Man Kyle I haven’t seen that many leeches since the State of the union address. Nice video 😂
Appreciate your enthusiasm and taking the moment to enjoy the morning! Our lake place isn't too far from you and every year when the bait shops run out of leeches, our fishing kinda stops. But not anymore!!!
Get yourself a fine screen bowl. Dump em, rinse, then into clean bucket. Much faster/easier 🙌🏼
Thank you!! Great idea!
Great video and lots of information. Keep up the great work
For some reason I love your leech videos, great tips!
Thanks!!
You do it all buddy! Awesome!
nice.
definitely set the traps close to shore. that first one was well overloaded.
nice video as always
Nice work Kyle.
Nice to see a good haul! Loved the frogs in the background.
You bet nature is amazing and sometimes you just gotta take it in!
Great info!
Thank you so much brother
Excellent lesson! Thank you for taking time to share with us! The crop stores food, while the Gizzard Grinds. The crop is soft and non-muscular. The gizzard is thick-walled and very muscular. That was a gizzard. So cool to see the leeches inside that heart! Also neat that you raise chickens...we have some for laying. Thanks again! Dave
Ahh thanks! Yes the livers work very well so is figured I’d try other pieces or chicken too.
Very cool. Still gross... 😂 great video!
Very cool 👍👍
We use heavy plastic bags in ND, not allowed to use metal anymore. Punch holes in them and a small rock with a string and float. Use black plastic, so sun doesn’t chase them out again in the morning
I was wondering if I could do that!! I’ll definitely be trying that
Leeches are in short supply this year in WNY. You got a lot of $ there.
❤❤❤❤
If it is not too much trouble, could you make a video of using leeches to go fishing? I would love to see how you use it and see what fish bites. Thanks.
You bet I actually did a video last year of that
May I ask, do you feed the leeches when they are under the bench in storage? Or can they survive for months with just fresh water?
Also, excellent video.
Can I ask what state are you in?
Some people don't realize that the end with the sucker is the tail and isn't the part that draws blood.
what happens to the leach when you go into late summer and they disappear?
The ones I keep end up dying off or all getting used up. The ones in the pond burrow deep into the ground to stay cool
Did you ever try cutting your slots just on the top side like you said?
I haven’t
Great video 👏🏾👏🏾 But never swimming in that water ever
When you store your leeches do you feed them and would it be ok to keep them in a fridge?
I don’t feed them. Just fridge
Thanks Kyle been watching your videos with a cup of coffee on this 21 below zero morning.@@Wisconsin_Fisherman
How do you feed them for longer storage?
No feeding they do not take any
I never over fish my limit...however I do keep more than I am suppose to in the freezer. Last year I put 220 filletts ( 110 pickerel) in the freezer from my all summer pickerel fishing. We had pickerel twice a week for dinner 😊all winter here in the north. I am definately going to trap my own leeches.Last summer I went pickerel fishing twice a week for about 14 weeks and spent over 300 bucks buying them 😮 no more 🖕
I wouldn't eat them that often unless they are from a Reservoir. They accumulate mercury and PCBs depending on the water source, and most states in New England recommend 2 servings per month per person.
store them ? wtf do u use them for? bait? honest question
Yes bait lol
That kinda looks like lural lake ngl
Is this medicinal leech ?
How to identify ?
Ribbon leech used for fishing
I’m assuming that’s well water you have?
Yes
did he just say gizzard 🥺 wasting one of the best foods besides the liver and heart wich are my favorite 😋🤤
Not wasting it using it for a different purpose
I use beef liver and kidneys
everyone has their own opinion ill use the intestines and what not but the liver, heart and gizzards will be going into my stomach before anything else
I can't believe you'd use leeches to fish with. Also, I hope you don't eat anything out of that lake. That's disgusting.
There are no fish in it or size and it’s actually really clean
