Nokie Edwards & I first met at the Kyoto BelAmi Club in Japan in April of 1980. He was just a guest customer at this club, & he asked me to go out & paint the down red after my performance wc we did. A wonderful person Nokie was ! Very famous in Japan . I’ll never forget him & the great time we had that night.
Watched the entire thing and this guitar has steadily improved over the decades. It used to be that if you played out just about any where you were required to play many Venture versions of a wide variety of songs. If you didn't comply, you were simply not eligible to get the 2nd week of work. Sounding like the Venture was a requirement across the USA for opening or closing many sets. That about sums it up.
Nokie is so pristine in his performance. His music is like a constant sprinkle of multicolor fresh notes overwhelming your hearing. And their rithm beat takes you to your own heartbeat roots!
My son who is a drummer this was the first drum solo he learned-and always and still does uses this sometimes as warm up-great memories for mom-still plays this for me when im at his place-WIPE OUT
We lost Bob Bogle a year or so later! Nokie Edwards is 81! Don Wilson is 84... they put instrumental guitars with a fantastic sound and creative licks and some excellent bass riffs on the map. Every guitarist started because they wanted to play like these guys! Notice they are playing "up to temple" and not missing a beat!
Losing uncle Bob was one of my saddest moments. Don’t know why, but my mom ( married into the Bogle line), uncle Bob, and I (Phillip) all had some form of cancer. Mom and I beat it, Bob did not. Uncle Bob gave me my first and best guitar a Mosrite Ventures Model Mark V.
LOVE THE VENTURES - but only after the Shadows ,who had so much more feel and personalty. The drummer , Leon Taylor, is superb and holds everything together!!!

Nokie the GOAT, his playing what CEZANNE was to Painting. Makes it easier to be a great Guitarist playing alongside that super-tight and taut rhythm section. Tightest backbeat of all time, the timing impeccable. Make a musician out of anyone.
The original drummer passed away and his son took over.....but I don't see him here. How come.....anybody know?? Not taking anything away from this drummer, because he's also great!! ;-)
Sandy changed from traditional grip to matched grip over the years. Wish I had a dime for every time they've played this. I especially like the vocals.
Back in the day, I finally reached the point that I HATED playing this. Everyone would simply expect the band to play this piece. I was necesssssssary to play it and play it well.

Bought my first good stereo with money from partime after school job....went right out and got the Ventures album...(1962) Later on someone gave me some headphones (first time I ever used those)---blew me away....
Oh those days of guitar strings explosion and invasions we are proud to listen first hand experience though their contribution is not going to fade away from us

1991年？の紅白歌合戦に出たのを見てはまった、遅れて来たファンです。それまでは「雨の御堂筋」「京都慕情」等の作曲しか知らなかったんだけど笑
