Not at all true I owned the exact tool years back running a shop for my buddy because he wanted his shop to have the utmost professionalism when it came down to buisness cost me 140 $ just because you haven't searched hard enough for one doesn't mean they're not out there up for grabs

My company builds armored vehicles. from 2012-2014 we rebuilt 380 of them that came back from Iraq. I ran the crew that did the 4 wheel alignments. Try getting massive tie rods apart that have spent their entire life at war in Iraq. We designed and built the vehicle and I still had to use an acetylene torch and penetrant to get them loose and even then some of them I had to use a 24" adjustable wrench and 5" cheater pipe to get some of them lose. Knowing HOW to do something doesn't always make it easier
have to break a few eggs to make an omlette custom work, non manufacture rebuilds and even OEM rebuilds all may require destroying the first to fix many.

"specialty tool" lockring wrenches for bicycle headsets and bottom brackets have been around forever and are just standard kit. Should work on this without marring the hell out of the surface finish. Get u one, they're like $10 Or you can try making a homemade one like I did. I found a pair of relatively large channel locks in the street once and ground the inner teeth down flat leaving only a square tooth protruding on each jaw at the tip. It works great and it's adjustable!
Outside mic and set of gauge blocks to check spline width would have been enough. Even a cheap digital caliper would have given sufficient measurements. Easy collet wrench. If you have a laser cutter and chose the pipe wrench then it is a hack... Call a spade a spade. Everything else was logical
I made the tool that tightened the nut and i also made the machine the puts them shocks together, and the machine that stacks the valves on the shock shaft. It was a fun project
With y'all loved that vid but I will say a simple spanner for most coilovers would get that cap off without maring the cap. Small potatoes but yeah they weren't wrong on that one
The German pronunciation would have a sound like "eye" or "aye" and the "s", well... Probably an "sh" Sound, as the "s' in the middle of a word usually has a "small" "sh" Sound... The "st" is even maybe a diphthong, the sh and t kind of slide together... But, a lot of USA folks mis-pronounce quite a few English words, so...

@@InchFab and a lot of people's vehicles you can see the shock plain as day ....on my jeep I can see the shocks as easy as I can see the driver's door and a fail like this would stick out like a sore thumb ruining the look ...also why I do all of my work myself cause there's very few truly professional shops out there ...I once had a shop build one of my engines and I paid extra for forged Pistons and they put 30dollar moresa cast pistons in it and it blew a hole in cylinder#1 piston and I sued for the full amount I had been charged for the engine to be "built" and was granted not only the price of the "built engine" but also financial compensation via having to shut down and take the time to take it back out again and send it to a different shop and the original shop had to pay for the actual professional shop to build it ...ever since then I've never let anyone other than me touch my vehicle ever

I rebuilt a shock that I had to drill. Just like yours, the head had support on the backside and couldn't be pushed down to remove the c-clip.
