Very nice video! Exactly covered all the things I have learned in the last couple of year. I had a huge gnat infestation problem this past winter it was getting beyond control even after I used the yellow sticky papers you shared. Eventually I bought organic larvicide powder from ebay and dissolved in water and poured that cured the issue once and for all. Thanks for the video
Great to know. Will try out organic lavicide next season.Thank you!
Thank you very much for all the information,. . .I have been struggling with my curry leaf plant for years. Your video has been very helpful. Thanks again for sharing.

Thank you for the informative video😊 I finally managed to find a small curry leaf plant on Amazon (although bit expensive 😬). It is my first time growing this plant here in Germany. Your tips will be helpful in guiding me 😊👍.
Thank you Ajay. Good luck to you! Just needs a little pampering when young but then they are set
Thank you. I have been trying to grow curry leaf plant for few years now. Has been a fail so far. I have had pest issues and winter season in the UK. It dies off as it gets no sunlight indoors. Your tips were very useful
Glad to hear that it was useful. If light is the issue you can buy grow lights on Amazon. That should help.

Well detailed explanation Vidhya dear .. :)
Tnx for the tips ❤️
Thank you so much Nisha🙂. glad it was helpful.
Great tips well explained. Recently I found a good gnat repellent. It's vanilla essence. I tried traps & neem spray but it didn't work. Gnats started breeding in the soil. I removed 2 inch of the upper layer of the soil and put fresh layer and kept few cotton pads with few drops of vanilla essence. It worked great. I could see the gants flying away from the cotton pads.
My FIL is a farmer I seen him making മത്തി വളം for his farm. It's very effective.
Wow never would have thought of that . Will try. Thank you manju.

Hi there, thank you for this very informative video. Didn't know there are a few varieties of this plant. I had a curry leaf plant for the longest time. I used to live in a condo and my plant had always been kept indoors. It grew to about 7 feet tall, very bushy and beautiful. Everyone who saw my plant wants to steal it :) 4 yrs ago I moved to a house and on the advice of friends, left my plant outside during the summer. In the Fall, after bringing the plant indoors, it started to have scales. I sprayed it with insecticidal soap bought from a store and my plant dried up and died!!! Have been looking to get one every since. Only last week, I was able to buy one. It is very small, about 7 inches tall and I have been taking care of it like my baby and was not intending to take it outside. Saw your video about what to do before bringing it indoors. What is your take about keep it indoors like what I did before? I live in Canada.. Thank you.
Aww, that's sad. Unfortunately, scale once present is hard to get rid of unless you are very diligent. I think it depends on seasons too. This year I had mealy bug on my jasmines. Never had it before. I heard that some indoor plants we buy at nurseries or wegmans etc might have them it seems. So we might unknowingly bring them into our house.
Hi, after issues with many pests in my plants from keeping them outdoors in the summer, I have decided to grow them indoors entirely. I'm curious since you've grown yours indoors entirely, what fertilizers did you use? Thank you!
@@ananthseshadri2318 just miracle grow or any fetilizer. I haven't been able to grow my curry plant as nice and bushy as my first one. I think it has a lot to do with enough light indoors. My new home doesn't get too much sunlight and hence, it's not growing as well as I would like it to. Good luck to you.
Thank you for the video! I am an avid curry leaf grower myself and it is great to see some one talk about Gamthi variety. I am hoping to get one next year. Do you remember where you got yours?
Thank you! Yes a lot of folks don't know about Gamthi at all. I got a small seedling from a friend.
Very nice beautiful video Thank you so much for sharing

Hi Vidya - Thanks for sharing a video with such detailed explanation! I have two questions: (1) In winter, after we move the pots inside; can we still harvest fresh leaves? (2) Do you have any friends who grow curry leaves in a greenhouse (small size)..?
Thanks a lot. Yes, you can still harvest fresh leaves when the plant is indoors. Small size greenhouse won't work for us here, too cold. But I do a have a friend who has a full fledged green house. She moves her plants to the green house instead of the house in winter.
Thanks.. informative..👍🌹
Thank you Aneesa
Very useful tips thanks I would luv to grow this plant tried earlier many times but was not successful
Thank you and best of luck
Hi vidhya chechi, very nice video. Enikum oru kunji baby curry leaf plant indu which i have inside near balcony, its a very baby plant with 3-4 thandukal and it has started to droop now and kinda dying. Any tips to help that?
Thank you Nirupama. Are you in the US? If so what gardening zone? They most likely cause is overwatering or temp difference.
Thank you so much for sharing. I have been looking to see how I can get a small plant.. I have had many plants before but due to the extreme winter, I has gone bad eventually. Thx:)
Spring is the best time to start as that will give the plant enough time to establish. 🙏
@@WhatsUrHomeStoryMalayalam this may not be the right place to ask, but still asking will you be able to send me a small stem of the curry leaf plant so that I can grow it at my home. Let me know thx:)
@@varliza not sure where you are located. If in the US please join the Indian vegetable garden Facebook group. I’m sure you will find someone local who will be able to give you a small plant.

Good information about curry plants thanks very much 🙏
Thank you!. Glad it was useful to you.
Informative video like always Vidhya 👍.. Thank you! Does the bone meal smell bad if used in plants in patio? Also do you have any reference for buying seed/ sapling in US? When is the best time to plant this?
Thanks a lot. No, bonemeal doesn't smell. Are you referring to flower seeds or desi veg seeds? Also what gardening zone are you? That plays a big role in the best time to plant.
@@WhatsUrHomeStoryMalayalam Thanks for replying 😊 I was asking about the curry leaf plant and Im in zone 10a.

Hi Vidya, Thanks for the tips! Also please do a video on indoor plant care.
Sure Resmi. Was planning on doing an indoor plant tour before I brought the outdoor plants inside but didn't happen. Thank you so much. If you liked the video please share with friends and family as well.

Well explained Vidya
Thank you so much
Very genuine way of presentation....liked your video
Thanks a lot Jo
Winter care : Use a spray bottle to spray water twice a day. Keep water in a 1” depth plate near the plant on the floor. A bucket of water with 1-2 tbs of ammonia can be used to clean the base and use a wash cloth to clean the out side of the pot before the pots are moved inside. It keeps the white flies away.
Thank you so much for sharing. Will definitely try the ammonia tip.
Very useful and detailed .
Glad you liked it. Thank you!
Thank a lot for your information.what about black spots in the leaves....
Thank you! Is it flat black spot or slightly bumpy type of spot? If it is latter then it is scale I mentioned in the video.
Thank you for the info from Toronto.

Thank you. Appreciate it.

Hello Sis, Thanks so much for your detailed video.
I recently did heavy pruning on my 2 year old curry leaf plant in spring . I don't see any new growth at all after that. It's been 4 months since and I changed the plant container also. My plant is just a stick now without any leaves. Kindly advise on how to revive my plant. Thanks 🙏
Thank you. How big was the plant when you pruned? By any chance did it dry out? 4 months after pruning if you don’t see growth then sorry most likely you have lost the plant.
Very good explanation 👍👍
thanks a lot!
Well explained 👍
Thank you Aswathy
Thank you for the English subtitles!

Great 👍🏼
One question- who would take care /water these curry leafs and garden plants when you go for a long vacation?
Thank you. We have sprinklers and some friends drop by to check on the plants.
Very helpful video.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you !
Thank you so much
You're most welcome!🙏
Thank you chechi, very informative. What is the best time to prune the plant? Do you prune it as soon as you bring it back outside in Spring or do you wait for a few weeks?
Spring is the best time to prune. I wait a week or so to prune once I kick it back outside. That way it doesn't get back to back shock.
@@WhatsUrHomeStoryMalayalam thank you
Very helpful dear👍🏻
Thank you so much Shabna!
Hi Vidya, I have two curry leaf plants and always wondered why the leaves are always down even though I water and fertilize them regularly. Thanks for explaining your observation. They both must be the dwarf variety. They are in full sun in zone 9b. Do you think moving them to a shadier spot will prevent the leaves from going down and being more flat?
I have noticed my regular variety curry leaf does that in full sun. Try moving it to a spot that get afternoon shade. I think it is something to do with that variety. The leaves are happy when my plant is indoors for winter.
Very useful video Vidya thanks dear
Thank you so much Jess. Glad it was helpful. Really appreciate if you would be kind enough to share it with friends and family.
Hello from San Antonio,Texas..an excellent video ..very well explained..lot of new information.have a doubt..I have a curry leaf plant that’s about 30 inches in height .Transferred it to a bigger pot in April this year and it slowly started getting new leaves but the problem is the leaves are not growing in size and number even after a month..only 3,4 leaf stems have grown like 4,5 inches ..most of the leaves are of the same size like when it sprouted (oru thandu nu oru inch okke ulloo length and athil chila thalir ilakk black spots und)no new sprouts coming too so that’s depressing..it’s just staying as it is ..tried some plant food from Walmart (not bone meal but the normal all purpose plant food )and I water everyday .chilappol thale naalathe kanji vellom pulippich nerppich ozhikkarundayirunnu pakshe ippo cheyyarilla...the plant is almost 2.5 years old.got it as a big plant of 20-25 inches height from a friend ..what’s the mistake I’m doing?is it because of too much watering??is it ok to sow or plant any new plants in the same pot Or the curry leaf plant pot should have only curry leaf in it?how can I get new leaves that’s bigger and healthier??should I cut these bigger leaves (4,5 inches length)for now or keep it as it is ?I know too many questions to answer ☺️😉but I’m really worried 🥺😢as I take care of my plants as my children ..Waiting for your reply.thank you so much ..once again kudos for making such an elaborate video 👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Meera. Nice to meet you here. It sounds like over watering to me. Water only when soil in the pot is dry to touch till 1 inch deep. Also since the plant is small I would refrain from using kanjivellam. Try earthworm casting or cow manure (black cow brand) or even fish fertilizer once a month.
Thank you for this informative video. Where do you live in the US? Asking just for climate comparison.
Thank you Sandhya. I’m in zone 6B, Virginia
Hi Vidya, very informative and helpful video. Thank you!Could you do one on rose plants.
Thank you Diji. You can see some of my roses in this video. ruclips.net/video/XzyYLXfCiKM/видео.html. But I'm struggling with them and had to remove many because of a virus disease. I talk about it on my english channel ruclips.net/video/RSUDvJk2zwg/видео.html. If this continues soon I won't have any roses in my garden. 😥

Thank you for the video. Very informative. What is the reason for black spots on the back of the leaves?
It is Flat black spots
Thank you so much. It most likely is fungus. Do a lot of leaves have it? If not please remove the leaves and discard. Treat the plant with an organic fungicide. Hope this is helpful.
