Can confirm Russell Group uni thing is a myth - I think created by A-Level students? Went to UEA, loved it. Got job I wanted once I graduated, gone from maxing out my overdraft to buying a house in London - going to UEA helped, not hindered me. Some of the graduates in my team went to Russell Group and they didn't seem to enjoy uni as much as I did. I wouldn't go outside the top 30-ish if you can, though, personally because as an employer I do look at this and most universities outside the top 5 bounce around a lot (and this is more common the further down you go). I think UEA was 12th when I graduated 5 years ago and has already dropped a bit (and I'm sure will re-bound again). If you do go to a lower ranked uni, you may just have to try that bit harder to get in the door but it will happen if you persevere. Get such nostalgic feelings watching UEA videos, it really was fab there. My first housemate in London went to Cambridge and he did not enjoy it much. The only stories he had when a couple of his coursemates came round is about studying 12-16 hours a day. Really drab. I highly recommend UEA to anyone, or any university which you think you will actually enjoy despite its ranking/academics. You'll soon realise after graduation that how much fun you had outweighs academia. Norwich is lovely too, have been back for weekend trips a number of times since.
League tables are so annoying. You say employers check to see where universities are in the league tables. When I applied to UEA it was in the top 15 and now it's like 26th, and i have no control or power over that. If i graduate, considering employers do look at the top 30, it will look a lot better if UEA is 12th, but there's a chance it could be outside the top 30 (hopefully not) and this is going to go against me as a result. How is that fair? Also, people chose uni's according to how well their degree ranks, UEA is one of the top uni''s for creative writing, but when applying to a job that isn't related to creative writing, the employers won't consider this?
@@aimeegardner9736 They might consider its rank for specific subjects if what you are doing is quite specific. The top 30 is just a rough guide, wouldn't stress about it if you can put together a strong application. And then the real big deal is how you come across in interviews.

This was really useful I'm going to UEA in september as an exchange student from France I'm so excited!! I was wondering (if you know) if it's easy to get a room in the ziggurats? Or are the rooms hard to get because they are really requested?

Hi! I've only just came across your video as im applying to UEA for next year, I was wondering if any of the student accommodation have student car parking? Or is there anywhere close by that I could park my car? The train links like you were saying are not the best.
That's so exciting!! As far as I know, there isn't any student parking, but I think you may be able to ask the uni if you really need one but it probably will be quite expensive. There are roads nearby where you don't need a permit so you could park there, but I'm not sure it would be the best idea to leave it on street parking all the time xx
I am looking forward to come to UEA next semester and I am planning on staying in on campus accomodation, I was wondering how are the wardrobes/closet space like in the different accommodations? Do you know if we will have to keep our empty luggages in our room? Thank you the video was super helpful!
Hi, thank you for watching my videos! Ahh that's so exciting, I'm sure you'll love it!! The closet space is quite good I would say. I stayed in Hickling and I felt there was definitely enough storage and I still had space left in my wardrobe. I asked my friend who lived in the Ziggurats what it was like for him and he said the space was really good there too. He said the wardrobe space was good and there was also draws below his bed where he could put more clothes if needed. You will have to keep your empty luggage bags in your room as far as I know, but you should definitely have space for these. Hope that helps! x
Hey Lia, your videos are informative. I just need to know how long UEA take to issue CAS letter to international students. Any idea? Request you to please share.
Yes it’s still possible to get one of your top choices if UEA is your insurance! I’m not sure exactly how the accommodation gets arranged so probably best to contact the accommodation office through the UEA website, but some of my friends had UEA as their insurance and still got one of their top choices xx
Thanks for watching! There are lots of part time jobs available for students. There are options for work on the UEA campus such as in the bar or shop or as a student worker doing campus tours etc. Alternatively, you could get a job in the city centre in shops or restaurants. I tend to budget about £35 a week on food and then £20-£30 on activities such as going out for dinner with my friends
Thank you! There are many laundrettes around campus that students take their washing to. You will get given a laundry card when you move in and you can put money onto your card online to then use in the laundrette. There are both washing machines and tumble dryers in the laundrette

Is it possible to get into UEA's Geography or environmental science courses with only one of the reqiured A levels...that being geography....because im doing Geography, Philosophy and English lit for a levels but my heart is set on geography etc.
Yes definitely!! I think you need at least BBB and to have done one of the required subjects, so if you're doing geography that's fine! I did art, geography and biology but have never needed to know anything I learnt in biology, and a lot of my friends only did geography as the required one. Best of luck!! @@tiannavivianroberts3847 No worries at all! I asked one of my friends who does environmental science what a levels she did and the only one from the list she did was Geography so you should be fine as long as you reach the grade requirements! If you're really concerned it might be a good idea to contact UEA directly, but I shouldn't think it would be an issue and there was nothing that I learned in biology A Level that I needed for my geography degree. Awwh thank you so much that means the world!! x
@@LiaSophie Awesome! The whole course sounds amazing and your videos have been a huge help in terms of grasping the general vibe (I've also applied to live in Hickling/Barton, too)! So thank you! I'm very much looking forward to it!

And If that is convenient,I want to ask a question about the price of tripods(for camera)、reflectors.....I have no idea should I take these equipments from China or just buying them in Britain.
Hi, that’s great to hear these videos have helped you! There is quite a range of tripods to choose from, I got mine for around £25 and it does everything I wanted but there are also some more fancy ones around £70. And reflectors are around £15 for a basic set. Hope that helps!
I have applied for Msc Environmental Science. Can you tell me about the course facilities and does one get a job after this? For international students.
The course facilities are really good at UEA! There is a brand new science building that recently opened and has excellent labs and classrooms inside. The course has a focus on practical work (where possible) and tries to integrate field work too which keeps the course engaging! You can also get support finding a job and writing a CV etc. from 'Careers Central' on campus if you wish to ask for it!
Hye, I've applied for International Development at UEA and I was wondering if you knew anything about the course and how its run etc. I know you're a geography student but anything you may know would help me a lot with my decision! :)
Hey! I actually know quite a few people on international development and they seem to like it, and I did a module from dev last year which was good! It's quite a broad course as I understand it and you get a lot of optional modules and lots of geography students take dev modules too xx
I’m in the same situation that you were, but choosing between UEA and Manchester, so this video was perfect! Do you know if en suite campus accommodation is very sociable? I’ve heard that the ziggurats are the best accommodation for that but I want an en suite ahaha xx
Millie Thomas Haines I was en-suite campus in my first year and it was very sociable! All the accommodation on campus is really close together and I wouldn’t say any aren’t sociable! People tend to socialise with people all over campus as well, I often went to pres in accommodation that wasn’t my own like the ziggs! On campus no accommodation is more than 10 minutes apart really :)
The reply below pretty much sums it up! In my first year nelson court was super social as well and I went to a lot of pres there, that's why its a good idea to do clubs and stuff as well so you get to know other people and you'll end up going everywhere to socialise! xx
That’s a really good question actually I should’ve spoken about that in the video! Yes you do have to pay for the LCR but it’s really well priced considering you don’t need to get a taxi either. It’s £4 on a Tuesday (damn good night) and £6 on a Saturday (a list) and you buy them through the SU website. Damn good doesn’t usually sell out unless it’s Halloween or something so you should be okay to buy it on the day, but a list does usually sell out a couple days before so I’d buy tickets early because they’re always so easy to sell on the ticket exchange Facebook if you don’t end up going! Hope that all makes sense!! Xx
That's so exciting! I'm not sure about that specific course as I do Geography so I don't know much about other courses, so you would be better off contacting UEA directly about that. But as for the location, I really like the UEA campus! It is a good distance from the city centre (about 20 mins on the bus) and has good train links to London too!

There is a student worker drop in session on the 20th September if you would like to know any more information. Alternatively, there are so many pubs, restaurants and shops that you could apply for jobs in the city centre
Hi there, unfortunately I can't answer your question as I don't know anything about that course as I do a Geography degree. You can email the admissions office and they may be able to assist admissions@uea.ac.uk
All of the accommodation is really nice it just depends on what kind of thing you are after! The ziggurats don’t have suite bathrooms which is why I didn’t choose them. I stayed in Hickling which was lovely but the other en-suite on campus is also so nice
@@LiaSophie No lia please don't embarrass me, instead I should be the one thanking you. You have helped me a lot gaining information about UEA. I'll personally meet and thank you in 2021 when I'll join uea.
There is something called Homerun which is the official UEA way to find housing (www.homerunstudentpad.co.uk/Accommodation), I've not used it myself but it looks good and this is reliable! I used rightmove to find my second year house which I found okay, but Homerun probably is more secure xx
You can request to stay in ‘the village’ which is UEA accommodation off campus and there is another block in the city but I can’t remember what it’s called but I’m pretty sure all other accommodation that UEA provides is on campus xx

Hi, thank you for watching my videos! There are a variety of part time jobs available for students studying at UEA. You can work on campus in the shop, the su bar or on club nights. There are also opportunities to work as a student ambassador or work doing tours on open days.
Hope that helps! x
Lia Sophie thanks for the very helpful answer!!
Hey Lia, your videos are informative. I just need to know how long UEA take to issue CAS letter to international students. Any idea? Request you to please share.
Are there washing machines in the rooms (eg. in the kitchen), so you dont have to go to the ,,specialised,, place?
There are no washing machine in kitchens on campus, only in the laundretts
This video was really useful, tysm!
Thank you for watching, I'm glad you found it helpful!
UEA is my insurance, do you know if insurance students still get into good accommodation? Xx
Yes it’s still possible to get one of your top choices if UEA is your insurance! I’m not sure exactly how the accommodation gets arranged so probably best to contact the accommodation office through the UEA website, but some of my friends had UEA as their insurance and still got one of their top choices xx
Really Helpful ❤️ and can you say what about the living expenses per month @UEA and Part Time jobs
Hello visvak I will come next month in this university ....so plzzzz help me to know some information about uea and Norwich
Hello really stressing about my decision as I’ve heard UEA and norwhich isn’t very diverse what would you say ?
I would say it is quite diverse! I've not been to any other unis so don't have anything to compare it to but I would say it is diverse!
This was so useful, thank you!
Thanks for watching!! Glad you found it helpful! x
How good is it for mechanical engineering
Is the Norwich Business School good enough?
Really informative! One question, how do you deal with laundry? It's something no one really thinks about but it's quite important
Thank you! There are many laundrettes around campus that students take their washing to. You will get given a laundry card when you move in and you can put money onto your card online to then use in the laundrette. There are both washing machines and tumble dryers in the laundrette
Hey, I from India and I recieved offer for MSC PLANT genetics and crop improvement.. can i know about the detail of this course and how many recieved job after that....pleaseee help me
Is it possible to get into UEA's Geography or environmental science courses with only one of the reqiured A levels...that being geography....because im doing Geography, Philosophy and English lit for a levels but my heart is set on geography etc.
Yes definitely!! I think you need at least BBB and to have done one of the required subjects, so if you're doing geography that's fine! I did art, geography and biology but have never needed to know anything I learnt in biology, and a lot of my friends only did geography as the required one. Best of luck!! (You can find the entry requirements here: www2.uea.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/degree/detail/ba-geography?UG2021RE_part_c&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3s_4BRDPARIsAJsyoLNLvCfLx3kHnuma0a0llqTeu0cgi5EXuayEHoiJPWas0LYhYLpA5VoaAhnhEALw_wcB)
Omg thank you so much.
I've been so anxious about it even though I have a while yet until Uni...I like to plan ahead. My sixthform had a subject clash and I had to choose between biology or geography....I was so concerned that not doing biology would affect me terribly....but thank you sooooooo much you have saved me a ton of worry! New sub...your art is incredible btw, My bestfriend is doing A level art so I'll recommend your channel to her. Thanks again!
Awwh thank you so much that means the world!! x
Hi! How long does it take to walk from the campus to the town centre?
It takes around 45 minutes to walk to the city centre from campus
So excited to go to UEA this sept (fingers crossed) for english and creative writing!
gang
How exciting! Loads of my flatmates did that course last year! Hope you enjoy it
@@oscarratcliffe3151 hahaaa see you there
@@LiaSophie Awesome! The whole course sounds amazing and your videos have been a huge help in terms of grasping the general vibe (I've also applied to live in Hickling/Barton, too)! So thank you! I'm very much looking forward to it!
@@chickenmcnugget2996 I'm so glad to hear that! Best of luck with everything!
Im a new postgraduate student from China and I wanna say that your video do help me a lot to know about this university.
Hello palak .....I will come next month in this university with my wife .so plzzzz help me to know some information about uea and Norwich city .
Beautiful you and information also
I’m in the same situation that you were, but choosing between UEA and Manchester, so this video was perfect!
Omg I'm trying to choose between UEA and Manchester too!
The reply below pretty much sums it up! In my first year nelson court was super social as well and I went to a lot of pres there, that's why its a good idea to do clubs and stuff as well so you get to know other people and you'll end up going everywhere to socialise! xx
Hey Im in the ziggs.. I'm gonna miss it. It was so sociable! I would recommend if you wouldn't feel to bad sharing a toliet and shower!
Lucas Liorancas hey, are the ziggs as good as they say? Apparently you have a view of the lake and it’s gorgeous.
Is the crowd posh?
Do you have to pay for the LCR nights? Or is it just like a normal club where you just turn up?
Xx
Lia Sophie Thank you!! xx
I have an offer for Msc data science from UEA, Can you please help me know is it good option to choose UEA for it and is the location great there?
That's so exciting! I'm not sure about that specific course as I do Geography so I don't know much about other courses, so you would be better off contacting UEA directly about that. But as for the location, I really like the UEA campus! It is a good distance from the city centre (about 20 mins on the bus) and has good train links to London too!
@@LiaSophie Thanks a lot for your response
@@varshilmehta99 hello broo ...I will come next month in this university with my wife ....so plzzzz help me to know some information about uea and Norwich
I've put nottingham and UEA too!
Ahh fab! Hope you love wherever you end up going! X
Awesome ! Thank u xx
this was so useful thank you :) x
Glad you found it helpful! X
Hiii I am coming in Norwich next month so plzzzz help me to know some information about jobs and accommodation
Hi there, that's really exciting! There are lots of jobs available for students. You could apply to work in the shop or bar on campus, or become a student worker for UEA. There is a student worker drop in session on the 20th September if you would like to know any more information. Alternatively, there are so many pubs, restaurants and shops that you could apply for jobs in the city centre
I’m joining this October ☺️
That’s fantastic!! You’ll love it x
Lia Sophie ngawww but to be honest I guess I’ll get homesick most of the time XD
They’ll be times you may get homesick but keep yourself busy and you won’t even think about it! X
Lia Sophie i think you’re right. There is no perfect places, will try to adjust myself to new surroundings. But do you mind to bring me around?
@@limsarah9 hello .I will come next month in uea ....so plzzzz help me to know some information about accommodation and jobs
Could you please tell me about MSc in energy Engineering with environmental management course and it’s lab facilities as well as factory visit.
Hi there, unfortunately I can't answer your question as I don't know anything about that course as I do a Geography degree. You can email the admissions office and they may be able to assist admissions@uea.ac.uk
what is the best accommodation ?
All of the accommodation is really nice it just depends on what kind of thing you are after! The ziggurats don’t have suite bathrooms which is why I didn’t choose them. I stayed in Hickling which was lovely but the other en-suite on campus is also so nice
do they have any international restaurants like Chinese / indian
Yes there are plenty of international restaurants in the city of Norwich!
Yeah same problem was with my sd card but I fixed it. I'll send you the steps how to recover the data on your Instagram id today. All the best!
Thanks so much!
@@LiaSophie No lia please don't embarrass me, instead I should be the one thanking you. You have helped me a lot gaining information about UEA.
I'll personally meet and thank you in 2021 when I'll join uea.
Do you know any ways or reliable sources to look for accomodation outside of uni?
There is something called Homerun which is the official UEA way to find housing (www.homerunstudentpad.co.uk/Accommodation), I've not used it myself but it looks good and this is reliable! I used rightmove to find my second year house which I found okay, but Homerun probably is more secure xx
Can you request whether your accommodation is on or off campus?
You can request to stay in ‘the village’ which is UEA accommodation off campus and there is another block in the city but I can’t remember what it’s called but I’m pretty sure all other accommodation that UEA provides is on campus xx
Hey really nice informatic blog, I wish to know how abundant are part-time jobs in Norwich. I am a prospective International student. Thanks in advance. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching! There are lots of part-time jobs available in Norwich but they are also very popular with student so you have to be quick! There are options for work on campus such as in the shop or bar, and also lots of options in the city centre in shops, pubs and restaurants!
@@LiaSophie Thanks for replying.
this was so helpful thanksss
Thank you for watching!
Hi,
Your videos are so great 😃.
I am coming to UEA for my masters degree, I would like to know if there are part time jobs available in the nearby where I can manage my monthly expenses.
Thank you in advance 😊.
Hi, thank you for watching my videos!
There are a variety of part time jobs available for students studying at UEA. You can work on campus in the shop, the su bar or on club nights. There are also opportunities to work as a student ambassador or work doing tours on open days. Alternatively, there are many shops and restaurants in the city of Norwich that will recruit students, or the football club is a popular place for UEA students to work. You can get a bus straight from campus to the city that takes around 20-30 mins.
Hope this helps!
Lia Sophie Thank you for your informative response Lia 💛

can NUA students get into the campus club nights at UEA? xx
The LCR (club on campus) is meant to be for UEA students only I think, but if you know anyone from UEA then you can get in as a friend if you bring your normal ID x
Such a Nice Video. Very Informative. You look very lovely. 😊
I just received an offer from UEA. MS in Business Analytics. Also got the scholarship of 4000 pounds.
Just waiting for responses from other universities as well.
Just wondering. Heriot watt university vs uea, which one is better for MS in business analytics?
Can you ask your friend from edinburgh, I will be highly obliged. Thanks.
how about mosquitos around the lake ?
That's never been an issue as far as I'm aware

do you have any friends who study biological sciences ? what do they think? how are the lectures, teachers and resources? how is the library ? is bio sci ethnically diverse?
I’m afraid I don’t know anyone studying that course, but the library is a great place to study and has lots of resources available x
Cool😊
Hows the diversity at UEA ?
UEA is very diverse with students from all over the world coming to study here full time or for their semester abroad!
My brother goes to the UEA. XD
Hope he's enjoying it! x
how is the uni with mental health
The support at UEA is really good! They have a dedicated wellbeing team that you can talk to about any difficulties you may be having. You will also have a flat warden in first year if you are staying in halls on campus and this is someone you can go to for advice as well
