  • Acebeam H16 review ultra light headlamp high CRI 14500 Nichia 519a
    Small and lightweight with a lot to like. High CRI excellent build, IPX8, a good headband, AA fall back a recipe for a top tier light. Let down by no E-lock in the U.I. so i had to drop this to an 8. If you don't care about that though this is a 9 out of 10. I enjoyed carrying and hiking with this light.

    Just for info. Here in the US the price seems to have settled to about 24 US dollars on Amazon. The Original price I saw on Amazon was 49, so I don't know how long they will hold at this price. That is a good point about type C to C charging. I agree with everything you said in the review. I very much like this headlamp, especially for working close up indoors. I only have one tiny nit pick with the UI and its so minor I hesitate to bring it up. For me the stepping between light levels is a bit sluggish. Other than that this has become the headlamp I grab more than any other. Thanks for another excellent review with really useful beam comparisons.

      The UI response was something I didn't think of so good point. I agree with you here this is a really great little light. Plus it's a very good brand, Acebeam make solid and well made lights. Love it.

    Hi, I am looking at this H16, and also the Olight Perun 2 mini, and comparing outputs and runtimes, but it's really all about the battery isn't it? The Olight doesn't look like it has great runtimes, but it is supplied with a 650mAh 16340, whereas the H16 is supplied with a 920mAh 14500. A quick search tells me I can get a 2800mAh 16340, and a 3800mAh 14500, so wouldn't that dramatically increase the runtimes for each light? I'm confused about why the manufacturers limit themselves in this way.
    Sidenote, I understand the olight battery is a custom design, but think I'm correct in saying that a standard 16340 would work fine, it would just need to be charged outside the torch and not with their magnetic ring thingy. Please tell me if you know otherwise. Thanks for the great review!

    Think I made a mistake getting the 1000 lumen? Think it's actually not as cool as advertised but don't have it yet, gonna use for jogging and woods so kinda wanted high cri but to late, hope it nice

    What I don't get why don't these light companies always include a e-lock and why not include a firefly/sublumen light output mode? Does it add tot he cost? These should be standard features and I don't understand why omit them.

      I agree with you. its either lazy design or they think people dont care? Those are guesses of course as i just dont know.

      I know it should be standard to have a true firefly mode, why does samsung design phones so you cant shut the screen off stow in pocket while walking and continue to listen to keep music playing, instead it gets paused constantly in pocket forcing you to freeze your hands to fix it plus why have screen on in pocket when listening to music. Its just plane stupid and ide have gotten motorola had i known its the moat unintuiitve design flaw to me, my god, dumbasses, lets force them to drain battery life for the entertainment of pocket lindts said one engineer

      @@CrabbyPattydelight I know the app NewPipe can playback audio while running on the lock screen. And I know the audio player Antenna Pod can do the same thing.

      And why don’t they do a clip, that stays below the lens when turned to the front? If it was, one could let the lamp ride in the pocket only emitting out.
      Like this you have to position it on the outside. Risky!

    2 hours is a little low. People have suggested the olight run 2 does it have cri? It's 89$

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  10 месяцев назад

      The Perun 2 is much bigger and heavier so you get a massive cell in there but you lose the high CRI.

    • @Valorking_
      @Valorking_ 10 месяцев назад +1

      @TrailTrek do you have a high cri you would recommend with atleast 8 hours battery for a search and rescue setting?

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  9 месяцев назад +2

      @@Valorking_ Hmm 8 hours is a tall order the only way to get that is to use a light that allows it to be used while charging and plug it into a power pack. Would that be something you would accept or would it get in the way? I think you may need to go for something like a fenix with a separate cell on the back of the head on the headband.

    This one is better than Manker e03 ii?

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek  9 месяцев назад +2

      The manker will give you less throw and more of a diffuse beam by the look of it but you can still get a high CRI on the manker so its very similar.

      @@TrailTrek Also H16 has bad runtime with AA.
