I've got to say that if a player of mine pulled some "Xzavanis" stunt and conned the rest of the group into playing a game _they_ made up, derailing the campaign I had set up for them, I would ... I would ... actually I'd think it was awesome, thank Gygax for the existence of proactive players and set up some stuff so they could go running off on some fool's errand for some adventures and, in other sessions, have them stumble "accidentally" across an actually important adventure from the original campaign. I would _also_ privately advise the player of the "Xzavnis" PC that - depending upon how long they deceive the group - their characters arc _might just possibly_ end with their death at the hands of the other PCs.
Hey The Boon and The Drink! I’m a big fan of your channel (you replied to a comment of mine, and it was an honour!😂). Pleasant surprise to see you here!
Waited in line at Comic Con to have Sanderson sign my leather bound Mistborn book. Worth every penny and every second! Still the prize of my book collection :) Thank you again good sir!!!
Brandon, I think I can speak for most of us, we would love to hear more about these D&D characters of yours. I have to know what happened in those stories!
I'm sure he already did :) One of my all time favourite books, loved the second one as well, but The Republic of Thieves was a bit all over the place..
I am so glad I have been able to hear him say this. As he said, it can be extremely boring to talk about dnd characters, so let me sum up. 1) I have been playing an illusionist wizard (5e) for the past year because I really liked the idea of illusions. Currently level 9. 2) I play him as the illusionist/rogue. Essentially, I made a rogue character with the class of wizard. 3) Most interesting of all, I am the tank. This is because the rest of the party is the healer (cleric) and the actual rogue (arcane trickster rogue actually). We rolled stats, I got 2 18's which I put in Intelligence and Dexterity. I am a Tabaxi (+2 dex), with a shield (and war caster) and mage armor. In total, AC or 20 without Shield spell. But it gets better. Just got an item to boost my AC (UA Barrier Tattoo) and the Shield spell, so grand total of 27 AC. Now I'm just waiting for the Illusory Reality ability (make illusions real for a short time). Sorry for rambling, but thank you for reading, and I'm still a little stunned that Sanderson likes illusionist/rogue wizards.
I've been trying to get into dnd for a while. Seeing one of my favourite authors talking about it makes me want to start more. Any tips on how to get into it anyone?
@@mrgodliak I'm having the same issue. I'm trying to find ways to get into it and also trying to watch videos of people playing but all the videos are so long...

"Wizards without Borders", a story about an organization of wizards, who travel around to save people from oppression, hunger and disasters, sounds like a very interesting story.
This reminds me of my favorite 3.5 munchkiny build. A beguiler with some shadowcraft mage prestige class levels. So much fun when a DM gets caught unaware on what they allowed.
Me and my friend made a warrior rogue halfling combo. We got a trenchcoat and posed as one large person and I would always throw him into any enemies in combat. It was working so well and the other players didnt know what the heck was going on until the first skill check when I fell down a river and our cover was exposed. My character (the warrior) started freaking out because he hates seeing people look at him. It was a great campaign.
I wish I had a player like Brandon Sanderson, I don't care how much I would work on the story, it would still definitely be interesting to DM in his campaign he would suddenly create
Who else thinks we should ask Sanderson to write a short story or something based off one (or both) of the characters mentioned in the video??? I'd LOVE to read a comedy Sanderson book 😂
Mage w/ 'advanced geometry' as a secondary profession (a hobby, in 2nd ed). DM made me map out every single bounce of a lightning bolt with geometric equations... but he let me do it. There are players who kind of try this stuff but they go a bit too far into the annoying territory, but he always knew the limit. Also, when he wasn't DMing he almost always played mage or a thief, too.
