- I wanted to spread some holiday cheer so I went and gave Christmas presents to the Homeless in downtown LA, Skid Row, and Pasadena. I wanted to stay anonymous so I go by the name of The Masked Giver.
I want to inspire others to give to others and that that's what the season is all about, just like Jesus did for us.
Feel free to use the video in whatever way you like.

I've been homeless before, lived in hotels, lived in a garage once. People were so fucking nice to us, we shared our story and they gave, they shared meals with us. One time we were living in a hotel, this other guy was too. He heard our story and he's like "guys I have a rotisserie chicken in the fridge. Let's have dinner together." And we ate a rotisserie in the parking lot of a motel 6 with a perfect stranger. I work at Walmart and im nowhere near financially stable. But I want to be one day so that i can give back the same way. I remember that chicken guy and I will never forget him either.
What was the "chicken guy's" name?

Living in a hotel is not homeless. Even a cheap hotel is like $900 a month. You weren’t really homeless as you always have a roof over your head

To the comments saying "I wish more people were like him"- be like him.
Well, I wished, I could do things that are similar to this. Providing them things they really need and help them to stay safe, warm and healthy. But in my Country there are very few homeless people , it's even really hard to find one of them. But the bigger problem is: I can't afford. I don't have enough money to pay my bills and don't want to have depts. And I think there sure are more people who would like to, but can't afford.

That guy was 83 years old... imagine how long he might have been on the streets for. I should really take my education seriously so I have money to help these people. It's so heartbreaking to watch.

I was homeless for five years with no help these people are angels I'm inspired to pay it forward this Christmas.
Its a heart warming feeling when its done. Makes my day at peace and joyous and love. thanking Almighty God ...especially when ur behind someone that just has enough money for their groceries . I tell the cashier to put it on my total and the person I'm doing it for is just puzzled. Of course I ask if it's ok that I pay for it.
This made me cry. Thank you for displaying humanity, compassion and decency. NO person or pet should ever be without a home.

So beautiful! I was given a £10 Costa gift card during secret santa at work, as I was walking home I saw a homeless guy and gave it to him. I don't think he could speak english as he didnt say anything at all, but his face spoke a thousand words.
Honestly these are the best gifts as if you give homeless people money (in my experience at least) they throw it away on alcohol and drugs. Give them something that can turn their lives around- I'm telling you these food gift cards can do just that! My homeless guy saw me in the street a couple of months later and ran up to me, he was looking considerably tidier and had a massive smile on his face. He said "I wanted to thanks you" in broken english and then he used a few words and actions to explain that he had a job washing up. I assume it was at Costa but I'm not sure. Anyhow he grabbed my hand and shook it like he'd never let go.
What amazes me is that wasn't even my gift card- the generosity of my colleague who gave it in secret santa then was passed on and who knows where that line of kindness will end? Never stop giving in this world that just seems to take.

i like the trend of people asking people what they want for christmas and then giving it to them. it is much nicer than stupid trends like slime or whatever

I like it, but the catch is that a homeless person would often ask for things socially acceptable..or...you know what I mean? They know that question, in some cases, is a test, to see how 'greedy' or 'humble' they are.
Like someone asking; 'What will you do with the money' and the homeless person wants to answer; 'Buy beer' and says; 'I will feed my children and pay it forward' because otherwise you might ask for the money back. Some of them see your camera and they know what you're about to do, so they ask for big things. Or purposely small, hoping you'll add extra things for the video.
It's not genuine that way. THIS is genuine.
Also, I'd like to point out that (no offense) but many people came into this situation by making bad choices. And so, they might not be the best person to judge what they need.
A homeless person might ask for beer, for fried chicken, for money, for cornflakes/coco pops/poptarts/noodles and for new sneakers like Jordans.
What they nééééd is nailclippers, face-wipes, handkerchiefs, new underwear, socks and proper footwear. No Jordans...they need proper footwear, like walking-shoes, the kind that my mom has. That's not something a homeless person would ask for though, they'd ask for the Jordans.
And not to belittle them, but especially in the case of someone with mental health problems or addictions..you need to make the right choice for them and buy the mom-shoes.
That way, they can't (be forced to) sell them, they won't get stolen, they will have proper footwear. That is what they need.
I love you! Notice most of them said, "God bless you", God has surely blessed you with a kind and giving heart!

What breaks my heart is just seeing them out there. It’s just unfair that some ppl live really good life while some ppl live in the streets with no roof nor food. I wish that ppl would be more like you.
When one guy said he was going to be over 60 on January 2nd I thought of my niece whose going to.be 10 on January 2nd this guy lit up.these peoples day by giving them.a Xmas gift that they probably haven't gotten.in years they all appreciate the love and thought this guy had kindness really does come from the heart

It feels so good! It got me out of my depression as a young adult! Then I became homeless and I will never forget those who were kind!
This guy has a golden heart. He truly cares for the homeless people... who are in need because he selected all the items/products carefully to ensure that the christmas gifts are suited for their needs... a pillow and blanket to keep them warm, an umbrella to shield them when its raining and a starbucks gift card to sip a coffee to relax and lighten their heavy heart day. You have a kind and good heart...one day God will surely reward your good deeds.God bless you more so you can continue tobe a channel of God's blessings.

My best friend has been doing this for yeas and I didn't know. She never told anyone because she just wanted to give and not brag what kind things she did.
This year she finally told me and I loved the Idea so much that we are doing it together this christmas. And nobody else knows.... Love it ❤️
The homeless that accept items or food are always so polite and thankful. I know from experience, they always thanked me and smiled, bless them. 🤧🙏🏻

this christmas i wanted to give just a nice little something to help make someone’s day. i bought a few pairs of gloves, some benies, fluffy socks, and of corse a little bit of candy. i went downtown and thankfully it was hard to find homeless people. i gave the hats gloves, socks and candy away. i really hope that i made someone’s day. merry christmas everyone! 🎄🥳
This made me cry, when I'm able to help the homeless I mostly buy them something to eat and drink, lot of people have great ideas on how to help the homeless. Even the little things matter.
This is what Christmas is really all about. Loving and helping people less fortunate than you.

I do the very same thing, it warms my heart to give to someone in need, they truly appreciate it.
If you have a Christmas party, have everyone bring a backpack filled with things they would want or need if they were homeless. It truly makes you sit and think really hard about what you would want or need in that situation! You would be surprised at the awesome things people come up with. This is a good
Lesson for older children, Then drop the backpacks off at a homeless shelter OR pass a homeless person with a sign, hand them a backpack. It’s just a small way to help make a less fortunate person smile and know they are being thought of.

How nice to treat homeless people like the human beings that they are. I’d love to do this sometime.
I live in Canada and in the city I work in, during the COVID outbreak, since the sports arena is not able to be used, they are allowing the homeless tent city to set up outside.
They tend to leave a lot of garbage, I think the city told them you can stay if you keep it clean. They put out tons of garbage cans and set up portable toilets and hand washing stations for them and the homeless have been keeping the area clean.
They just need somewhere to stay, it makes me glad that the city is treating them fairly and humanely.

Hello I do the same in Germany, please include: toothbrush, toothpaste, hand sanitiser, masks, pads and tampons for women and please please please a whistle for women so that they grab attention when someone is trying to rape them, wet whipes and some pain killers. Pain killers are very hard to get for homeless people. They don't need much, just a view. Sleeping pads are way effective that pillows, they sit all days on the ground, most of them on their clothes or carton. They sometimes need to leave a place pretty fast, because they are not everywhere welcome, so they need effective but small package. Also please if they have dogs, buy for the dogs some food, they love their animals so much. Just a little tipp: try to find out what most of them need, its maybe different in your country. But I don't want to destroy your efforts, I am so thankfull that you do this! Thank you so much! I really hope you take my comment as a advice, not as a offend.
Yeah, I donate cat & dog food. Most of the stuff I see collected is tinned food, cereals etc but toiletries & sanitary protection is needed too. Good job my friend 😀
Good job. All positive comments, suggestions and ideas are meant to help and that helps the people they are giving to.
One thing I learned is they do need socks but prefer dark colors that hide dirt. If you can find foam tip brushes and toothpaste because some have no teeth but the foam can clean gums , teeth and tongue. Travel sized items are easier to store and carry. Clean clothing items are good - new ones they may sell for food money.
Men, clean your unwanted shoes and clothing, package neatly in plastic bag, keep them in the trunk of your car and give them out when you need. I'd rather give to them than Goodwill who will sell them. God bless all that help others. That's what we are made to do. God bless

Many people can't afford high rents and end up homeless im one of them.
