Really good top 10.Yes,the Uli Roth albums of the 70's are their best.I had the unbelievable opportunity to see Uli play a number of those songs in your top 10 with the Scorpions in 2007,as a special guest. The best part is that we were on the side of the stage about 12 feet from Uli and hearing his blasting vintage Marshall. Was a dream come true to see him do this stuff with the Scorpions. In no particular order: - China White - Animal Magnetism - Drifting Sun - Sails Of Charon - It All Depends - Dark Lady - Virgin Killer - Another Piece Of Meat - Can’t Live Without You - The Zoo
Interesting list. Discovered them at Animal Magnetism and like the same four you mentioned (Lovedrive, AM, Blackout, Love At First Sting). Also loved Tokyo Tapes, but never warmed up to the studio recordings of those song (Speedy's Coming and Polar Nights). My top 10: 10. Passion Rules The Game 9. Steamrock Fever 8. In Trance 7. Lovedrive 6. Always Somewhere 5. No One Like You 4. Coast To Coast 3. Don't Make No Promises 2. Arizona 1. Rock You Like A Hurricane

Hell yeah for Alien Nation! Face the Heat was very underrated. There was so many great songs on that album (7 of them): Alien Nation, No Pain No Gain, Someone To Touch, Under The Same Sun, Unholy Alliance, Woman and Daddy's Girl.
1. Catch your train 2.hold me tight 3.sail of charon 4.lifes like a river 5.we ll burn the sky 6.picture life 7.i m leaving you 8.speedys comin 9.in trance 10. Riot of your time
Like #31 and no dislikes! I enjoyed this one greatly. I am not well-versed on the Scorps. I know about them but only from hearing their stuff that they overplayed the deuces out of back in the early to mid 80s...Rock You Like a Hurricane and that era. I once heard an early 70s tune by them and was blown away. A total jam! The musicianship kind of reminded me of Purple but even had some elements that Purple didn't. So, I used this one of your videos to check out your choices. I really liked nearly every one and will listen and add to my musical base. Thank you and enjoy the holidays!
Love your channel, Pete! I also dig the Uli era of Scorps the most, although my introduction was Animal Magnetism in 1980. The guitar and vocal combination of Uli and Klaus was one of the very best ever in rock, on par with Page/Plant, Blackmore/Dio and Schenker/Mogg, IMO. And you are correct, as usual, when you ask (rhetorically) if anyone else was doing the stuff Uli was doing in the 70s. Along with Allan Holdsworth, Uli is the guy that made Eddie Van Halen stripe his skivvies, so to speak.
Never understood why their more recent offerings aren't more popular. Deep and Dark, Blood Too Hot, Your Last Song, Humanity, Love 'em or Leave 'em, Someday Is Now, You're Loving Me to Death, The Good Die Young, House of Cards, Gypsy Life, Catch Your Luck and Play, Aleyah, Mysterious, Wild Child, Stone in My Shoe, Girl... all those are awesome songs. Add in Miracle and the unreleased New Horizons as well. Best group of all time.
Very late to the party. Limiting it to ten songs is tough. But.. 1. Animal Magnetism 1. Hold Me Tight 1. 20th Century Man 1. When the Smoke Is Going Down 1. Now! 1. China White 1. Another Piece of Meat 1. In Trance 1. Lovedrive 1. Always Somewhere
1. Well Burn the Sky 2. Blackout 3. Loving you Sunday Morning 4. Steamrock Fever 5. Dont Make no Promises 6. Sails of Sharon 7. Im Leaving You 8. Cant Live Without You 9. Falling in Love 10.Pictured Life
I know everything the scorpions have released. When I say everything ... I mean it...EVERYTHING!!! I'm 51 years old and I've been listening to them for 40 whole years! I have all the vinyls, tapes, bootlegs, cd's, maxi singles, posters, concert tickets and much more stuff's. So, my list is... 10. In Search Of The Peace Of Mind 9. Evening Wind 8. The Riot Of Your Time 7. Crying Days 6. China White 5. Crossfire 4. Animal Magnetism 3. We'll Burn The Sky 2. Fly To The Rainbow 1. The Sails Of Charon HM: In Your Park, Life's Like A River, I've Got To Be Free, Can't Get Enough, Polar Nights, Hold Me Tight, Fly People Fly, Humanity, Dark Lady, Lady Starlight, In Trance, Alien Nation, They Need A Million, Dynamite, Holiday, He's A Woman - She's A Man, Yellow Raven, New Generation, Catch Your Train, Far Away
I saw Scorpions in 1979 at the Nuremberg ,Germany Open Air Fest. Battle of the bands with Molly Hatchet, Cheap Trick,AC/DC and the Who! The Scorpions were probably at their best. I used to have it on reel to reel tape.
1 - Holiday 2 - I´m Leaving You 3 - The Best Is Yet To Come 4 - Big City Nights 5 - You Give Me All I Need 6 - You And i 7 - Loving You Sunday Morning 8 -We Were Born To Fly 9 - Can´t Live Without You 10 - Bad Boys Running Wild
Can't really put them in order but I'd select those. 1.Sails Of Charon 2. In Trance 3.Yellow Raven 4. Rock You Like A Hurricane 5.Blackout 6. No One Like You 7. Still Loving You 8. The Zoo 9.China White 10. Love On The Run

You mentioned We'll Burn The Sky at number 9, but I was really surprised to not hear you mention that the lyrics to "We'll Burn the Sky" were initially a poem written by Monika Dannemann, the last girlfriend of Hendrix, as a tribute to him after he died. Later, she became involved with Scorpions' guitarist Uli Jon Roth.
Great list. Ulrich Roth's work is amazing. Love Michael's work on Lovedrive. Jabs is great too. Liked Crazy World and then what happened. They just forgot how to write good songs. Scorpions are in my top 5-7 bands ever
10. Falling in Love 9. Catch Your Train 8. Can't Live Without You 7. We'll Burn the Sky 6. China White 5. Animal Magnetism 4. In Trance 3. Dark Lady 2. Top of the Bill 1. The Sails of Charon

5:38 this melody is not from Evening Wind, it's from Yellow Raven. Otherwise really cool list, I like the 70s Scorpions stuff very much. Check out my list if you want to.
Top 10: 1: Lonesome Crow 2 Born To Touch Your Feelings 3: Pictured Life 4: Catch Your Train 5: Virgin Killer 6: We'll Burn The Sky (Tokyo Tapes Version) 7: The Zoo 8: In Trance 9: Drifting Sun 10: Dark Lady HM's: Holiday, Evevning Wind, Blackout, I'm Going Mad

Interesting choices. Longing For Fire has always been my #1. I grew up in Germany. Heard them in the 70s a lot and saw them in 1976. I do prefer the Matthias, more commercial era overall. Lovedrive through Love At First Sting is an impressive run.
@@vbassone What can I say other than MIND BLOWN. My uncle (more like a big brother as he is only a few years older than me) introduced me to bands like the Scorpions. He had tickets for a show not far from where we lived. It was general admission, and we were up close and personal. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. Not sure exactly what to tell you or what you want to know. The next time I saw them was on the Lovedrive tour. Matthias was impressive.
Love the old Uli stuff. My first Scorps album was Lovedrive, though...so it holds a special place. Always liked "Bad Boys Running Wild" from Love At First Sting, too.

I got into the Scorpions, at least heard their name, when playboy playmates kept listing ‘Scorpions’ as one of their favorite bands. I guess that helped playboy sell some future issues. I was a janitor at a combo TV/radio station once. . .The DJ talked about meeting Jimi Hendrix. He def seemed to liked playing ‘Rock you like a Hurricane’. I remember once, he said, ‘it’s OK to vacuum’ we’re off the air. Then he went on air while i was vacuuming. He said, ‘we run a clean operation here’ haha.
The Blackout album was my introduction to this band and I have never looked back since. Personally, I felt Love At First Sting was their last good complete album and could listen to nothing by them afterwards. Their 70s material was their best output!
Hi Pete. I almost always like your top 10 listings. To make them even better you should play a little bit of the song when you present it. Keep it up. //Mr. Swede 🤘🍺
A lot of great songs and some great guitarist over the bands time. Today 1) Life is too Short, 2) Wind of Change, 3) Blackout, 4) In Search of a Piece of Mind, 5) Holiday, 6) No Limit, 7) The Best is Yet to Come, 8) Delirious, 9) Pictured Life, 10) 321.

Patrick Nicolucci are you saying that RAINBOW opened for the Scorpions? When and where did you see that tour? I saw that tour in the summer of 1982 Cape Cod Coliseum and the line up was.... ROIT opening.....THE SCORPIONS in the middle...AND RAINBOW should have finnished the show but Blackmore was having a tech problem and stormed of the stage. We waited about 30- 40 after they announced that they were working on the problem and would be back out.....NEVER HAPPENED!! Only.saw 8 RAINBOW songs
Patrick Nicolucci But RAINBOW was the headliner... Cape Cod Coliseum was a great little arena...only about 5000-6000 seats including the floor.... General Admission!! Was only about 3500 people at that show?!?! Almost missed that show....car trouble...took a Greyhound bus then a cab... Made it in the nick of time......10 minutes before Showtime. After the show we walked back to the bus station, we got lost and we were walking on the highway and were stopped by a Mass. State trooper. He was real cool and ended up giving us a ride to a Howard Johnson restaurant which was 20 miles away from the bus station, but was the first stop on the bus route. The trooper even made a remark about smelling the weed we had on us. He told us he was just getting off duty and we were lucky that he just worked a 12 hour shift and was to tired to deal with it., even though he could have arrested us JUST for walking on that highway!! It was ALWAYS an adventure going to that arena!!!

I really like some of the Roth era.....Speedys Coming, Pictured Life, In Trance etc, but my fave era is the early Jabs, especially Blackout. That said my fave Scorpions is a Michael Schenker track Coast To Coast.
70's era scorpions are so underrated. i dont know why they are never mentioned in lists of metal pioneers.
I know right? 70's Scorpions were fucking masters!
Probably because lots of people think they only did power ballads, or something stupid like that
@@Kongorlobo well when you make the best power ballads that’s what people remember.

Uli's intro on Sails Of Charon is fantastic. It will always be #1 for me. Catch Your Train a close second.
My list with The Scorpions would be, 1. He´s a woman, she´s a man, 2. In Trance, 3. We´ll burn the Sky, 4. Fly to the Rainbow, 5. Woman, 6. When the Smoke is going down, 7. Holiday, 8. Under the Same sun, 9. I´m leaving you, 10. Steamrock fever

Love the Roth era but always drawn to animal magnetism. All great! So many to list.
Another great list - thank you so much! We must be roughly the same age, as I can trace my love of Scorpions exactly like you. Great job!
Uli Roth is a phenomenal guitar player but I never understood why Mathias Jabs is so underrated.
Mathias is an authentic virtuoso.
Probably cuz most people don't know of them until songs like nobody like you Rock You Like a Hurricane
because Mattias, (no offense here) is not in the same class as Uli / Michael.

Sails of Charon is my number 1 too! Such a metallic song, and the lyrics are metal as well!
This is #1 on my list. Check out the live version from Waken. Simply perfect. ruclips.net/video/4EZRN_DkN0o/видео.html

Longing For Fire has always been my #1.
I grew up in Germany. Heard them in the 70s a lot and saw them in 1976.
I do prefer the Matthias, more commercial era overall. Lovedrive through Love At First Sting is an impressive run.

What can I say other than MIND BLOWN.
@@vbassone
To be honest, I don't know. I don't remember the set list or anything. I do remember them being awesome. Uli was beyond phenomenal.
LONGING FOR FIRE has the greatest two guitar solos EVER recorded on tape. That is IT.
Love the old Uli stuff. My first Scorps album was Lovedrive, though...so it holds a special place. Always liked "Bad Boys Running Wild" from Love At First Sting, too.
Your Light is their most underrated song along with maybe I’m Leaving You.
Whole "Taken by force" album is underrated, despite at least few killer tracks...
My top 10.

I think I need to check out those 70s albums I've heard so much about
Tokyo tapes is one of if not the best live album ever. (Tied with Strangers in the night and On your feet or on your knees)
Yellow Raven from Virgin Killer my # 1
Pete, do you have the latest remastered cd versions or earlier releases of Scorpions?
The Blackout album was my introduction to this band and I have never looked back since. Personally, I felt Love At First Sting was their last good complete album and could listen to nothing by them afterwards. Their 70s material was their best output!
Great shirt.
Hi Pete. I almost always like your top 10 listings. To make them even better you should play a little bit of the song when you present it. Keep it up. //Mr. Swede 🤘🍺
Can't do that as I get into a copyright issue with the artist
@@seaoftranquilityprog Aha, got it. Pity though
Evening Wind is definitely #1 for me. It has to have one of the most beautiful guitar solos ever.

Pete Piper 1982 new haven colosseum
The Blackout tour
Pete Piper Peter I’m sorry to tell you but no at this venue they opened for the scorpions
