The demonstrations remind me of high school chemistry lab, as opposed to science museum magic of science presentations. Scientists, men and women, monitor the health of the rivers today as we intervene with the environment to restore health to waters for plants, animals, diverse species, and "humans". The latter is often for recreational use, though rivers are the source of drinking water and the cycles of living plants and the proverbial food chain.
