Man Kyle I haven’t seen that many leeches since the State of the union address. Nice video 😂

Appreciate your enthusiasm and taking the moment to enjoy the morning! Our lake place isn't too far from you and every year when the bait shops run out of leeches, our fishing kinda stops. But not anymore!!!

Get yourself a fine screen bowl. Dump em, rinse, then into clean bucket. Much faster/easier 🙌🏼

Excellent lesson! Thank you for taking time to share with us! The crop stores food, while the Gizzard Grinds. The crop is soft and non-muscular. The gizzard is thick-walled and very muscular. That was a gizzard. So cool to see the leeches inside that heart! Also neat that you raise chickens...we have some for laying. Thanks again! Dave

Ahh thanks! Yes the livers work very well so is figured I’d try other pieces or chicken too.

We use heavy plastic bags in ND, not allowed to use metal anymore. Punch holes in them and a small rock with a string and float. Use black plastic, so sun doesn’t chase them out again in the morning

If it is not too much trouble, could you make a video of using leeches to go fishing? I would love to see how you use it and see what fish bites. Thanks.

May I ask, do you feed the leeches when they are under the bench in storage? Or can they survive for months with just fresh water?

what happens to the leach when you go into late summer and they disappear?

    • @Wisconsin_Fisherman

The ones I keep end up dying off or all getting used up. The ones in the pond burrow deep into the ground to stay cool

I never over fish my limit...however I do keep more than I am suppose to in the freezer. Last year I put 220 filletts ( 110 pickerel) in the freezer from my all summer pickerel fishing. We had pickerel twice a week for dinner 😊all winter here in the north. I am definately going to trap my own leeches.Last summer I went pickerel fishing twice a week for about 14 weeks and spent over 300 bucks buying them 😮 no more 🖕

I wouldn't eat them that often unless they are from a Reservoir. They accumulate mercury and PCBs depending on the water source, and most states in New England recommend 2 servings per month per person.
