I am an older homeschooling mom trying to build something new (planning destination weddings & honeymoons) to invest my time in as I near an empty nest. But I’m not your average mom…I have 7 children with 3 left at home I’m still teaching at home. There is a lot of imposter syndrome in my head as get started. How does a 25 year SAHM reinvent herself? I’m struggling with how to build the consistency into my content creation for my business. That’s how I got here today. I feel terribly behind the times. I didn’t grow up with technology. But I’ve got to say, your authenticity in this video was inspiring to me. I hate hearing when younger people are struggling. You almost made me cry, mostly because I see a beautiful, confident woman on the screen but one willing to say "I don’t always have it together." Social media is full of people working hard to be something they are not. Of the few people I’ve looked to for ideas in creating consistency, I liked you most. You didn’t yell at me (or anybody). You gave a gentle reminder that we don’t always have to have it together. Even if we’re wearing a hoodie but we’re showing up. 😊 rest well. We see you. You’re beautiful. But being real gives many of us the inspiration we need to get started. Blessings.
SAAMEEEE!!! The only way out... Is to sit through the editing process... And possibly not look at it as a chore... But as some new skill that your constantly trying to learn.
Same, I do gaming videos and they take hours to film and hours to edit. The way I'm going to try to change that is to only film videos that are EASY to edit; getting rid of the problem of 'time' by only filming easy videos, so that my consistency and quality can improve. If I know one type of video takes a really long time to cut down and polish, I'm not going to do it anymore, because it will slow me down and I won't post for weeks. Not sure if that will be helpful to you but possibly!
This is a great reminder that consistent content creation is about overcoming your own barriers, not just having the right equipment. It's about defining your minimum viable product, banishing perfectionism, and finding your unique way to show up authentically. Great pep talk, LaTasha!
Thank you for humanizing content creation! This is a job just like anything else, and sometimes you’re not feeling 💯 at work or in life. We all experience that!
Listening while waiting for my daughter to fall asleep... also tend to listen as I am doing dishes, laundry, driving. Those are otherwise times when I can"t work on my own stuff. They are the times I have to gather more ideas
@@thelatashajames yes, notice I say listen, not watch, lol. Yes I listen to YT many times, especially when it comes to educational or vlog style videos.
Time and overthinking that leads to excuses and finally Analysis PARALYSIS. I’ve been told by friends or strangers that I “sound like a podcast” and that I should be sharing cause it helped them and it might help someone too. I get motivated by others but then I become my worst critic when I start working on them now…
YES! It's so hard to not be our own biggest critics! I still do it to myself. But I try to keep in mind that it's a disservice to those who would enjoy or be helped by my content to NOT put it out.
Great video, a lot of this is super relevant to my issues with content creation! My biggest issue is time so I'm going to work to make the process easier and faster for myself so I can be more consistent.
Amazing video with some really insightful tips, thank you for sharing!! I think that the biggest problem with content creators now is their lack of strategy. Like they upload everything straight away, and then they run out of ideas. This business is about constant uploading, but not too many times per week (and also after I upload something, I use a little bit of Famester to make that piece of content instantly viral and popular). It's better to upload something once or twice per week, and it also helps to avoid burn out.
I love this video. Thank you so much. I’ll be watching others. The question about how we look was not rude. It was a courageous question that is owed an honest answer. In my humble opinion, if your content is compelling and effective, how you look really doesn’t matter HOWEVER, being classically beautiful is an asset. Beauty does NOT equal success but it can help depending on what your content is. If one is not considered classically beautiful that is NOT a barrier. If people like looking at the talking head host, yes, that does have an effect and can help. I also love how you said that feeling good affects how we show up as a host. If you are not confident about how you present in a world that worships classical beauty, then that may affect how you produce visual content starring you. That said, please don’t let your physical attributes impact how you move forward. In the end, that really doesn’t matter. The world needs all of our voices and yours is worthy no matter what package you come in! Please remember that. Beauty does not equal success. Authenticity and compelling content matter more than anything. ❤❤❤
OMG this is me. I am so insecure about my looks that I shut down on recording and posting. My friends and family tell me I am "beautiful" but at 62 yrs old I see every flaw in my face and feel too old or irrelevant, compared to the younger, more beautiful generation that is on RUclips...I realize I have something to say and will eventually get over myself. It is just really hard to get started.😢
Please don’t let this stop you! Don’t be fooled by the “light filter” generation. They may look great but trust me, they are carrying around their demons as well. In the age of AI, we are all hungry for authenticity. We need to hear YOUR VOICE. Just create compelling content. In the end, that’s what matters. ❤❤❤
Hey La! The person who never makes any mistakes doesn't try. And perfect definitely is subjective! Personally I like "not perfect" many times! Perfect is needed sometimes but not as often as we think. We put that on ourselves and really it takes the fun and enjoyment out of what we do-our creativity! Again-sorry you got my speech impediment!! I too still struggle with it. Great pep talk video! Love it! Xoxo
Hi Latasha, this is my first time commenting (I've been subscribed/watching/liking for years) and I want to thank you for your video. I had my dream job up until Covid and then I was yanked out of it. Now I am desperately trying to get back to it, but in the meantime I had to take a very, very different job that is incredibly physically demanding. So I am lacking time and strength to do anything outside of it. Needless to say I am growing more frustrated about my life by the minute. I noted down some of the questions you asked about what could be the bare minimum that fits naturally into my lifestyle. I'm going to think about that and the answers will hopefully help me get back on my feet. Thank you again, have a lovely day! Anna
I had no idea you’ve struggled with your speech, you cannot tell! One of the things I love most about your videos is your delivery so taking time to slow down and be mindful is totally working for you 🙌🏻 Thanks for another great video 🙏🏻
Thank you, I'm slowly building up courage to get on social media and start a channel. Thanks for answering George's question, because it is something I struggle with; along with feeling like no one would be interested in me, but I digress. Great video!
“What is the simplest thing I can do?” This is good! I definitely spend a lot of time consuming. Thank you for talking about content creation realistically. ❤
Hi Latasha! I've been watching your videos for a while and want to start making my own content too! I'm just a bit concerned with my privacy. How do you ensure that you have a digital presence without people getting too close into your personal life? With AI evolving so rapidly, I fear that my likeness could be exploited in some way if I put myself out there too.
Great video thanks for sharing. I’ve committed to at least 1 video a week for 2 years, was so afraid to start and so glad I did, wish I would have started sooner! I am a full time medical provider and working mom and can find the time for video creation somehow, and I love it!
NOT at all! You look great! You sound great and you help us so much! I was listening to you not even watching until you mentioned it HAHA. You've helped me so much! Thanks!
Love your openness and honesty about things! I noticed that I have episodes when I’m super creative and feel good in my skin and then at other times it’s the opposite. So I try to batch my content in the good phases so I don’t have to produce with low energy
You know what pulled me to this video when I stumbled upon it while scrolling; it was the thumbnail excuses. Appearance is definitely something that hinders my own content creating process but your perspective and insight in this video has truly encouraged myself to push through at the end of the day! You’re spot on with explaining how to overcome those rejection thoughts! Thank you 💖💖💖
Thank you Latasha for keeping it real on your videos. This was the compassionate kick in the pants I needed to get me out of my procrastination& doubts ❤

Great insight and pep talk! Going to create a posting plan (one of my barriers) and get to posting tomorrow. I have the time and now need to take action, thanks!
I wholeheartedly agree that the only way to get better is to just do it. It's very interesting how "afraid" and hesitant we can be to just get started. With regard to the image thing, for some reason somewhere along the last 10 years or so culture changed and it was no longer "acceptable" to say certain things-thats a whole other long topic but the fact is that someone being good looking does help or add an advantage. And this isnt a bad thing, no one should apologize for being pretty or handsome or fit or thin or successful or whatever. We all have different tools to work with and in entertainment looks have always matttered. Heck, if anything, if someone is concerned about this specific area then I would tell them to take it as a challenge or an opportunity to better their appearance, be it by better grooming or getting healthier.
I absolutely love your videos and you always speak so gracefully. I love the visual but also listen to audio only at times! So happy to see how you've grown although I've been subscribed to your for a while, I've never seen one of your super old videos! Keep being great Latasha, you have a uniqueness about you that can't be learned and I love that! 💕
