Agree. I know alot of people just wanna get their army finished ASAP and get playing, but the modelling, painting and collecting side of things is just as important to me as the gaming side of things, which is why AoS draws me. So many of the models are beautiful as art pieces on a shelf, which (imo) cannot be said for much of 40k outside of a few standalone pieces. Perhaps I'm also just slightly biased to fantasy over sci-fi from an aesthetics perspective too, but either way, that's my feel
Doomfire Warlocks (the cavalery) is not core part of army :P They are actually least fitting part of any list - they do not synergize with anything in DoK army (maybe if you want to use them to cast Endless Spells easier) but GW puts them in lots of boxes, just to get rid of sprues. They are also part of "Army of Renown" - but its a piece on its own and probably taken by other armies than DoK. On Side note.. feels like our army taste are similar (Sisters 40k, DoK AoS) - should follow you more, what stuff could interest me ^__^
@@kenupton4084it’s a spell. @@ungabungacaveman9021 in Army of Renown they get chance to retreat when charged. But Army of Renown loose so much from original DoK Traits (starting with Battle Rites). And the contesting thing.. its Hero ability that can be used on any unit, not just Warlocks
5:52 One thing I noticed when I bought a few of the new Seraphon kits last year is that whilst the warscrolls ARE in the back of the instructions, it's only the bare-minimum of the statblock, at least with the Saurus and Aggradons I bought. None of the special rules such as Bite attacks for the Saurus and Primal Rage for the Aggradons. They even had a disclaimer saying that you weren't looking at the full rules. This may not be the case for all kits, and I know it certainly wasn't the case with older kits, but I thought I should mention it as an aside.
If I might make a suggestion, maybe use the horses from the upcoming Darkoath army box for your riders? It is always cool kitbashing to make your own army.... though you definitely have your hands full building 2 armies at the same time.
I got into Age of sigmar last year, and definitely my favorite TT wargame. The community is lovely, the models are incredible and the game is incredibly healthy with a wide variety of armies performing well. Definitely give it a shot if you love fantasy / wargaming !
Incredible paint job on that model! Loved what you did with the color choices and the lava basing kit was such a cool idea. I am amazed at how amazing the lava looks and the OSL all around the mini
Rich lore and background and so much scope to go with your army design and aesthetic! The mortal realms really have taken the shackles off and let your imagination run wild
Depending on what you play AOS is actually pretty affordable compared to 40K. Generally speaking the community is also way more accepting of proxies and 3d printed models.
Can confirm definitely cheaper than 40k but also yes it's not a cheap hobby. As stated 3d printing proxies or alternatively second hand minis on places like eBay and Facebook marketplace are great resources.
Beautiful paint job well done. I think you'd be able to make an amazing army. Maybe see if you and dave can put your heads together for some 3d printed parts or find some people have made to update/bring the cavalry more in line with your vision for them.
I’d love to get into AOS but first I want to get my necron army fully operational and painted. After that it’s just a manner of convincing my wallet it is a sound financial decision
the osl came out awesome and it was cool to see it on community! that phase before the lava though... i adore that state for some reason. maybe its how muted everything was and how deep the black shadows were.
Im sure youll come up with some awesome kitbashes for the calvary like you have with other armies. I got into AoS after seeing Allariele the Everqueen for the first time, in a WH store in Florida for a wedding. I havent started AoS just yet. Iv been gathering a Sylvaneth Army thats currently at 6.2k points of gray plastic, all purchased through different box sets in last 3 years, with the Vanguard box still to go. I needed to be financially smart about AoS since Im already in 2 other big games. Box sets have saved me $1.1k and for less than $900 Ill have almost finished an army. Now Im just waiting until AoS 4th edition for their battletome, or possibly sooner if they get a new Warcry team then Ill start AoS that way
Great job! I can't wait to paint her myself. She's a great model for OSL given how hunched over she is. As others have commented, Doomfire Warlocks can be safely ignored. They're not only the ugliest models in the range, but they also have some of the worst rules. I have played DoK at tournaments for the past several years with good success and have never once used them.
If you like it and you can afford it, buy it. Simple as that. Rules will always change, meta constantly changes but the joy while building and painting is what will make you love your models!
I love the app. Its so handy for building your army and looking up models you dont have to see if theyre good or not. Also it can be hard to find some of the warscrolls. And some of them get put dated. The app makes the game much easier to get into than 40k.
cant help thinking there is a crossover kit bash here some where. After uncounted horrible deaths and resurrections i cant see Saint Celestine as cheery model its is the something from a Japanese horror show with the some one is going to pay pay vibe seems to fit
Great model, looks really great - and congratulations on getting it featured on Warhammer Community. Agreed with you on Skaven, getting the models now might be a mistake as they are surely getting an update across a lot of the range - however there are some kits unlikely to change, and will even be necessary, so if Ratty Bois are your jam, today is probably the best time to try get your hands on the Gnawholes and their faction Endless Spells, as these are probably going to be a nuisance to get once AOS4.0 is announced.
AOS is the foremost tactical rock-centred wargame available. It's always a good time for monolith and masonry modelling enthusiasts to join in the...fun.
I was thinking of getting this set but was wondering if her head fits in well? I’m asking cause I was thinking of gluing it on after painting it with super glue.

First off, awesome painting as usual. Age of Sigmar does have some amazing models and Jen is definitely able to showcase the epicness of them very well imo. Next,….. AoS is strange to me. I started not just Warhammer but tabletop wargaming with AoS and I do still like it. But it’s fallen to my least favorite GW produced setting, and what is my most favorite? Fantasy/The Old World. There are a few reasons why it’s at the bottom of my list and Fantasy is up there but it’s mostly because of lore, genre of rules (rank & flank vs skirmish style), and the community of each. All in all I do still recommend people check out AoS. it is fun and they may like it. With that in mind I’d recommend they check out TOW and 40K too since they may like those just as much if not more, or they may like them less. I’ll admit if TOW was released back in early 2020 when I got into the hobby I would’ve gone for that game first but I probably would’ve still gotten those beautiful Stormcast Dragons. Heck because of The Old World launch I’m thinking of starting more armies that I can use in both games even if they are Legacy armies in TOW.
