Head quartermaster: “I didn’t. It’s going to such a nightmare to get everything.”
Munitorum official: “how bad can it be?”
Head quartermaster: “here. I’ve made a rough estimate of all the supplies we need immediately. I’ll show you the full list later.”
**Munitorum official faints**
Ex-Grenadier commander: “I’ll get the lads to stand by. We’ll be ready for when it goes wrong.”
Krieg officer: “you don’t trust the plan either?”
Ex-grenadier commander: “it’s a Zuehlke plan. It’s a guarantee it’ll go wrong. The only offensive he can plan correctly is the great offensive on the buffet.”

I find your claim that a 4 day bombardment by 70000 artillery units is not stealthy to be downright ridiculous.
There's nothing more stealthy than a 4 day uninterrupted artillery bombardment by 70.000 artillery pieces because there will be nobody left that can tell on you.

''krieg commanders hade levied bombardments of this size before'' , cue the song and dance of what an effort it was , and you get a nice hint of just how bad news it is if you hear krieg regiments is to be deployed in your local heresy
not to mention , when an army famed for making ramparts out of its own bodies to reach your positions , has a regiment take a moment to pick up their commanding officers body and carry it with them through an assault , you know you pissed them of and that they respected that commander beyond death

Good thing it was the Deaf Korps of Krieg handling this artillery barrage otherwise maintaining moral would be nigh impossible and also counterintuitively there would be more unnecessary sacrifices.
Ya know doing the math of each gun having 3 barrels total and can fire 1000 times for each one so they'd need 3000 shells, so 70000 × 3000 would mean they'd need 210000000 shells at least

For further perspective, google says that the allies have used 11 milion tons of artillery throughout world war 2. Tho it is unclear from my quick google search whether it's just Americans or all of allies(including the red filth) and I don't particularly care to find out. So zeuhlke here is using a quarter of that in 3 days. Nice.
During the "War to end all wars" (aka the Great War, World War 1) it has been estimated that there were about 1.75 billion artillery shells fired in total.
With a real love of massive arty formations. The Red Army are likely NOT in that 11 million number.

70k artillery pieces? Wouldn't sound impressive to soldiers of 3rd shock army of USSR. They'd just ask "Oh, time to charge at Berlin soon?"
Makes you wonder how much the krieg were modeled after the russian human wave tactics. They certainly have the non concern about casualties in common.
At this point, its kind of shocking they didnt create a whole colony and manufacturing depot on planet, I mean, the Vraks defender clearly make _some_ things on planet, why not the imperals?

Sooo... what would the bulk transports look like?
To cut to the point... if one were to transport their army or guard troops and equipment and a freeblade knight to the surface of a planet, what would it look like, cuz I want to transport any army I build "properly" annnd clearly all the alternative bits for this knight need to be a display either worked into a terrain piece (ad hoc supply drop) or just a bulk hauler.
But it should be lore accurate and there is surprisingly little info for this ancient and vast well of lore.

For the Algorithm does not care, what you comment, only that you comment, i have to say, we have to keep Arch speculating on upcoming Warhammer Games.... I´ve heard the Possible Factions for Total War Warhammer recently, while playing TWWH. And the Dev´s must have, too. Many Things Arch mentioned about implementing Factions, Heroes and more , were in the Game. Sadly the Dlc´s too. Maybe, just maybe other Dev´s of upcoming Warhammer- Games will take the opportunity and watch Arch´s speculations on their Games...
A stupid question maybe, especially since i watched the original siege of vraks series, but why didnt they just bombard the entire place from orbit? Not exterminatus, but good old orbital bombardmentto make a clean way to the basilica?
The vrax citadel had a lot of anti-voidship weaponry which made any kind of orbital bombardment a risky endeavor.
@@juliocesarcruz8893 also they wanted the place back as intact as you could at first. its kinda hard to recover arms and armored vehicles from the armories if they are a smoking hole in the ground

Your math is incomplete:
You said that the officers of krieg asked for 200,000 spare barrels and 80,000,000 shells. But if you do the math that is in fact only 400 shells per barrel.
Considering the baseline estimate of at least 1000 earth shaker shells per barrel and at least 200 bombard shells per barrel. Then in order to reach the average of 400 shells per barrel, the bombards must outnumber the earth shakers at least 3 to 1 ((1000 + 3x200)/ 4 = 400)
And as such, since at least 60,000,000 of those shells now have to be the 300kg bombard rounds. It means the bombard shells alone would weigh at least 18 megatons. more than 6 times the initial 3 megatons calculated.

If kids in year 8 speak as clearly and with as much range as arch, I would be very surprised. I teach high school and most seniors don't have the vocab and speaking range of arch
why not make some primarch or named character deep dives instead of these snoozfest battles / logistics
