      @@pureheaven8647 It’s farrrr easier if you started playing drums and singing at the same time. Many people who seem like naturals at it started both at the same time. I know I’m saying the obvious, all you do naturally is separate your breathing from certain body actions. A lot of players, like guitar players like me, hold their breathe in specific ways when they play. And they reinforce that over time. People who do breathe work at the same time as playing, separate the two. And some people just have the pure luck of doing that when they were young. Jimi Hendrix said he sang because everyone else was singing. Who knows the reasons, but people who sing and play the same time don’t have a superpower, it’s more that others don’t realize the abilities they have if they change their perception of their normal body engagement.

People complained that they couldn't properly see her onstage, or that she wasn't acting "ladylike." Please! We had enough female singers like Barbra and Diana who "just" stood there with the microphone...Karen had two legs up on them by being an instrumentalist, an actual musician. Should have been called the Karen Carpenter Trio. She's the big shot in this band. 👍

    • @DonKelleyMusic
      @DonKelleyMusic Год назад +7

      true, but her older brother on keys wrote all the songs and arrangements and rehearsed the band and was a musical genius with insane musical training.... without him she wouldn't have ever become a musician, possibly. they were both brilliant musicians, different focuses but equal gifts. he is a very good singer too, by the way.

    • @bunndumm
      @bunndumm Год назад +2

      She should have never been put in the spotlight at all. She had Anorexia, she died because of it, she just wanted to play Drums in the background but her brother and others pressured her to take the spotlight (because of how good of a singer she was) where all eyes would be on her. That made her condition way worse which resulted in her death at a tragically young age.

    Geez. Imagine being able to watch a full gig with these three. That drumming - she has utterly mastered the rudiments. If she didn't have such a beautiful voice, the record label wouldn't have dragged her away from her drums and we'd be celebrating KC as one of the drumming greats.

    Everyone in the band is amazing in his own way. And it took me so many times too watch that ab entire TV studio with audience watched and heard and nobody might have the foggiest idea about. How should anyone? They were announced as a college band and maybe they even were just a college band back then.
    Her drumming is insane, her technique is brilliant, fluid and dynamic like Buddy Rich used to taught his students to play the drums and in the same moment they are decades ahead of their time because they are OBVIOUSLY playing crazy drum& bass and/or trance shit long before it’s invention. And they need only a little more time than 2 minutes for all of this.
    Biggest treasure on RUclips for years!!

      She must have influenced so many girls to take up the drums.. I think she came from an American Marching Band background, due to her tight chop style.. I must admit I didn't get into The Carpenters later stuff, too slow and lovey songs for me.. but I also like Richards early Electric Piano riffs as well..
