Carnival Sensation was the first Carnival ship I was ever on for a fundraiser years ago. Yes, the food on my Carnival cruise was consistently the best I've had.

Back when I started cruising, some 25 years ago. Most cruise ships would invite you on board while in port. You’d get a tour, lunch and an opportunity to book with the same on board credit as those sailing that ship. Post 9/11 it’s a security risk.
Disney does end up in the same ports on occasion.

I LOVED the ships comparison video! Please do more of these! Its interesting to see what changes the ships go through (like one that is due for a remodel, and one thats just had a remodel). I also love the idea of a full ship to ship tour too... and you know if they really thought about it they could maybe even offer some sort of discounted rate if you booked to cruise that ship for a near future date (say within a year?) during the tour while currently cruising on another partner ship, maybe to save some money on excursions or something?... less money up front but then more guaranteed money spent on ship ( at least in most cases)... i hope that came off the way i wanted it to! lol. In my mind its a good business idea

I have the first comment!!! My commercial was the gross Tom Brady Hulu commercial where he makes it sound like he's announcing his retirement but really does an ad for Hulu. Blech! I skipped it. LOL! Okay, Morgan, your little comment at 13:53 made me giggle. You are so great at those little digs! I hope I never make a comment where you make a dig at me. LOL! Anyway, great Sunday Sofatime!

I had an ad for Purple Mattress. When I was on the Carnival Victory in November 2016, the pool and hot tub in the very back of the ship was adults only. My mom spent most of our sea day there while I went to the spa and a game show. I still have a picture of her bar tab. She liked the staff walking around with drinks already made 🍹🤣

Like the idea of ship hopping! You should get a "media" lanyard and see if they let you on ;P. It sort of reminds me of when you stay at an all-inclusive resort and you're allowed to go between nearby resorts to visit/use their facilitites.

I have been on 4 of the Fantasy class ships during the 90s. Balconies were not common back then that ship class was designed, so that is why additional ones had to be retrofitted. The golf course was not also on that top deck location as well. There was a water slide that was part of the main pool as well. Another fun fact, the atriums of the Fantasy class ships also did not have a bar originally (Elation and Paradise were built with one). They originally had a big sculpture or an art peice.

    • @tenngirl1976

The best Promenade Decks are the ones that fully wraparound the ship like on all four Disney ships and Cunard's QM2. These are perfect for strolling, running laps, or lounging on the deck chairs and connecting with the sea. The deck's purpose is for lifeboat access and unfortunately most cruise lines see them as non-revenue generating utilitarian spaces rather than cruise ship enhancements for passengers. For me, they are a very important part of a cruise, as well as the food and service. All those cruise lines with included room service mentioned by the commenter are luxury 6-star lines. He's comparing the leather seating that's included in your Jaguar to having to pay extra for it in your Honda. I think that person missed your point!

I do find it interesting the difference between the ships. Usually before cruising, I try to look on youtube to find out what the ship is like and what it offers. I do agree that if you have been on Carnival before, you have a good idea of where some things are. Pixels on deck 4, shops and casino on deck 5, and spa is usually on one of the uppermost decks. I love to wander around the cruise the first day exploring to see if I can find places without looking on a map. It's fun to see the little differences too. (Sushi restaurant, indian restaurant, coffee bars, etc.). I just love cruising. I can't wait till I can get the chance to go again!

Hi Morgan! You actually can book a tour of any carnival ship while it is docked at its home port. It’s a free service and after the tour of there is time, you are free to have lunch on lido deck. This is something that has to be booked in advance though and it might be difficult to get the date you want based on whatever is planned on any given port day.

Morgan! Greetings from Dallas Tx...Glad to see your giving Carnival a bit of Love in your vids. People like to put Carnival Down as the Wal-mart of cruise lines... However It's a Fun Ship we like it and we tend to cruise twice a year which with the Carnival price point on inside cabin vs other cruise lines allows us to do so. Hope you sail more Carnival ships in the future. Keep up the Sunday Sofa time. It's pretty enjoyable...Peace!

The last cruise we were on (Jan 20th, 2020 from Mobile) on Carnival Fantasy - my wife asked the same questions about why we could not take a tour of a newer ship sitting next to us so we could see how we liked it compared to the Fantasy class that we have been on many times before but have not had opportunity o be o n a newer ship and would like to see if worth the extra $ to travel to one of them. Awesome idea - I hope Carnival picks up on this and sees what they can do to make this happen.

I had an a for Royal Caribbean Alaskan Cruise, I think it featured the Ovation of the Seas.
Also, I believe in early March (as another post below states) the Carnival Victory is going into dry dock and will get a bunch of enhancements and get renamed to Carnival Radiance. It is supposed to have a full blown Water Works water park after it comes out of dry dock and the first ship to offer Shaq's Big Chicken

  • @bobdonna6042

Morgan - we are loyal Carnival cruisers and I want to commend you on your objectivity. Your reviews have been right on and, quite frankly, I was thinking you would be very biased for NCL and Royal (both great lines). In our opinion, the pinnacle of Carnival ships is the Dream class (Dream, Magic and Breeze). They are big enough to have most every thing without feeling crowded. We are going on our third cruise on the Magic in January. I would love to have your take on this class of ships.

The touring a bigger ship idea isn't a bad one, just have to find a way to ensure that you didn't pick up a few stragglers by the end of the day, not wanting to leave the bigger ship; saying "whoops, guess I missed my call to get off, why not just hide out onboard the nicer/newer ship..?"

Don (Don's Family Vacations) did a ship tour of another ship while in port, but I think it was just for travel agents.
What were the waterslides like, rule wise? On the Symphony, my husband was turned away. He was wearing glasses with a floating sport band. The attendant said the glasses could break and get glass in his eyes. They're plastic lenses!! The hours for all the slides and attractions were very short and random and we hardly did anything because of that

Commercial = local Mini Cooper dealership (which I have absolutely no interest in) - and also, I have no interest in seeing water slides (if I wanted to, I would go to my local water park - The Rapids - but I’d be more interested in a lazy river water ride)! I remember when all cruise ships were like the Carnival Sensation (minus water slides) - basically 8 or 9 decks tall with the lifeboats just below the lido deck (I think because back in the old days they figured it made sense to get all passengers up to the highest deck if they ship was sinking)! I probably did cruise on the Sensation (I know I sailed on the Fascination) & there were mostly inside cabins & ocean view (I’m talking Carnival in the 1990’s) - the balcony cabins were the owners suites for the very wealthy passengers (I was in steerage in an inside cabin with 3 friends - ooooh bunk beds)! Hmmmm 🤔 not sure if I’d like to see more videos like this - I watch so many cruising RUclips videos that I have probably seen sooooo many ships when other vloggers I follow have cruised on them - including ships based in Europe (like P&O) that I will probably never cruise on. Really not a fair comparison of ships if you’re just looking from the outside (maybe I’m more interested in what the ship looks like on the inside - the atrium, the theater, the lounges, the shops, the MDR, etc)! I hardly ever look at other ships that are in port with me - unless there is something really unusual about the ship - otherwise they all kind of look the same to me (except for size - some of the new ships are sooooo tall - they look like skyscrapers)! I’ve been cruising for over 30 years - have been on a lot of ships - have seen the ships change from having lots of sun loungers on the lido deck - with the buffet & 2 pools (including the aft pool) - and no race tracks or laser tag. You could actually see the sea while sunning by the pool - all day long (and many of the ships activities were done by the main pool - with the cruise director keeping all the passengers entertained).
