It's probably to stop hackers that are in the account from changing the password then eventually loging the owner out.

I am about to pull out my hair. I did what they said put my old pw in from Dec.2023 ok put new. One in twice fine then they said to type it in again correctly!!!!
I've put it in 6 times so tired.

For who can't change the password.
You did it and it asked you to enter the forgotten password repeatedly, right? The solution is to log in in the Browser. It will ask you to enter a phone number. > Select the account you want to log in > Press forgot password > Enter the desired new password. I did it in the browser and it didn't let me enter the password that I forgot. It changed for you ^^

This doesn’t work for me. I don’t know the current password but I am logged in on my phone. When I go to forgotten password it still wants the current password to change it. It’s been months and I’ve no clue 🕵️‍♀️

On my iphone 7 I don't see the "menu" icon. Or _any_ of those icons on the bottom of my screen. I forgot my password change 6 months ago. Facebook password change "key" doesn't show up on my phone every time I request it using my desktop computer. Frustrating. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been there. You just have to wait for it to refresh for a few hours then come back again to do a new pass. Fb can be so sensitive it's irritating and don't forget to write it down when fb accepts it so you won't lose it again!
