So NBA 2k14 is a fan favorite, an arguably has some of the best graphics the series has seen, so i decided to try an update the roster to 2020, any players that came in the league after 2014 aren't included!

@@texdrew7471 im just saying that there is no progress between2k14 and 2k17 in some feature 2k14 is still better that 2k17 even it was 60$ in that time. Yeah i also played 2k17 a lot but the graphic and player was too slender and blurry.
It's a shame the lighting never got back to this level. Literally the reason it still looks so good

The graphic change from 2k13 to 2k14 was the most dramatic but ain’t no way in hell y’all can sit here and say 2k14 graphics better than 2k21 bro cmon.
21 definitely looks better but they gameplay on 14 is so much more fluid. It feels like you’re moving in quicksand on 21

I don’t think graphics are the problems with 2k games. If anything, 2k usually has some of the best graphics you’ll see in a sport game.
The jersey movement, lighting, and movement it’s self are better than next gen. It’s crazy that this game looks just as good if not better than next gen.
@Stop motion mayhem 2k21 has better graphics sure but when it comes to gameplay and animations it sucks. The last great 2k was 2k16, anything since then is trash

This graphics reminds me of back in the middle school days when I played 2k14 with my friends in our living room and my dad decided to sit on the couch to watch some “live” basketball game with us. Nowadays I still buy this game but not until 1 year after each update’s initial release date
Facts I get so much nostalgia from watching this it reminds me how me and my friends was really competitive and actually enjoyed the game 💯

The player models and animations do look worse, but still; 2K14 just has the best lighting/overall look out of all the games. It's truly a shame that the game's graphics didn't improve significantly and even worse, regressed throughout the years; possibly to further sell the improvement of 2K21 for next-gen, which even then doesn't look so much beter.

The thing i love in 2k14 is the jersey movement animation. 2k14's jersey really looks real life to me the way the jerseys move when the player is moving or rebounding the jerseys moves accordingly. 2k21 graphically has an edge to 14's but the jersey animations is the same from 18 to present. Looks glued to the body and doesn't even look like a jersey at all more like clay... plastic kinda looking jerseys doesn't look natural at all unlike 2k14's jersey where you can see every single details.

@Leonardo P Really you noticed that too i thought i was the only one😁.but I'll still put 2k14 over 16 tho. The lighting on 14 plus the jersey movement makes it feel like real life NBA game. The floating on the shoulder is only noticeable up close but ain't that much afar.
@Leonardo P Well you're not the only one fam ever since 2k16, 2k has been downgrading their own game. 2k18 by far the worst 2k and ronnie2k only cares about the players face graphics giving them alot of sweat calling it improved graphics. While the jerseys get cartoonish every year. Bruh I'm a hardcore gamer and with the graphics we have nowadays NBA 2k is clearly left out at this point
The graphics is good, and potentially able to challenge 2K21 if reshaded correctly.
But the animation, hell 21 never got a chance against this. The feet is on point, the ball positioning is pleasing to the eye, the animation speed doesnt look like they are floating in the air.
2K21 looks good in capture, but 2K14 looks great in motion. Why 2K do us dirty like this tho?

The graphics look so good cause the lighting as they went to stadiums and replicated the lighting. The removed this in later 2ks and idk if the latest one has it.
i remember when they did that and also got different commentators and crowd/ball hitting the floor and rim sounds and different chants for that stadium
2k14 animation and graphics are better than nba 2k21 next gen graphics.
I just grabbed 2k14 for a dollar at GameStop. It's crazy how much better the graphics and animation are than ever other 2k released after it.

It put way to much stress on the graphics card to keep in the next game so they had to get rid of it. If they could have kept it they probably would have, but basically you know how your PlayStation already sounds like it’s gonna blow up if they kept those graphics it would sound wayyyy worse

@@Diddddu well the thing is LeBron’s face is not like that anymore so they wouldn’t want that to be in next gen. They mainly focused on players being hyper-realistic. I don’t see how 2K14 is better than next gen. Yea it was a big jump from 2K13 to 2K14 but for me it’s not even up to par against next gen. Then again that’s just my opinion.

Honestly this still looks a bit better than 2k21 next gen just the physics of the jerseys and bodies for the most part was great and believable face scans for the superstars mainly was amazing and the lighting is still better

it was however enough just to improve the scan facing, and the sizing of the different players and it was good frankly, add the ton of animation that they currently have and we would have had a most perfectible 2k24 😢

Well you can use Graphic mods to change the look of the game on PC. I highly doubt this is on the PS4 lol

@@vsriram85 Yeah! There's a mod called Next Gen graphic mod for NBA 2K14 on the web. You'll find it if you look it up, I'm not totally sure if that is the same mod he's using in this video but it looks great.

I just realized that after 2k14 it took them 7 NBA 2k games before the graphics were ever that good again. I already knew this, but it bewilders me to think of how similar the 2k14 graphics looks to 2k21. Why did they let the graphics go downhill so much and essentially refabricate them in 2k21 for next gen? Sure, the 2k14 and 2k21 graphics aren't fundamentally the same but the quality is very similar.
P.S. They obviously only wanted to make better games for the introduction to the next gen consoles.
