Looks good. I previously had the same one as your 'old friend'. It worked great until pieces started falling off of it. That was all the justification I needed to get a new one. I went with the ZStar, which is very similar to your new one. I love it. The shallower pan is much easier to clean. I think you'll love your new one, and it will become your new best friend! ❤️🥰❤️
Miss Anita!!! NSV. You may not have noticed!! Your neck & face (skin) Is looking much tighter!!! I can see it on video!! This HFCV is definitely helping rejuvenate your skin elasticity!! LOOSE SKIN B GONE!!! Hugs from Biloxi, MS. See you at Keto Con!! 😎😍😘
Hi Anita! Enjoy your new Ninja. I've had the same model as your new one for a year+ and love it. However, the "grill" setting ALWAYS smoked the whole house every time we used it, even after strictly following the manual's recommendation of washing the screen after every use. I also clean the inside very well with a damp cloth while I still can get any of the dripping and splatters to dry completely in an effort to minimize the smoke issue. The steaks turned out great and we enjoyed the way they came out. But several videos ago, I saw you use the "air crisp" setting on your old Ninja and that gave me an idea to cook the steaks in air crisp setting, and the results were awesome, and NO SMOKE!!! The clean up is also better versus the grilling grate. Hubby and I tried cooking burgers in the grill setting and the results were very disappointing, but we've tried the air crisp setting and they come out great. I don't know if it is because I may not know how to best cook using the grill setting but I prefer the air crisp setting and thus far the results are always great and no smoke in the house. :)
Oh wow, that is interesting about the smoke! A friend has complained about setting off her smoke alarm all the time and it never occurred to me she might be using the grill and not the air crisp setting!
I bought one of these from Costco last fall on sale. I love it! I make steaks, chicken thighs, and pork belly bites in the air fryer. I’ve tried the grill but the steaks are better air frying. Best thing I’ve bought in years!
I buy large steaks too then cook in my air fryer and cut in half using it for two days to take to school( retired but sub everyday. My everyday socialization, running in gym in AM and step getting when free periods come up. Love 💕 kids too. My second meal has become sardines. My steaks are thicker than you do. If you count my buttered coffee I have 3 but it isn’t suppose to effect my insulin so I do what AO want and ignore that stricter idea.
I bought mine about 7 months ago when I decided to go carnivore. I absolutely love it, it gets used by at least one family member every day. I first saw it at Costco, but ended up getting it cheaper at Kohls with a coupon.
My recollection when I was deciding between the 5 in 1 and the XL, was that the maximum temperature for the original was higher than the maximum temperature for the XL. Plus the XL xtra size was overkill when cooking for one unless seriously meal prepping.
I have the same as your other one but no thermometer and I have never had an issue with it wanting to tilt. Mine is like moving my kitchen aid mixer, not so much heavy, just sturdy! The steak looked delicious! 😊
Love ours like this model. We’ve had it for a couple years and absolutely agree it’s the best money we’ve ever spent. Looking to purchase the newer larger model with an easier to remove element screen in the lid. So excited for you and your new best friend for the kitchen! Happy cooking. 😁
Hope you love it as much as I love mine. It makes great chicken wings. And I made a turkey breast for thanksgiving. It was amazing! I did use the temp probe and it worked well.
I looked for months to find the same one you had and couldn't find it. Finnally settled for the foodie grill you have now. You will love it too!! I use it daily as well.
We love ours! My husband want one but wasn't sure he would use it. I got him one for Christmas 2 years ago. It has been you multiple times a day. The only time it gets a break is when we are on vacation.
Costco strikes again lol.....I also just picked one up there but not on impulse. I have no experience with air fryers but I think this is fantastic. Hope your daughter enjoys it as much as you do.
It's okay Anita! I had the old one too and gave it away. And just got my foodie XL just a couple of weeks ago. And I got mine on a super duper deal from Amazon renewed. And I can't tell that it isn't new and looks just as new as out of a new unopened box. And I love it! My problem with the small one was chicken. I couldn't get it to cook whole chicken to my satisfaction, and found the spatter screen difficult to get on and off. As well as smoke. The xl models are smoke free and the screen simple to put on and take off. And getting meat exactly the way I want it with the temperature probe is mind blowing! I haven't air fried a steak in it yet, but I will the next time to see how it differs from the temperature probe.
Hi Anita... it was good to see these units compared. When I was going to buy one I had a terrible time to find out how many inches it was for height when the lid was open as I do not have a kitchen Island so mine had to go under my cupboards, and mine are lower than usual. It ended up that mine is able to open under the cupboards. As you love yours so much I may try mine again... Maybe when you come to visit me... :) I would like to see how you clean the other grill inside the lid behind the screen. I cut myself when I was cleaning the lid part on the edges of the lid inside. I am a bit obsessive about the cleaning, I guess...
I certainly like mine and I am very grateful for your words of encouragement and expertise on using the air fryer. Btw, my granddaughter has named the air fryer Francine 🙂. As you know the air fryer I have is very similar to the one you are donating and it really does do a great job on all of things I ask it to do. Over Xmas I was gifted with 3 different air fryer cook books so I now have many recipes to choose from. Of course there is always utube videos including yours that I search for ideas; experimentation is fun! Take care Anita and enjoy your new toy, I look forward to further videos and cooking adventures.
I had my husband get me a 5 in 1 for my birthday in October. I have been loving it and using every day. Mine doesn’t have the thermometer. The 5 in 1 has been big enough for the two of us but now I have two extra household members and the bigger unit would be nice. Something to consider.
I love the stuff that you share. Can you tell us what kind of stove top oven you have I need a replacement and I want to make sure that I have one that will work with the psmf egg bread
Any oven should be able to bake a PSMF loaf! I don't know a lot about my oven because I didn't buy it, it was here when I moved in. It's an LG glass top stove.
We have one ninja 6x1 and love it. Hope it for a few years. It only fits 3 steaks and 6 burgers but we use it 2 or 3 times a week. Not deep enough to cook a chicken or roast.
Thanks for the video. It was a bit humorous during the intro when you're talking all about the new grill, and you can see the old grill in the background like a jealous ex. I keep eyeing the Ninja XL Pro 7 in 1 Grill/Griddle Combo, I almost pulled the trigger a few times, but I'm waiting for the price to come down a bit more.
I have one on my counter and another spare in my garage. This is the BEST air-fryer I have owned. Steaks are amazing!! I use it multiple times a day. You should order the grill rack accessory! I use it to cook a half a pound of bacon at a time. I can’t say enough about it. The one I have is over 2 tears old and going strong.
I ordered that rack for air frying because that basket is so small I ended up throwing it in the trash. I also ordered another grease screen because an extra one comes in handy when you use it as much as I do.
I like the screen on your "old friend" better. I have the xl and it's very hard to clean. The screen does not cover enough surface. So it gets very dirty in the inside lid.
I have the same model. I just set it to grill and add a rib steak when its heated, the total time depends on the thickness. I will have to try your method,
Hi Anita Did you get that at the Langley Costco? I usually go to Abbotsford one now since I'm further out and didn't see it there. maybe it wad a while ago....
Okay, I will put my two cents in here. I have used a cast iron skillet for years and years. Simply the best way to cook in my opinion. However, I did go with an air fryer also, another brand and just a 6 quart as I wanted to try it. I got a Gormea (sic) that I found on sale at Walmart. I find the air fryer cooks faster, it heats faster and it does a lot of things a skillet doesn't do, like reheat easily, dehydrate, bake, broil and some other stuff I haven't tried yet. The reheat is probably my favorite part of the air fryer as I can heat up leftovers quickly and enjoy them without overcooking them. You may not need the Ninji, but I do suggest an air fryer for the convenience.
I still love it, use once or twice every single day. It's pretty much the same as the old one except a wider surface area which I like because I can put more food in!
I have the old model like your original one. But today I purchased the wider model from Amazon. No more burning myself putting steaks down into the four inch deep pan! Plus larger capacity! 👍👍@@KetogenicWoman
I have to ask….I bought the same ninja Foodi 5 in 1 grille that you had. We use it everyday. My question is…….how do you keep your filter and the area around the filter so clean. Mine is brown and sticky. I wash the filter as soon as it cools in hot soapy water. The area around the filter, up near the elements is goopy too. How do you keep that clean. I don’t know what to use.
I do run the screen through the dish washer so maybe that's why? I did see a video where someone boiled theirs in a pot of water and baking soda, as it was pretty bad and it looked brand new! Inside the lid I just wipe it down with a hot soapy sponge as best I can, I don't use anything special.
Oh you're gonna miss your original one...if it were me I'd give the new one to the daughter...it's too shallow....I think you'll be sorry if you let go of the old one...I got the XL for my son, but don't like it nearly enough! Oh well....good luck
@@KetogenicWoman I dunno that deeper pan allows for so many varied possibilities... I can do so much with the deeper pan... hope it does work for you though 😄

Uh-oh~ does that mean the XL does not go up to the 510 degrees for the "GRILL" setting? That's the setting we use most, hmm.
I just ordered your old model the 5 in 1, because you gave it a great review Thank you

It's a great unit!
I rarely grill, I just like the simplicity of the air fryer, I don't have to flip, it's faster and I just like the results!
I will try that next time
Just bought this about 2 weeks ago. Love it. The temperature gage makes it easy to cook the meat just right.
