These Aerospace are extremely useful for the battlefield they can destroy transports that are coming down to bring battlemechs and troops. After the Fall of the Star League it made sense that this advanced fighters are no longer produce, because they used advanced building techniques and technology.
Hey grim, enjoyed the vid. An acquaintance in tiraks discord channel runs a hellcat in our mekhq game. The hellcat is very effective, especially for its size.
Very cool grim. I was going to write about the sparrowhawk saying I would have thought it would have mainly pulse lasers but then you went through the version of it and they had pulse laser so that's what I get for jumping the gun lol as always thanks for the upload grim.
As a fan of IRL aerospace stuff, I see these designs very "Star Warsy". Do not get me wrong, I love the designs. But there is a cognitive dissonance when I imagine some of these designs entering atmosphere with real physics. Given that Star Wars was trending in 1980s, I remember that and then I turn the dissonance off in my mind and everything is Ok again to enjoy the game.
Wait, why was the sparrowhawk missile variant "unpopular"? It has missiles, which are a lot better for space and atmospheric combat than lasers. Sure, you can't carry a lot of missiles, but if you're in a prolonged fight in space or atmosphere, you're probably dead. Seriously, missiles are the primary craft-to-craft weapon for most aircraft nowawadays, so its always kind of wierd when sci-fi doesn't use them. EDIT: And the thing about missile is that you don't need them to be integral. Just slap a few missile pods under the wings and you're good to go. Did people forget how to make missiles?
It was only armed with a SRM2. The two Medium's packed more punch, and pilots also didn't have to worry about running out of ammo, or ammo explosions. Yes, they know how to make missiles; what they lost during the Succession wars, was the manufacturing capability to make smart weapons. Pretty much from the End of the First War, all SRM'S and LRM's basically became 'dumb fire' spray and pray.
@@BoisegangGaming No problem. That was kind of a simplified answer. The whole loss of Technology is a whole nother story, and kinda interesting. Scary part? It could happen.
@@BoisegangGaming To expand on that a little, because as @Greg Domenico says its a bit of a simplified answer, from what we know of lost Star League technology like the TAG, the NARC Beacon, and the Artemis IV System it had become effectively impossible for smart weapons as we know them to achieve any sort of lock on enemy targets due to advances in defence systems by the time of the Star League. This meant that during the era of the Star League they used special ammunition to achieve effective long range fire with missiles, ammunition that was lost during the Succession Wars, and one of the few systems that wasn't lost during those wars appears to have been the anti-conventional ECM that had made missiles less effective, either that or the Inner Sphere forgot how to make conventional missiles as well due to either the Succession Wars or because they hadn't been in use during the Star League era.
Calling sensor information "simple" just screams that the original ideas for this date from the late 1980s. I love the retrotech vibe in BT writing.

That Ahab reminds me of one of the vehicles from the old Thunderbirds puppet show.
TB2, yup I get your reference.
Well, they're both old designs. Might've gotten inspiration from shows of the time.

Good stuff. I'm on a GrimDark Rocket run!
Thank you for keeping the lore alive GDN!
Thanks. I'm sure im not the only one.

Glad you enjoyed it.
Yes please more. I really enjoy your videos.. The format and voice really makes it enjoyable.
Thank you.
I am interested in clan omnifighters and would love to see videos about them.
Would love to see more aerospace tech

@@gregdomenico1891 Ah. That actually makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Aerospace fighter from second pic cannot fly in space at all. Vector of thrust is so far away from axis of mass.
It's not "dee-butted" lol. It's "day-bewd" because French.
my bad.
