have every kind of audience, for example.. horror games, like the mimic, it’s has a limited player count due to the limited audience, so how would I know if my game or anybody else’s game would have a limited player count due to the limited audience that they are targeting, and could this limited barrier be broken somehow?
Love how i’m watching this but i have no idea about scripting, building etc, i’m just gonna pay somebody to do a game for me (if it works and if i find someone on fiverr)
nice, but as some critism from a fellow developer as well: it’s a long ass video. I could guarantee you half the ppl clicked away within the first minute. They want to see the point of the video within 5 minutes, not 30. Don’t make something that’s supposed to be a sentence an essay. Other than that, I’m excited to see what’s next 🔥
yes that's the point of the last vid. I understand. But I LOVE long form content. I do both and will continue to. I appreciate the feedback however. Just,......... see the last vid!!!
I was watching this and loving all of the product development and incremental delivery notes you're giving. Solid basis for success. Get that MVP and iterate on it. Pivot or persevere. All the right ways to look at this stuff. Well done!
I COULDN'T MAKE A GAME ABOUT 5 YEARS BECAUSE ONLY OF I "GAME MAKER"????!!!!!!! im crying rn 😭😭😭 I GOT ENERGIZED SO MUCH!! I have got MIA every my "game"
Y'all, i'm kinda planning on making an (Almost) original battlegrounds game with a "Shibuya incident" mode to it, it's like, attackers vs defenders in a very chaotic style with cool magic, i'm not really working on it, its has way more crazy ideas than that, but the bare bones version is just "separate groups of group attackers vs separate groups of attackers with a dash of chaos and magic, and another group of 4 people that got in the middle of the crossfire and have to survive and help as many people as possible."
i feel like that idea would actually work out. people always think of anime (which i assume your game is inspired by) games on roblox as ffa fighting games, but you actually bring a unique spin to it by adding teams and an objective just know that there are always people who will be interested in what you’re making regardless of what it is
As someone who's almost ready to launch(my first game), should I start marketing my game before release? What are some things that would help people at this stage?
It is up to you. I would. and I’d cultivate community first before release, get those people who are so passionate they’ll share ideas and care about where the games gonna go
@taffysquirts9265 their some RUclips that'll play it for free for content like robuilder um I think ibemain started his roblox video their a chance well play it and more just ask around
Having poorly made a game 3 years ago, this video gave me the motivation to return to it and learn lua and understand studio. Done with bugfixes with code along with code maintainability improvements, but now have to work on refining the physical game itself and eventually relaunching it since there’s no way it can get a player base after 3 years of dormancy lmao
"we dont see things correctly, we actually delete things from the way that we see things, and in fact we actually as humans cant see things for how they are and can only see things for a limited amount of things, and we cant percieve a lot of things so our brain actually blocks those out" im so happy to finally find a comment pointing out the horrible consistency and redundant words 😭😭😭😭
Focus on the forest, not the trees. Yeah. Long bit, I agree. But that's 2 seconds out of 30 minutes of gold. Be focused on what's important to your goals!
just make games for fun y’all u don’t gotta follow these steps if u don’t wanna since like 90 percent of said steps are for people trying to make bank making games!! good luck to everyone starting game development
terror game isnt a genre, its something you can use in your horror games to make them scary, although it works really well in games that arent centered around being scary such as subnautica
These were some very helpful and insightful takes! I have a game that I want to make, but I'm worried that it will crash and fall with Roblox and their awful decisions. Fortnite is taking over a lot of the player base, the platform is becoming more and more corporate, and I don't know if making a Roblox game is a good idea in the first place.
this gon b long alright so, I have a crazy ass idea for a roblox game but there are so many complications in the way. 1. the amount of time it would take 2. i doubt my laptop or let alone roblox could handle something as crazy as this 3. plus i have no idea how to script/code 4. making the story line would be literally hell with all the choices that i have physically in my head idk if i could do them all the idea essentially is to create a game like detroit become human a story like game but then also have it like the black mirror movie bandersnatch. i want to create a game that allows you to make your own choices but still keeps the cinematic movie like effect. each choice leads into a subsection that leads into another subsection and so on. for example : “ a guy walks into a store” A1 - looks around walks out B1 - buys an apple C1 - makes a phone call D1 - robs the store A2 - gets stopped by a person (speak to them, ignore) A2 1.1 - if you chose to speak to said person such and such happens A2 1.2 - if you ignore them this happens B2 - goes out to car because he forgets his wallet and so on it’s a lot to write and generate a whole story line which is why i’m sure dude in the movie went crazy trying to replicate the book into a game form. it’s a fascinating concept that i would love to put into a game. and i haven’t seen anyone try to make anything like that yet on Roblox yet at least and have it be like actually great unless im missing something. I’d really appreciate advice or help if possible on how to go about doing this, i’ve had the idea for awhile was just never sure how to execute it and another thing is how to tie all the choices together and have it all be one cohesive story. If anyone had suggestions or if i should quit cause it’s too crazy let me know 😭. but help is desperately needed. I doubt i could do this alone.
Hi, im thinking of making an obby game, but its also a zombie apocalypse, like each 10 stages or so you have to kill waves of zombies, and you can buy better melee and ranged weapons. Also pvp is on throughout all of it. What do you think of that idea for my game?
That sounds like a co-op zombie game where you have to go through maps and kill zombies. Look up Zombie Tower. It's a classic game which has the idea you may think of.
This is not how you make a game. You assume that what you're trying to make is just gonna work out, but in general that's now how this works. I would suggest looking into how indie game development works. And the management aspect was just too surface level to really take away anything.
Im working on a game where you collect things and fight with those things, theres not really an ending or finish to the game (unless you count collecting everything as one) so it'll be released early and have alot of updates to add items and ways to get them.
I’ve been in Roblox Studio for almost 4 years now, I’ve developed well in terms of construction, but in terms of scripts there’s a complete hole in what I can do with scripts is the mouse click function, lederstats, datastore and animations, can you give me advice on how to improve my knowledge of scripts?
Not the creator, but I've also been a struggling scripter for a long time and I have to say, learn by doing has been wonders for me. I learn and understand concepts mainly from DevForums and Roblox Documentations and try to work from there. I mainly script simple stuff like saving a simple string that gets stored in a database. Trying to copy from Roblox scripting RUclipsrs helps at times if they explain what they're talking about and doing the work step by step. Joining a Discord server that has channels for code help has helped me a ton since the people there can fix and explain why a certain block of code isn't working. Hope these tips helped!
I have an idea for a game, and I want to hear others thoughts and maybe get some feedback. It's a simple 3D platformer like game, except the main USP/ unique trait is that you can time travel through the world (Past, present, future) to collect clocks in an attempt to stop the main bad guy from causing a huge where all the three time periods go to war. The game looks really basic in design cause I'm not a good builder, and my scripting is really basic. If anyone has ideas/feedback, please let me know. If it sounds fun, I can release an early demo prior to release.
My game is a book series imxmaking, itll be stories/role-playing, BUT to get the awesome lore, you need to find secrets, youll get a badge, and if you make a badge, lots of people will spend their time finding it maybe even buying a gamepass? Anyway, its a wolf game, 4 tribes, they were allies first, until the Great War happened. Anyway not gonna say the lore here xD I made a early access game , put it in my community tab, its 25 robux (tried to make it 10 but 25 was the minimum) "What dontt they like? (Shows grass)" You did then dirty
I have horrible attention-span and motivation but have huge, great ideas but can NEVER finish them because I lack the energy, want and motivation, and lately it's gotten harder and harder to come up with a game idea. But this video, along with another vid of yours, has inspired me to get me and my friend's development group back up and active and gave me a GREAT idea that's unique and simple, but is also fun and complex with a loved genre, I mapped out the game plan, along with the main systems and functions, messaged my friends (other owners of the group) and am currently awaiting their response. I cannot thank you enough! ❤
My tips based on my experience playing Roblox: 1: Make sure it's still fun even after completing the game. I played many games that have a structure where you grind to the end of the game, and usually after I complete it I don't feel any reason to play anymore and it isn't that fun, and many players just quit after 15 minutes because they don't feel like grinding. 2. Have an original idea or make the gameplay different. If you make a game that is very similar to other popular games, there won't be much point playing because there's nothing interesting and most players would choose the other game when they have more progress or it's more popular. 3. Don't make pay to win gamepasses. These gamepasses cause alot of complaint and unfairness in the game, making it not that fun. My idea is that the gamepasses only make stuff look really cool so it's fair and people would still buy it. 4: Don't make the game too complex. If you add too many features or things you need to do, it can become tiring or too complicated to play. 5: Make it mobile compatible or release a different version that's mobile compatible. A huge majority of players are mobile players, and unless you don't want to have lots of players, your game can become a lot more popular. Especially if there's themes or things that kids like. But I'm not a game designer so I honestly don't know about this one
Right now I've been messing around making a very silly game with my young nephew, just to practice my scripting skills and test mechanics I might use in real games later. The whole point of it is just to throw stuff from toolbox in and enjoy the janky fun 😅. I do have a more serious idea though, one I'm really excited about making! Now I'm planning to use Obsidian Notes and make a game design doc, it'll probably be a solo project until I've got at least an MVP prototype.
im making a roblox game and its basic, just the gmod flatgrass with 2 nextbots, these nextbots are named "Hamburger" and "Bloxy" and i used a plugin to make that when you die you fall like a ragdoll, and that it be on first person, also i just used 3 free models, the customizable nextbot(2 times) and the gmod flat grass thing, just that, i also putted barriers so no one escape, but it got created yesterday
damn bro im the complete opposite. my lack of creativity makes me stay hours trying to find an idea but nothing even tho im an experienced developer and coder
i really like to make games out of my ideas like doing art i honestly dont care if people dont play it that much but im satisfied when im succesful with the ideas
I have only brought games to the final stage but never to the release of it only to the beta stages it’s because the final touches in my opinion are always the most difficult
Cool video, I have been studying a lot this months how to program and model thinks, and I think I’m prepared, the only issue is that i dont have ideas😅

Well...I am a new developer currently im making a game by watching some of yours and others tutorials but there is still a fear in me that make game will never be famous but this video taught me a lot i literally typed roblox studio and this video showed up. Thanks ❤ ngl 6:47 was really funny 😂

Another tip: It's good to have beta testers ready to test your game so it works perfectly. Seriously, it helps!
wow i didnt expect this video to be so insightful and well-articulated! i myself just released a new remaster of a game last month and myself have been struggling to expand the concurrent player amounts from max 2-3 players! been a dev for 2 years and through all these years ive really learnt how little i know
Yo, i have been planning to make a game but i was so confused with all the ideas coming and how i can put them to place, but watching this video made me more confident than ever, and i have started the delopment today!
wow, actually having an experience, and quoting from reliable sources?? this video is actually sooo very helpful!! thank you for the insight!!
For me, I like games with a clear but fun objective, games that are just doing something aren’t fun to me, but Ik it’s not like that for others.
Love that you put robuilder in your video
Great comment. What is wrong specifically in your opinion?

Thanks!
That would be so cool. Platform games and metrovanias r non existent
Idk about my idea but tell me your thoughts:
• you know those "feed your dog at 3 am" or "get a divorce at 3 am" games? thats the base
• it'll be called "feed your frog at 1 am"
• there will be many badges with different endings
• it will be comedy-adventure game
• VERY satire (heavy on the satire part)

Very interesting, definitely an excellent idea to make your game even better for your targeted audience,
But we all know Roblox unfortunately doesn’t have every kind of audience, for example.. horror games, like the mimic, it’s has a limited player count due to the limited audience, so how would I know if my game or anybody else’s game would have a limited player count due to the limited audience that they are targeting, and could this limited barrier be broken somehow?
Yes pick the niche and expand it
Ask yourself: how can I make this game idea more general?

Y'all, i'm kinda planning on making an (Almost) original battlegrounds game with a "Shibuya incident" mode to it, it's like, attackers vs defenders in a very chaotic style with cool magic, i'm not really working on it, its has way more crazy ideas than that, but the bare bones version is just "separate groups of group attackers vs separate groups of attackers with a dash of chaos and magic, and another group of 4 people that got in the middle of the crossfire and have to survive and help as many people as possible."
i feel like that idea would actually work out.
people always think of anime (which i assume your game is inspired by) games on roblox as ffa fighting games, but you actually bring a unique spin to it by adding teams and an objective
just know that there are always people who will be interested in what you’re making regardless of what it is
As someone who's almost ready to launch(my first game), should I start marketing my game before release? What are some things that would help people at this stage?
It is up to you. I would. and I’d cultivate community first before release, get those people who are so passionate they’ll share ideas and care about where the games gonna go

its just more fun by human instinct ig
These were some very helpful and insightful takes! I have a game that I want to make, but I'm worried that it will crash and fall with Roblox and their awful decisions. Fortnite is taking over a lot of the player base, the platform is becoming more and more corporate, and I don't know if making a Roblox game is a good idea in the first place.

alright so, I have a crazy ass idea for a roblox game but there are so many complications in the way.
1. the amount of time it would take
2. i doubt my laptop or let alone roblox could handle something as crazy as this
3. plus i have no idea how to script/code
4. making the story line would be literally hell with all the choices that i have physically in my head idk if i could do them all
the idea essentially is to create a game like detroit become human a story like game but then also have it like the black mirror movie bandersnatch. i want to create a game that allows you to make your own choices but still keeps the cinematic movie like effect.
each choice leads into a subsection that leads into another subsection and so on.
for example : “ a guy walks into a store”
A1 - looks around walks out
B1 - buys an apple
C1 - makes a phone call
D1 - robs the store
A2 - gets stopped by a person
(speak to them, ignore)
A2 1.1 - if you chose to speak to said person such and such happens
A2 1.2 - if you ignore them this happens
B2 - goes out to car because he forgets his wallet
and so on it’s a lot to write and generate a whole story line which is why i’m sure dude in the movie went crazy trying to replicate the book into a game form. it’s a fascinating concept that i would love to put into a game. and i haven’t seen anyone try to make anything like that yet on Roblox yet at least and have it be like actually great unless im missing something.

Sounds good but make a mode where its a team based wave zombie game also for abit more casual players
That sounds like a co-op zombie game where you have to go through maps and kill zombies. Look up Zombie Tower. It's a classic game which has the idea you may think of.
yapper
This is not how you make a game. You assume that what you're trying to make is just gonna work out, but in general that's now how this works.
I would suggest looking into how indie game development works.
And the management aspect was just too surface level to really take away anything.
On Roblox, it absolutely can. It is not like other platforms. Just start.
whats bro yapping about
Im working on a game where you collect things and fight with those things, theres not really an ending or finish to the game (unless you count collecting everything as one) so it'll be released early and have alot of updates to add items and ways to get them.
like pokemon? thats pretty cool as long as you make these "things" as unique as possible. maybe different variants of these things would also be cool
What is there to not understand about the mouse click function?
The most complex part is decide what will be about. I just did a cube game for sculping. Got 2k visits.
This is awesome. I didn’t realize I was already thinking about half of this without knowing what I was really doing
took me quite a lot of attempts but I did after years of hard dedication get a game and a running project
Anyway not gonna say the lore here xD
I made a early access game , put it in my community tab, its 25 robux (tried to make it 10 but 25 was the minimum)

are you making it
@@1000-THR Yes!! Me and my two friends however are finishing our Final exams and then we’re all going to finish it up!
My tips based on my experience playing Roblox:
1: Make sure it's still fun even after completing the game.
But I'm not a game designer so I honestly don't know about this one
grinding is the worst
Right now I've been messing around making a very silly game with my young nephew, just to practice my scripting skills and test mechanics I might use in real games later. The whole point of it is just to throw stuff from toolbox in and enjoy the janky fun 😅.
I do have a more serious idea though, one I'm really excited about making! Now I'm planning to use Obsidian Notes and make a game design doc, it'll probably be a solo project until I've got at least an MVP prototype.
