also you dont need to control a vaalmonica monster to activate the effect you need to control a vaalmonica monster Card which includes your pendulum scales because they are always still monster cards even when they are spells.

At 9:05 and again around 20:00, the trap just says you need to control a Vaalmonica Monster "Card", specifically. When something like a "Monster Card" is referred to, the "card" part refers to the printing of the physical card. So if you only control even 1 Vaalmonica scale in your Pendulum zones, you can activate the trap, since it's a Pendulum Monster card. It's an important ruling to know ^^

A few other archetypes do this as well, like solfachord, and Amazoness, but it is a very interesting ruling that not a lot of people know about.
I disagree with 2 of the pend monsters. There isn't a lot of ways to recover your scales if your oppoment removes them(ghost ogre and cosmic are quite popular rn) and you already go through 2 of both in your main combos. If your opponent cosmics the light you basically die if you don't have another copy.
Ghost ogre wouldn't really work,because the scales don't really activate. Only angelo has an activated effect to link summon when your opponent attacks,the rest of the effects don't start a chain.
You CAN activate the Vaalmonica Trap even if you don‘t control a Vaalmonica monster as long as you have atleast one Scale up! Because the Trap states that you need to control a Monster Card and not a Monster which Pendulum Monsters in their Scales are stilk treated as. The only difference in which sequence you should active your interuptions is that summoning out the vaalmonica link first gives you the bonus on the trap to activate both effects in sequence instead of just choose one to active (when you only have up the Scales).
Vaalmonica is such a interesting deck type, since it feels way different than most decks I played. Also, with more support coming up, this could become even better.
I'd really suggest you check out Fiendsmith Vaalmonica when the next Vaalmonica wave and the Fiendsmith archetype drop, dimonno and any other card on field gets you a quick-effect 2 card negate that you can literally run as small as a 1 card main deck 3 card extra deck if you want to minimise the crap out of it. Been a massive fangirl of this deck since it was announced, and I'm hyped as fuck to see strategies pop up around it that really *do* something for once. Dream come true. Nice video, earned a sub, thanks for sharing :>
oh actually I'll also mention, if you run a larger package (3 Fiendsmith, 3 Tractus, 1 Fabled lurrie, 1 angel of blue tears and one of each of the extra decks + beatrice), you not only end on that but also in the process deal 1200 to your opponent, send a target on field to GY, and set ANY NORMAL TRAP... from DECK. That engine has some serious power and you can make it small as fuck. Keep an eye out for it.
I thought about making invoked vaalmonica, it’s the only other engine I have since I don’t like the runick cards outside of generaider, for lore reasons

you don't have to banish at all, even for a spell if you use the link effect, it's only the pendulums that banish

Great Video, just one comment: The Fiend Link1 does not banish the card it wants to copy. You can simply copy a card in your grave or banish pile.
