    The price of cars is getting out of hand, I remember, not too long ago when you could buy one of these for around $20k. A Highlander used to cost this much back then. And NO! Wages have NOT kept up with this level of inflation in the auto industry. Buying used has become the only way to go for many people who used to be able to buy new.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  5 лет назад +10

      You're correct, pedro fernandez. And we blame all that glorious tech that is available. Most of these vehicles that used to considered "entry level" are no longer such. Hyundai still makes a $23k 2019 Tucson. It just doesn't come with all the tech that this Ultimate does. That top-o-the-line price is what we all still have to get used to. Thanks for watching!

    • @stephenhendricks103
      @stephenhendricks103 5 лет назад

      I'm shocked! Did you miss all the great benefits of MAGA? Wages skyrocketing? The "biggest tax cut in history" last year? What about the value of your stocks? If you think that inflation of prices for automobiles is a problem, try sending a kid to college. Or worse, paying for higher education for yourself. Student loan debt is now the second largest component of all consumer debt, exceeded only by mortgage debt and much, much more than debt for vehicles. And if you think the price of vehicles has already gotten out of hand, just wait for the current administration's round of tariffs on "foreign" vehicles, including those built in the US.

      @@AutoAcademics what was the price of this one you tested ? I've never bought a new car so I don't know all of the stipulations or what not but I'm seeing a decent amount of dealers showing 22-24k for the ultimate 10k off msrp. These things actually look pretty dang nice !

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  5 лет назад +1

      @@Murrayfan This particular vehicle was $34,120. And in case you're ever curious about how much any of the vehicles we review cost, and miss it at the end of the features/options rundown, we list the price in the video description, as well. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    I think this is the perfect size vehicle for me. I'm 5'8, I have 4 medium-large size dogs, and I mostly need the cargo to lug these guys around and to commute less than 10mi to work. Going to take my dad with me since he and my boyfriend will be the only other frequent drivers/passengers, both 6'2 and 6'3, respectively.
    I had an opportunity to drive a 2013 Santa Fe GLS recently and while it was smooth, it felt a bit like a boat with that 3rd row. It just seems uncessary for my needs, and newer models are just out of my price range.

    I just bought the 2020 Ultimate. My one complaint: the backup camera at night is nearly useless. For some reason, the lights blur out the view. Other than that, I love it. I've only had it for a couple of days, so we'll see.

    Went to look at a Santa Fe and a Tucson limited, Gemstone Red, with cream/grey interior caught my eye. I was very impressed with the exterior and interior fit and trim. Took it for a test ride and it was smooth and fairly quite. Made the deal (good one at that) and took it home to show my wife, her new car! She loved it.

    This is always the situation, a loaded vehicle one size below the other will always be price competitive. A loaded Santa Fe will not be price competitive with a loaded Tuscon. A loaded Tucson will be price competitive with a stripped Santa Fe.
    If I wanted a loaded Tucson, that's what I would get. If I wanted a stripper or mid range Santa Fe, that's what I would get. Both, irrespective of price of the next model above or below it. If you actually clearly know what you want, that dynamic won't sway you.

    Thanks for this video. I own a 2008 Santa Fe Limited which I love but its about time to upgrade. Since I no longer need the Santa Fe size I'm leaning towards the Tucson. Although I'd like a 2019 I'm fairly partial to the Limited trim and may need to go for a 2017 or 2018. Are the 2019 Limited upgrades worth waiting or purchasing used. Perhaps.

    We bought the 2019 Tucson ultimate and only complaint is the picture quality of the backup and side cameras. We did not notice it before buying. We were so impressed with the rest of the vehicle that we overlooked it. Totally our fault. The picture quality is very grainy and can only make out shapes, not a crisp picture at all. My 2018 ram 1500s backup camera is crystal clear, and being very similar in price we expected similar quality. We took it back to Hyundai dealership and they agreed it was pretty bad, they compared to other Tucson's and saw they all were the same quality. They elevated our issue to the corporate office which basically said "you bought it, your fault". Other than that, it's a perfect vehicle for us.

    • @hilndrose
      @hilndrose 5 лет назад +1

      I am very disappointed with the the camera quality as well. I suspect at night or during a good rain the camera would be totally useless. I hope that Hyundai might get enough complaints that they would offer a camera lens replacement/upgrade soon. Do all Hyundai cameras suck this bad?

      2019 is a new design. So they may have used different cameras. After a few days of having it and noticing it, we took it back to the dealership. Even the salesperson and manager agreed it was horrible and acted surprised. They then go into every Tucson on the lot and checked to see if ours was defective and they were all the same.

    Hyndai tucson once opon a time is my dream car... I purchased it from Concept hyundai Ahmedabad Gujarat (India) on 30th May 2018 registration no GJ 38 BA 3920 ....
    From dayone I am facing the problem of left side pulling at the speed of just 70-80 kmph.
    I complained and my car went for alignment balancing... but problem not resolved after 10-15 time my car went for alignment but status quo... they told change the tyre after 30000 km i chenged it with my expenses... after that also problem is there... 2-3 time driver seat adjustment switch got changed, now they told we hv to change the seat, seat came after 4 months of waiting ... but left or some time right side of pulling problem is out of their syllabus... now they mentioned me in their mail dated 2/07/20 after 100kmph speed you cant leave steering its dangerous but what about 70-80 kmph and sometimes it pulled out at the speed of 40-50 also. One of there service manager told this problem is there in all our old model cars... means you have to accept it n live with this faulty car n keep your n your family's life in danger!!!!
    So pls my humble request not to buy hyundai tucson or any other model of the same hyundai brand...
