I have both aquarius and uranus the ruler of aquarius in my fourth house. I also have neptune in aquarius there, it's probably why I don't really feel lack of communications with my family isn't a big deal. I feel like a black sheep, like I'm part of the family but not part of it. Some early degree scorpio risings would get what I mean. About the father being strict and restricting creative expression, it's not really intense with me like he's very protective and fatherly but still distant and that's because his father was distant to him and he doesn't really know how to connect emotionally but he does what he can. Also think my sun being in the first house helps make light of whatever bad influences are in my chart.

My son Libra sun Scorpio Rising Aquarius moon in the 4th house. Although he’s on the autism spectrum I can definitely see some of the Scorpio rising energy he possesses. My Cancer Rising and Libra Moon 4th house want to protect him so much but yet I’ve noticed the emotional connection isn’t as deep as I would like it to be as you pointed out.
