I was watching this live and I never saw Jakes 5.10 wave and they didnt show no replay for it. He had a 2.23 and a 0.73. Where did that 5.10 come from? These judges keep robbing JJF.
Seems like the judges were judging these 2 surfers on different scales. The JohnJohn scale for John John and the amateur scale for Marshal. The WSL needs to consider using AI assistants to make judging more impartial.

Good surfing, bad waves for JJF. Not a very critical section, pretty flat. Same with the other lay backs he did. Compare it to Marshals waves, the sections he hit were steeper. Just my opinion though

WSL needs a full overhaul, so sick and tired of watching the better surfer not make it to the next round. Jake rips but 6.77 for 1 solid carve and 2 cutbacks? Yet JJF is getting low 6's for high risk maneuvers on the main section. It almost like the judges don't surf, someone needs to be held accountable or what used to be a great organization is only going to keep failing. 20k live viewers peak? I've seen 16 year-olds playing Fortnite with higher viewership. FIGURE IT OUT WSL
Great surfing but to much politics.. WSL needs to make a rule, anyone over 30 years old needs to retire from the tour. If they don't then the judges will make your life miserable...

Close one - jakes surfing was smoother n more rail in the water. It depends on what kinda surfing you like. Rail to rail surfing is more flowing n even harder to pull off in such sloppy conditions. It was a close heat if you look only at best two waves. John was busier n more explosive but the criteria are SPEED, POWER and FLOW.
