      The players are, at the very least, the equivalent or better than someone like Austria or Denmark. Those teams aren't really threats to win a big tournament, but we've seen they can indeed compete. American coaches on the other hand...
      The best American coach in the world is probably Pellegrino Matarazzo, who left the United States at the turn of the century and hasn't really been involved in US Soccer since. Ultimately American players are WAY out ahead of American coaches. So why do we keep insisting on American coaches? And Berhalter probably isn't in the top 5 of American coaches.

    One of the biggest things that annoy me in football are when people bring up “golden generations” before that group of players achieve anything. “Golden generations” should be reserved for group of players who achieve great things , not the potential talent they may have as a group.
    This generation of US players haven’t done anything that previous generations haven’t done. Coaching may be part of the problem but the players are the ones performing on the field.
    Not making it to at least the knockout stage in a Copa America hosted in the United States is an absolute failure for this set of US players and coaching staff. It means the program is regressing not advancing.

    I just watched Chile last night play a man down for 60 minutes and got a draw, it looked so much better than the US against Panama. Jesse Marsch has only coached Canada for 3 months and he got them advancing out of their group. The coaching difference between teams is so obvious in the Copa.

    My take: Mexico is the bigger failure.
    Yes, this is the USMNT’s golden generation. For all the talent Mexico has had, they still haven’t done much. How have Mexico regressed as time went on? At least the US has improved and sent players to bigger teams as of recently. Btw, I support ConCaCaf teams but Mexico is my main team. So I’m extra critical of them. I enjoy watching usmnt a lot too. Herc said it well in another video, berhalter hasn’t done anything new that the precious coaches have done already. They need a new coach and the players need some humility.
    Mexico needs it all lol

      Are you kidding me ? 😂😂😂 this would be a bigger failure for USA . They have players in top notch European teams and considered to be the “ golden generation “ right ? Their biggest accomplishment has been beating the weakest generation of Mexico

    • @fernandom1299
      @fernandom1299 3 месяца назад

      @@MichaelMyers.132 True true. But my perspective is the US has beat Mexico a lot head-to-head recently. And the recent pressure amounting on the US has been a lot considering that the sport is growing at an increasing rate, with hosting tournaments, friendlies, and now the World Cup. Navigating new territory with a less than mediocre coach is tough. But again, my frustration is not with the lack of results from the US but more of a disappointing performance and politics from Mexico.

    By far, a US loss to Uruguay would be more of a monumental failure than Mexico not making it out of their group. The USMNT has no excuses. They had more than enough talent to bury Panama, and they blew it. The fact that there's even any weight given to this last group stage game is a failure by the USMNT. This game has all the earmarks of a train wreck. I predict 2-0 Uruguay at halftime, and a final scoreline of 3-1 Uruguay. The only way the US wins this game is by punching Uruguay in the face within the first 10 minutes with a very early goal. If the US scores early and can add a few more before halftime, then they will ride that all the way to victory.
