    They had a cart, they just didn’t want your stuff on it. I would have been freaked out at being told I needed to sleep in that room. It’s ridiculous that you had to take time out of your trip to pursue compensation,especially after finding out the room had a history.

    • @retirementincolor

      Finding out the room had a history was a catalyst of us asking for some kind of compensation.

    You definitely should write to upper management of Princess and receive full compensation as others have. It’s not fair for the way they handled the situation with you guys. You have to stand firm with management.

    We had a somewhat similar experience on Oceania. My girlfriend woke up on the first morning with what, in retrospect, were bites. On the second morning we definitely had bites and immediately called our cabin steward, who called a supervisor. Within a short period of time they confirmed we had bed bugs. We had found them in the bed and under the bed, along the wall.
    We were immediately moved to another cabin. Like you they took everything for cleaning/sterilizing. They delivered almost everything back to our new cabin by that evening. Anything not to be sterilized they moved to our new cabin for us.
    We did not ask for compensation as it is entirely possible that we brought them on board. They suggested we went to Medical to get cream for them. They did not charge us. Now we check each time we check into a hotel room or cabin.
    It is unfortunate that Princess gave you such a run around. They should have immediately moved you and also taken care of the problem that evening. Their handling of the medical expenses is inexcusable.

    You should give the cabin number so future cruisers can be on the lookout. We are sailing on Regal Princess next month. I hope it’s not our cabin! Also, wonder if there were other cabins onboard with bedbugs. They get around.

    The crew making you stay in the for the 1st night is unforgivable. When the Supervisor confirmed the problem and said they would fix your problem in the morning is just crazy.
    Never unpack your suitcase until you do a bed check, and you get out of there if you find bed bugs. Sleep on the floor in front of guest assistance before you even think about returning to your cabin

    Bed bugs are one issue. Your treatment was unacceptable. We were booked on the Regal Princess for a January cruise but cancelled when they changed the itinerary due to ongoing electrical problems. This was the same issue that kept the ship in Galveston Port for 3 weeks back in November after it arrived from its transatlantic trip. I did not feel comfortable going on a ship that has had ongoing electrical problems for 3 months. It may be time for a dry dock.

    • @retirementincolor
      @retirementincolor  15 дней назад +4

      Our sailing was the first one back after they were in wet dock for 3 weeks. I'm surprised they are still having engine issues, that is a bummer. I heard the change was an overnight in Roatan. I actually love when itineraries have an overnight because it gives more time to explore the port. It poured rain while we were in Roatan, so I'd love to get back there someday.

    • @eeg0323
      @eeg0323 15 дней назад +2

      @@retirementincolor yes there are 3 or 4 sailings where they dropped Costa Maya and inserted an overnight in Roatan to "Continue troubleshooting an electrical issue". So only 2 ports on a 7 day cruise which does not really bother me as we tend to stay on the ship as all the cruise lines go to the same ports out of Galveston and we have been to all of them so many times. it is the apparent reliability issue that concerns me.

    Okay yes it may have been a very slim possibility you brought the bed bugs in however, were you ever bitten before this night you slept in the bed? Did you take the bedding off and actually look under the mattress? If they were already under the mattress or snuggled into the corners of the mattress, then the bed bugs have already been established there before you checked in.

    You are doing a disservice to future cruisers if you do not report this to Princess Corporate. Not only does a full fumigation need to be done to that room, and surrounding ones, the lack of responsiveness and poor customer service needs to be addressed. This will shed a bad light on their reputation-esp as Princess is seen as a luxury line! At the very least you deserve a FULL refund, and probably a future cruise credit. Being assertive is not being aggressive, and you certainly had cause to advocate for yourselves.

    We had customer service issues with Princess on our last cruise in September. It was our last Princess cruise for sure and other than maybe another European river cruise I don’t think I will ever step foot on another cruise ship. We asked for compensation that offered us $20 credits each to use onboard. We told them to keep their credits. We did find bedbugs in our room when we sailed on Celebrity. Nowhere is safe from them. I itch just thinking about hotels.

      It is tough to lay blame on a cruise ship as bed bugs are mostly brought in by one passenger who may have spent one night in a cheap hotel. We just have to be lucky to be in the room being assigned. Yes, check under the mattress and cushion after you check-in.

      You are 100% correct!!
      I started cruising in 1996 and have been on SEVERAL cruises all over the world. Mostly we have cruised RCCL.
      Became Diamond members even and had MANY wonderful times; but like you said: cruising has CHANGED completely so we gave up Royal 4 years ago in favor of our 1st Princess cruise last year.
      Unlike Royal we found Princess to be more considerate of it's passengers and we were scheduled to cruise again on Regal 11/11/24 but ours and many others were canceled do to issues with the ship.
      When I started cruising it was so LOVELY, in every way. The cruiselines cared about loyalty and spared no expense making your trip memorable but lately I hear more and more about bedbugs, RUDE nasty people, fighting , drug smoke inundating others cabins or balconies, loud music,... etc,etc, etc.
      We are currently booked on the Princess Regal for an 8 day cruise departing 11/30/25.( IF) we get through this one unscathed I believe it will be our last as the whole cruise industrywide (EVERY ship, EVERY line) is becoming more and more disgusting in EVERY WAY!

    I have always checked for bed bugs . I carry a flashlight and the first thing I do is pull all the covers from one corner up and check the mattress then the seams , the headboard, under the bed too....if your in a hotel leave the top sheet on the mattress and run a hot iron over it. The best bugs will show up instantly there attracted to the warmth. I put my luggage in the bathroom tile floor or in the tub in a hotel and leave it there...I wiped my luggage before taking them inside my home and plastic cover them for storage. Kinda of a pain in the arse but 🤷‍♀️
