It’s always nice when you need to drop 400 watts just to keep from falling over. Some beautiful climbs and you make the suffering look enjoyable thanks again
Good morning phillip, I'm watching the vlog after my morning run. A challenging track from start to finish. Congratulations my friend. The roads and nature are very beautiful. But the village roads are bad. You look perfect by the way. You are great mentally. Hello friend. #bikeracingwithoutmercy
I very much hope you had another good run, Atakan - you are very fast indeed Sir! Ibiza is a really enchanting Island to explore - and certainly the road on Puig Den Serra was …. Challenging 🤣. But the rest of the roads are pretty good. Thanks also for your very kind and generous comments - it’s a big life for me!
Cheers Boris - I massively enjoyed cycling the Island in your company and hugely appreciate all the amazing camera work🙏. And congrats on your podium today !! See you in ‘24 💯
Hi Paul - and apologies for the delay. Work has been as unrelenting as the Den Serra climb ….. I had a 34 cassette on the rear - which helped. But I still had low cadence for chunks of it and was out the saddle on the steepest bits . Hope you and the family are keeping well
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy No apologies required Phil 🙏🏾 We all know that life’s commitments take over sometimes and can be all consuming. The family are good thanks but I’m still struggling with 2 severely prolapsed discs which are proving to be rather challenging. I hope you and yours are doing well ✊🏾
Worse 😂 - albeit no pothole the size of the one on Hardnott !! And you did indeed see a plane landing - they fly in low over the outdoor club - my kids were watching Kelvin Harris …. Who ever he is !! Hope life is good for you
Nice!!! Conquering those rugged Ibiza roads on your racing bike look incredibly good! 🚴♂️😅😀Your adventurous spirit is as captivating as the scenery. 😀Keep sharing your thrilling journeys - can't wait to see more! 💪😘
So sorry for the delay in my reply, FastBreak ! Work has been a little relentless . Ibiza is indeed very very pretty - amazing to explore (albeit I wasn’t expecting anything as steep and rugged as Den Serra ! I’m editing up my Haute Route Dolomites - will take a while longer yet. Hope all is good for you !
Hi Agnes - it’s lovely to hear from you and I hope you are making some progress and feeling a little stronger. Puig Den Serra is a really incredible challenge - but extremely beautiful and gratifying to complete. And for sure Velo Club Ibiza showed me just how charming and pretty Ibiza is - I’ll be back again next year !
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy Thank you, Phill. I am still in chemo treatment (1/3th of the way), so still not so strong, but looking forward to building myself up so I perhaps will be able to ride in Ibiza too one time ;) What a great tip, cycling Ibiza (in stead of the bussy Mollorca).
@@agnesrosalinde Jayne and I send much love and very much wish you success in the chemo . And certainly - a little adventure in the sun is something very positive to work towards through this stressful time
Fantastic....I've not been to Ibiza looks great away from the busy parts. You looked very well catered for by Veloclub by the looks of it. Being well supported takes the worry out of getting lost or wishing you'd serviced your bike before going. Nice one Phill....cheers! 😁💪
Hi Wayne - and thanks ever so much 🙏 ! It’s great to hear from you! And I hope your new scorpion friends are behaving themselves !! For sure I loved being able to have a relaxing holiday with the family - and also get out for 3 early morning rides in a beautiful and quiet island. And I agree - having a local guide makes a massive difference - avoids time spent planning and replanning routes, getting lost - and missing the gems. I’d have never found Puig Den Serra or the Punta Grossa climb without Boris and VeloClub 💯
Ha ha GC - it was an unrelenting steep steep ascent ! I had a 34 cassette on the rear - but you’ll see the cadence was not high for much of the climb - and I was out the saddle on the steepest bits !
Simon is a great guy. I can also recommend to contact him if anyone is going to ibiza to cycle. As you say once you're away from Ibiza town and San Antonio its a quiet island which is great for cycling. Personally if I was just cycling I'd be heading to Mallorca or Gran Canaria but Ibiza has much more to offer. If you want a holiday with various things and cycling then Ibiza is a great option.
Cheers Euros 🙏 - I really appreciate you adding your very positive perspective . And I very much agree. PS I tried to join your Evo ride on Saturday, but had a heart rate monitor issue and started 30secs too late and couldn’t chase back on !!
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy I saw you were signed up. Its an issue with zwift as if you join a few seconds after it starts the leader is too close so you don't get moved to the group. What you can do is end the ride (not quit the event) and rejoin. Then you should join the group. Aguante is on each saturday, its just not me leading it. Its a fun, if can be tough, B cat 100km interval ride. I blew myself up on saturday. The last climb I was done, crawling up at about 3.3 😂
@@euroswilliams7303ahhh - I didn’t know that !! And for sure I’ll take part again - it’s the perfect pacing for me. Proper hard - but just at the right end of challenging. You’ll be proper strong come ‘24 leading these 💪
@@BikeRacingWithoutMercy I was just covering for the usual leaders on Saturday as they were on holiday or had other plans. Unlikely I'll be leading another of these unless they were desperate. Within my training plan my current aim is to work on my aerobic fitness hence these don't fully align with my needs and as they are on the weekend, where I can spend longer in the saddle, my aim is to do base rides. Maybe come the new year I'll be riding these again or when they are desperate for a leader again. If these fit your plan I'd definitely recommend them, they can be a tough session but the group is fantastic with some great banter. When Vamos returns on a Monday night, that is also a great session!
What a climb, what a view! A sensational rival to the Cowlyd 😍 loved the juxtaposition of your kids having a good time vs you having a... "good" time? 😂 Great video as always matw
Cheers Nick - you’d adore Puig Den Serra - right out the Snowdonia playbook - but almost guaranteed good weather !! And thanks very much for the nice perception of my little contrast with the kids !
Hi Phill, seems like forever since we last interacted. Wonderful video and some serious climbs, but what views. Hope all is well with you and Jayne and you’re well and truly settled into the new home now.
Hi Tony - it’s really lovely to hear from you! I’ve not been consistent in my videos - so less chance for banter ! I really hope you, your family and dog have enjoyed our mad weather summer - and I often think of you when I see progress in Ukraine 🇺🇦. Life is getting back towards normal - now I’m pretty much recovered from the injuries and also transitioning (hopefully) to a little less stress at work! Jayne is here usual calm and lovely self 💯 I hope to post a bit more often from now on ! Speak soon - Phill
I think you must’ve been given the wrong bike Phill I would say probably 80% of that lot would’ve been done better on a gravel bike. Jesus them climbs the bloody rough 😂
🤣 Nick - yes, Boris said that he usually rides Puig Den Serra on his mountain bike - and they race up it !! He said he’d ridden it once on his road bike - and offered to chaperone me up it - and boy ohhh boy it’s was a brute !!
🤣 indeed 💯 - I wandered if you’d comment again! I couldn’t believe how much I adjusted them when I did the edit ……. Was the same day as last time …. But not exactly helpful when plotting my way up Puig Den Serra 😅

I had to check the date when I've seen that beautiful weather 😄 steep hills and beautiful views - they treated you well !
🤣 somewhat drier than Porlock, PAM !! Ibiza provided a lovely contrast to the Alps and UK 👌. Here’s to a little more good weather this autumn 🍂
