Good video. Skiing holidays are the best. We've been twice to Val'disere with the kids over the last 10 years and would love to go every year... it's just so expensive. As you say, there are other resorts that are cheaper. Roll on when my kids start paying for their own holidays!!!!!

As a family Val d isere is our favourite place as the village has lots to do and is so pretty but it was too expensive to consider this last couple of years!! And yes it definitely helps when the kids pay their way - especially for the lift passes 😬⛷️

Even though I live in the US ... and 45 minutes drive from 2 ski areas ... it was a great video with interesting information! I have skied many places in the US but never in Europe. It looks incredible!
Kudos for the "lessons" info. I have done solo and group lessons and both were beneficial ... especially transitioning from intermediate to advanced. It also helped when I moved to NW Montana where I now live ... to make friends with similar interests.
I did change to snowshoeing 15 years ago which is winter hiking to me ... usually doable with my dog and much less expensive and less people ... just my own hermit leanings. When I first moved to MT, the local areas were low key-friendly, no condos ... everything changes !
Still, look forward to the next videos. ... you never know :)

When we travelling through Montana speaking to some of the locals, particularly in Bozeman, they said how much it had changed in recent years with people moving out of California and San Francisco which was changing the feel of the towns. We will have a go at snow shoeing this year as we will have a few weeks and not feel like we have to make the most of the cost of our ski lift pass. We are getting really excited to be back in the mountains after watching the Colorado ski resorts waking up when we were out there.

@@earlyretirementwanderlust I hope you enjoy the snowshoeing! In 15 years I have had zero success converting any friends or family :( Fortunately my dog loves the snow and being out in the woods with me!

This is an awesome video, I’ve been waiting for this one. My wife and I loved skiing and had one or trips a season before having our 4 children. We own a winterised caravan and will at some point, health permitting, seek to ski using the caravan as a base. Snow/ all season tyres will be essential and some van preperation of course, I’ll follow your progress with interest!

Last year there were a couple brits in caravans skiing from the campsite and their setups looked fab. We have fitted all season tyres ready for the snow! The camp site in bourg was a great base. We may even nip up to Val d isere for a day skiing it is just the cost of the lift pass for different resorts not covered in our season pass that is a killer!

Another great video. We’ve had that parking drama before in Tignes as the van was too tall for the underground parking. Had to leave the van in the free car park at Le Brevs after dropping skis and bags at accommodation. I skied back to the van every couple of days to keep snow cleared (folding shovel) and turn the engine over. We’re still not brave enough to camp at a ski resort but it’s something we’re considering in the future having watched your vids.

My all season tyres (cross climates) have the M&S and 3 peaks symbol. Can be used throughout the alps.

We have our fingers crossed we have booked a correct height carpark. On paper it is 🧐 camping in the van for a few weeks after a week of luxury in an apartment could be interesting but we are so excited ⛷️

Yes we made sure it was an all season tyre with the 3 peaks and suitable for the alps 🚐

Hi, have you ever considered staying in an aire when skiing I believe some of them are near enough ski on ski off and as cheap as €5 per night

We use them in the summer but with no on board facilities we really want to have somewhere with warm toilets and showers. Some of them do look in amazing locations 🚐⛷️

All Season tyres aren't legal where winter tyres are mandatory in France. They must have the 3 peak symbol. All seasons don't. Chains are on top of the winters in certain areas it's not either or, if chains are proscribed its chains on winters. Winters tyre requrements are set by each region in France. Hope I am not wrong now but worth checking. Here in CH winters aren't even required but you will be hammered if you have tyres not appropriate to the conditions. We just change over in Sept, but when we had a camper we just ran full winters all the time in Ireland, where we really didn't need them, but we used it for skiing. Enjoy.

Yes we made sure we got tyres with the 3 peak symbol on so we were covered for all eventualities! Pretty sure we will be ok in the valley around bourg st Maurice but we were concerned about driving upto arc 1950.

Isn't Carte Noir coffe? Carré neige is the ski insurance and I think it's only €50 for the season so like your ski pass excellent value
