I was behind the camera, and the people who showed us around the college were Karl Leis, Michaela Lazaro, and Vincent Saavedra.

How good were u at the solfege, theory, dictation part of the audition or did u screw up a bit?

Hello! Sorry sa late reply kasi ngayon lang ako nagka-free time ulit hehe. I’m currently taking AA Composition. According to schedule, I should have graduated na from AA but I still have to take 3 more subjects in my curriculum before I move to BM. This upcoming semester is my third year na, and pwede namang ipaghalo yung AA and BM-required subjects through advancement na sinusulat pa for approval sa college board. (If you’re here you’ll eventually understand what I mean)
What made me get in composition talaga was my two years of prior music education sa SHS. I took music as my strand for SHS (and I was totally new sa music back then) and there I was educated with basic music theory and piano which I majored in. Personally, although I don’t have absolute pitch, I knew within me that I had a good inner ear that I developed and still am developing to this very day.
When I was auditioning for UP back then when face-to-face classes pa lang, divided into two parts siya: music theory exam, and audition. Two separate days ito nagaganap. Sa music theory exam, ito yung exam under pen and paper and dapat makapass ka dito before advancing to the next part which is the audition for what you’re majoring in. For composition, we had to submit two original compositions. For this day also we had to do our solfege and dictation. (the unique thing that we had to do for dictation is to notate the bahay kubo song from memory, at least a snippet of it lang naman) I didn’t do anything unique really, I felt that it was miraculous that I passed because during the interview portion with some of the faculty of the composition department, I had a strong feeling that I wasn’t gonna make it.
Ever since nag pandemic, ganito na ang setup talaga. Nakakamiss marinig yung tunog ng nageensayo sa loob ng college pati yung mga recitals and yung galaan, pati na rin yung mga harang (gig) na natatanggap mo :< kinakaya naman, pero I guess I’m surviving naman and hopefully nagtthrive na rin hahaha.
Edit: recently concluded na pala ang auditions sa UP CMu ah! What course did you have in mind? Did you audition ba for this year?

Ask ko lang if u take entrance exam pa po or diretso audition na?? and bawal po ba na ABM ang strand na kinuha sa shs :((( i saw sa other yt vid comments kasi eh

Hello po tanong ko lang if kailangan pa ang 2 years ng Certificate of Music bago makapasok sa DCPMA na 5 years?
Hello! Yung dating DCPMA program ay napalitan na po ng AA program (Associate in the Arts). Same lang po sila na ladderized program pero mas streamlined na po, bale 2 years of AA lang required then graduate ka na, and then if you want just add 2 more years and makukuha mo na po ang BM mo.
Hindi naman need ng certificate of music degree para makapag audition, basta po’t at least SHS grad kayo and maipasa ninyo ang theory exam and audition. Punta na lang po kayo sa website ng UP College of Music, thanks!

@@popoolos478 Yes po if kakayanin po, pero malamang sa malamang kasi nadedelay talaga ang students.(maximum of 6 years, 3 years max residency sa AA, 3 years max residency sa BM)
Marami pong factors, tulad ng pahirapan kumuha ng mga general subjects at PE. Don’t worry kasi normal naman po ang madelay dito and hindi naman affected ang pagiging honors. (if hahabol po kayo for laude) Paswertihan lang talaga sa pre-enlistment ng subjects. If gusto niyo po talagang ipagkasya sa 4 years, may midyear term naman po kung saan may subjects na available during the summer.

Hi lods, mahirap ba pumasok sa college of music?
Sabi nga nila, mahirap daw makapasok sa UP pero mas mahirap ang makalabas dito. Not to discourage you, but as you are entering an institution with such high caliber and prestige, know that you are taking on a challenge to become the best person you can be. Kung kinakaya naman namin ngayon, naniniwala akong makakaya mo rin. Good luck!

Ay hello, sorry nabusy ako this past sem! Nakakuha ka ba ng theory exam? Kumusta? Hindi ako familiar sa sistema ng online auditions ngayon eh dahil sa napagdaanan ko dati noong face to face pa
