Hi Hi Joyce, FYI, Cantonese widely spoken in KL/Central region, Negeri Sembilan, just as Mandarin, commonly spoken everywhere (whole M'sia) by younger generation. Follow by the other dialects, mainly based on the regions. Northern M'sia mainly Hokkien, Teo Chew same as Southern M'sia. And there lot of Hakka in Central, and Hainanese. And not to mention many of those in East M'sia too, Foochow, Hakka etc
KL is a great city. If you look forward to food as you said, I'd head over to Lot 10. Phenomenal options for Chinese food. And, just outside the entrance there are some good tiny little restaurants as well.
If you like Char siew, go restaurant name Char Siew Yoong or Restoran Meng Kee Char Siew( abit outskirt of town if no traffic is about 25 to 30mins near Glemarie(neighbourhood)) and of course famous roasted pork Wong Mei Kee( near to town), enjoy!
Hi Joyce, I'm Chinese European based in HK. Love travelling and do it mostly alone (weekend breaks etc). Would love to travel/hang out with you, big fan of chilling and eating :)
Welcome to Malaysia! There is musical fountain performance at night at KLCC park daily. The weather is quite hot recently, do take a lot of water when go outside.
Welcome to Malaysia Joyce! We Malaysians welcome you! Have a great time here and you can always ask around if you need any directions or just grab around its quite convenient! Stay safe and have fun! =)
Hi Joyce, you should try the Hokkien mee at Lot 10 food court (opposite Pavilion). It's an iconic food amongst the K.L. Chinese. It's a dark soy sauce noodle with wok hei.
Every foreigner that comes to Kuala Lumpur always ends up in all the same places you went, KLCC, Pavilion, Lot10, Sg Wang, Imbi, Jln Alor. Yesterday I brought a friend from Indonesia to places she has never heard of before because she was staying at Bukit bintang area and only walk around there and Chinatown😂. I brought her to Bangsar Shopping centre to eat Japans famous Hokkaido soft serve ice cream that I have been craving for. She has never heard of the area Bangsar before after coming to KL very often few times a year😂
Basically what you're eating is just the average Chinese food sold by those famous local brand names.. For real authentic Chinese/Cantonese you need to go to the Pudu district/area 😊
i actually enjoy solo trips a lot. i get to do what i want when i want. no compromises especially on holidays when time is precious and you're spending a lot of money
Are you going to Penang or any other Malaysia area after this? I loved Penang (Island) so much, I couldn't say no to a full sea view condo there in prepping for my retirement next year. Malaysia is awesome!!!!
I think the problem is that you don't speak to those Chinese in mandarin or Cantonese or any dialects. Honestly, did you ever INITIATE talks/ communicate with the locals Chinese here in English or Chinese? We are responding to what language the initiators would utilize - if they spoke in Malay, we would reply in Malay, if they spoke in English, Hokkien, Mandarin, Hakka or Cantonese.. then we would respond accordingly. 最好就認識幾個當地人👍🏻🫰🏻 Basically, the people here are friendly and helpful because we are pretty relax/laid-back and less stress 😎🚵🏻🧘🏻⛹🏻 Welcome to Malaysia. 要正能量满满,才会幸福满满🫰🏻 🧘🏻 🧘🏻♀️
