They had a cart, they just didn’t want your stuff on it. I would have been freaked out at being told I needed to sleep in that room. It’s ridiculous that you had to take time out of your trip to pursue compensation, especially after finding out the room had a history.

We had a somewhat similar experience on Oceania. My girlfriend woke up on the first morning with what, in retrospect, were bites. On the second morning we definitely had bites and immediately called our cabin steward, who called a supervisor. Within a short period of time they confirmed we had bed bugs. We had found them in the bed and under the bed, along the wall. We were immediately moved to another cabin. Like you they took everything for cleaning/sterilizing. They delivered almost everything back to our new cabin by that evening. Anything not to be sterilized they moved to our new cabin for us. We did not ask for compensation as it is entirely possible that we brought them on board. They suggested we went to Medical to get cream for them. They did not charge us. Now we check each time we check into a hotel room or cabin. It is unfortunate that Princess gave you such a run around. They should have immediately moved you and also taken care of the problem that evening. Their handling of the medical expenses is inexcusable.
You should give the cabin number so future cruisers can be on the lookout. We are sailing on Regal Princess next month. I hope it’s not our cabin! Also, wonder if there were other cabins onboard with bedbugs. They get around.
The crew making you stay in the for the 1st night is unforgivable. When the Supervisor confirmed the problem and said they would fix your problem in the morning is just crazy. Never unpack your suitcase until you do a bed check, and you get out of there if you find bed bugs. Sleep on the floor in front of guest assistance before you even think about returning to your cabin
How do you check for bed bugs? What is the black light and where do you get them. What room number was the infested one. We're going on this ship, hopefully in 2026. Cheers

Our sailing was the first one back after they were in wet dock for 3 weeks. I'm surprised they are still having engine issues, that is a bummer. I heard the change was an overnight in Roatan. I actually love when itineraries have an overnight because it gives more time to explore the port. It poured rain while we were in Roatan, so I'd love to get back there someday.

It is tough to lay blame on a cruise ship as bed bugs are mostly brought in by one passenger who may have spent one night in a cheap hotel. We just have to be lucky to be in the room being assigned. Yes, check under the mattress and cushion after you check-in.

Boy they got really lucky with you in terms of who this could happen to. The room had a history. Made you stay in that room that night? Had to actually ask for compensation? And so an excursion? If that had happened to me it would have been at least 50% of the cruise back which represents the time it sounds like it took to get this resolved and probably you were still itching, Nope Princess would not get me back after that treatment, Yes this can happen. Clearly it has in that cabin before and they did not take the proper precautions. I am betting others have had the same experience. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for your feedback. We did end up enjoying our cruise in the end, but perhaps we were a bit too lenient about the whole situation in the long run.
Princess did not handle this situation well. 😢
Agreed.
That's terrible! I'm sorry!
Thank you so much. That part was no fun but we enjoyed the rest of the cruise.
Bedbugs???? Oh heck no, one of those officers needs to give up a cabin!
I wonder if the officers are even aware of the situation.
@@retirementincolor They sure as heck would be aware of it had it been ME in your shoes! LOL there's no way i would have put up with all that constant runaround.
I'm so aorry this happened to you! We're leaving on RP on Sun & I posted about this on our FB page. I believe the admin took it down for some reason, i feel the need to warn my fellow cruisers, don't they have a right to make that decision? You were far enough away from our cabin #, I feel a little better about it. But ngl, I'm freaking out.😬
Please don't freak out because we ended up having a great time and Im sure you will too. Just be diligent and look at the bed for signs of bugs whenever you travel. Have a great time on your cruise!
@@retirementincolorI posted your video on ours & another Facebook group and I think admin took them down. You're super kind and patient, I can tell in your voices you really enjoy cruising and don't want to ruffle feathers. Thank you for warning others. Congrats on your lake home and retirement 🌞
My biggest concern is how fast they spread 😬
Thank you so much. We are very excited about our lake home. It's been a busy week but we hope to post an update video soon about the progress. Thank you also for sharing our video, even if it got taken down 😊
Bed bugs have infected smartphones! They could have crawled in to your hair dryer. This was despicable how Princess responded.
😮
You can’t let them push you around! But you did! I can’t believe you slept in that room. I’m sorry that you had such a serious incident. I would not have been discreet. They bullied you!
Lesson learned.
What cabin number? I don’t want to book any clients in that cabin
B124
I've even heard of bed bugs getting transferred on luggage while in overhead bins in flight, almost makes me want to quit traveling.
I haven't heard that. Thanks for the heads up.
it is unacceptable to not refund you 100%. i would refuse to return to that ship.
Agreed, we probably won't return to that ship.
@@retirementincolor when an overhead light bulb exploded on a cruise member's bed the entire cruise was refunded (out of dubai) it was ncl.
who wants to spend thousands to get eaten; and personally i have had all my whites ruined using cruise wash. they all turned yellow and i had to toss them. next time i will file a complaint.
So so sorry this happened to you. Absolutely terrible 😕
Thank you, we appreciate it.
I’m going on the regal in march! 😮
Inspect the mattress and sheets and don't put your luggage on the bed when unpacking.
Check the curtains mattress seams sheets everything
We will definitely be doing that from now on, that's for sure.
WTF! Go sleep on a couch in a main lobby. Take your luggage and tell everyone you see on the ship. That's bs. No, you didn't bring them. You would have noticed them in your rental. Don't commend your steward in room 1. He knew there were bugs and ignored it.
That appears to be the consensus of what we should have done.
One lady got bitten on another cruise line…🤦🏽♀️
Which cruise line?
@ Nope, ain’t telling…🤗. Merry Christmas!!! 🎄🌟
We need the room number of the room with the bed bug
B124
Yup
Oh no, I'm sorry that happened to you
Unacceptable to have to spend ONE night with bedbugs.
Agreed
Write a letter not email, phone call, write a letter and tell them and include pics if you have them.
Good idea
I would have slept in a chair and put my suitcase in the shower with the shower door closed! I would never sleep in a room with known bed bugs
Lesson learned.
Horrible customer service by Princess!!! Be discrete? That's insulting.
Yes, it was insulting and put a layer of unneeded stress on us.
@@retirementincolor they were trying to avoid a sense of panic if these two passengers told others. I think it shows they have had this issues more often than you can imagine.
Very possible...
My wife & I are cruising Regal Princess Christmas week & we are alarmed to say the least. What cabin & floor were you assigned to & thanks for this video.
@@tonyhearst5755 they don't seem to want to say...not sure why?
Ouch. That's insane. I think I would have slept on a couch in the lounge. 🥹
That appears to be the consensus but it never occurred to us.
welp, hopefully they spray the ship by the time i sail in Feb 25.
You should be fine as we believe the situation was confined to just our cabin, which hopefully is rectified by now.
@@retirementincolor in all honesty you have no way of knowing that was confined to one cabin. No way.
You are correct. We just have no knowledge or heard any other complaints so we are sharing our story.
@@retirementincolor I think they could have multiple reports and tell each one "be discrete". Someone just checked out of that cabin......they had them and did not get enough bites to report.
You carried in they are saying
That was possible but as we stated in the video, we found out that was not the case.
I was suppose to cruise tomorrow. I watched this video and then received a message saying my boarding is delayed due to ship needing deep cleaning as gastrointestinal virus contracted by passengers on previous sailing. Glad I purchased premium cancellation - I just cancelled my cruise and I'm ok with that as I feel I may have dodged a bullet
Oh yikes. We hope we didn't deter you in any way. We plan to continue cruising.
@@retirementincolor thank you for your honest reporting - when added to the other issues that have come up with cruising (services cutting back, behaviors of passengers, quality of food and entertainment, risk of sickness and or crime) I'm on the fence about future cruising.
What was the room number?
The problem has been rectified so there are no longer bugs in the room.
@@retirementincolorwhy won’t you disclose the inside cabin #? Any proof apart from the two bugs and your statements?
Terrible what was the cabin number and type of room?
B124 balcony
@@retirementincolorahhh...found it! 😮
I would have slept in a chair in front of guest services or medical …
We probably should have.
I would have a problem because a lot of my clothes are cold wash and only high heat will kill the little buggers.
A lot of our clothes were cold wash or dry clean only, but being in the middle of the situation, I didn't know how they were doing to handle that. Joe was very impressed, though, on how his suits came back.
@retirementincolor very happy it worked out. I hate bed bugs. I always do a check first thing.
That's out next cruise, can you tell me what cabin number please?
Thank you 👍
The problem has been rectified so the bugs are no longer in the room.
I am just in shocked! The treatment was horrible. You must not have any status on Princess why else would they treat you like that. I am sure if you were Elite this would not have happened. Horrible just horrible.
This was our first Princess cruise.
Bed bugs can live for a year with no food!! 🤦🏽♀️
Didn't know that!
@@retirementincolor Yep, they are truly the bugs from hell!🔥 I had a friend who I was helping out, and let her stay with me. She brought them to my home from her daughter. Short story…I ended throwing away a custom designed 🛋️ sofa, and nearly lost my mind. I was the guru on Bedbugs!!! 🤦🏽♀️
I would never take another Princess cruise! Yes, bed bugs are everywhere but the lack of concern and their treatment of you was horrible.
Agreed!
What was your room number?
B124
Every time we stay in a hotel, I won’t put my luggage on the bed, kids kind of chuckle but good to know I wasn’t wrong about that one. Lol.
I’m sorry you had that annoying experience.
I agree, if that was the first time you had so many bites; you did not bring them with you. ❤️
We also learned that when you get back, put your luggage in your garage and not the house, and then launder everything right away.
@@retirementincolor- Good to know. Thx!
If u brought them u would of had bites before u got on the ship!!!!
Exactly.
An got no compensation.
😢
They change sheets before each cruise. Umm
They don't change the mattress or the carpet though...
Google bedbugs. Once they get into a space, they work their way into every possible space, up to and including picture frames, night tables and switch plates. I always check when I stay in a hotel or cruise ship. And never put my suitcase on the bed!
Any bed bug bites to prove?
Yes, we put a picture in the video of some of them
Ewww so gross!
I know, right??
Ships have decks not Floor s
You are correct. I'm sure we've slipped up many times in our terminology during the video.
Dude looks like Graham Greene.
🤔🤔
@ Ok then. She looks Graham Greene.
NCL getaway lol
Did this happen to you on NCL?
