Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. The contest is called "Showmaskgoon". Nine vocalists performed nine songs in nine styles in nine tours. The producer of the show invited one guest to the jury of the competition for each round. The jury consisted of nine contestants and one guest. Each member of the jury evaluated the opponent's performance on a 10-point system in each round. The contest hosts announced the winner after counting all the points in the final. Diana won! Diana scored more points than all the famous rivals.
When Ankudinova first came to broader attention in 2017, her range was measured as D3 to A5. As of September 2021, her functional range was measured as C3 to B♭5. Together with her tessitura, it identifies her potential voice type as dramatic contralto, the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice. As of August 2023 her upper range reached D6 in the song "The Day You..."
The producer of the contest invited Diana Ankudinova when she became an adult (18 years old). This competition of adult singers was the first in her career. Before that, Diana performed in children's competitions and took first places everywhere or received the Grand Prix (more than 50 awards). 🤔

In the US we've never seen a competition like this. All the judges are also the competitors in the competition - thus all the different costumes. In this case all the competitors were famous as winners of other competitions in Russian TV over several seasons. Diana was the youngest in the group, so all the others are performers she has admired for years.

Diana recently finished performing on the Russian version of the Masked Singer Show at the age of 19. On the first five performances, she disguised her voice so the performances didn’t attract much attention and I didn’t know the show existed. But then with the sixth performance, California Dreaming, she dropped the voice disguise and the next morning I knew about it on the other side of the world.

I used to live in Nashville...Goodlettsville to be specific for my work. 😍Love Tennessee and the people (I'm from Texas). This is a show that was on Russian TV for a couple of months and the singers had to sing in a different genre each week. There are no judges per se, because the people on the jury are fellow singers. Diana sits up there when she isn't singing. Each week they rated each other from 1-9 and Diana ended up with the highest point total although she was just a teenager who was the youngest and least established singer of the group. Diana has many covers and originals but if you backtrack a little you will probably love her live performance on Russian TV of Wicked Game at the age of 15 years old. Diana is a contralto and has a powerful, full and deep lower register and has the most unique tone of voice. Enjoyed your video. 👍🏻

It's a competition, which she won. Those people are judges and competitors, except the first judge that spoke. Diana started singing at the age of 5 to improve her speech - she had a very serious stutter. She has a lot of scars, literal and psychological, from the abuse she suffered from her biological mother. At 2.5 years old she was found alone, at night, with a broken collar bone and ended up in an orphanage. At the age 5 she got lucky, she was adopted and that saved her. She started singing at 5, but got the vocal coach at 14, after another competition, where a visit to a specialist revealed nodules on her vocal cords. Luckily she avoided surgery, just medication and rest. She is getting better and better. You want to react to her version of What a Wonderful World. Enjoy the journey!

Diana, a unique singer, songwriter and actress from Russia was born in May, 31. 2003 in the Far East of Russia. She is 1,65m/ 5,41ft tall.
Diana didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to Diana did not love her child, cruelly abused him and tried to drown him.
The 3 year old Diana was found at a bus stop with a broken collarbone and taken to an orphanage. There she finally found love ... from Irina Ponik, a massage therapist. Taking a young child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years. Start all over again and be a mom again? Yes!!! Diana came into a poor but loving family at the age of 5 and she got the best mom that could happen to her.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. The doctor recommended singing lessons and so, Uncle Sasha discovered Diana’s talent and perfect pitch, and singing teacher Elena Kazantseva shaped her voice and confidence. During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Her mom, Irina Ponik, turned her whole life inside out and started all over with a new motherhood and many new professions - seamstress, manager, vlogger… admirable.
Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget.
Irina accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary. It is admirable how she promotes her daughter's career, teaching her how to fly but makes sure that she is down to earth Remains. Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2012, Irina's family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who bore her would kidnap her.
In 2017 Diana went to Moscow, to 'The Voice Kids'. The next day, a huge scandal erupted on social media. A door had closed, but a new door opened...
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered a competition 'You are Super and won twice. That project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition especially for adopted and orphaned children.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to RUclips and soon Diana had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists to start their studies and promote their creativity. Diana won a scholarship and Igor Krutoy (Russian music titan, billionaire, juror and sponsor) gave her a small apartment (37m²/ 398.26 ft²) in Moscow. There she lives with her mother and grandmother and was able to start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy. (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020). Her Russian fans helped her and found a new voice coach: Alexandra Pismennaya (Sasha), who was a student of Prof. Donskoy. She and Diana are on the same wavelength and even became friends.
Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. She also has a perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm was exceptional even as a little girl. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest and lowest female voice type (her range C3-D7). Her voice has natural polyphonic overtones and sometimes specifically an undertone = sub harmonic. (You hear the voice an octave lower than Diana sings. It's not that you hear a clear tone straight away, it's more that you feel like there's something in Diana's voice or the song has been edited. Not everyone can hear that.)
Undertone singing is a singing technique that belongs to the main category of overtone singing in which the vibration mode of the vocal cords is modulated to produce sounds that are below the singing tone.
In contrast to overtone singing, these tones are not overtones (i.e. integral multiples of the fundamental, but integral divisors of the fundamental, so-called sub harmonics.)

The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 - E6. Her genres are folk rock, folk pop, but also jazz, soul, blues, evergreens... and always in the unique Diana style... Tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically so far. She plays the piano and ukulele. In 2022 Diana released her first self-written and composed songs..
But Diana is not only a great singer and storyteller. She lives her songs and touches our hearts and souls. But also she looks beautiful and she is a humble, smart and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. We are Diana's 'friends' and support her. Diana really appreciates that her friends helped to improve her home studio and also sponsored her first album. The Russian friends have chosen Diana as their 'national treasure'. I think it is our 'earth treasure'.
Dimash Qudaibergen is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home... And when you hear her voice, you feel like she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and served you a mug of hot, dark chocolate. Every song is a unique experience, it captivates you, you feel bound by magic. Diana doesn't just sing, she creates worlds... and goosebumps. We also call her goosebumps queen or shaman princess.
2020 Diana graduated from high school with honors as an external student a year earlier as “normal”, applied to music colleges and was rejected (examiners suspected she had a voice defect). But she is normal and healthy. Now she is a student at the university, at the legendary Russian State Institute for Theater and Variety Arts (Juilliard similar to GITIS).
In October 2021 Diana was invited to her first adult contest on Russian television 'The ShowMaskGoOn'. She won!!!
In December 2021, Dianas released her first CD with great success. Maestro Krutoy had introduced Diana to the excellent singer, songwriter and producer Brandon Stone. With Maria Tarasenko (songwriter), the trio created the 9 songs of the album and received gold in June 2022.
