Thx for the video. For me, personally, the traveler sprinkler, is high up on the list of first things I buy to start my farm. 100% understand y u do u don't have one. U farm a much larger area than I can seen me working and u have been doing this forever compared to me. Makes sense how it will only work in some areas and not in others. Gotta think about logistics in your situation. But for me, starting out, seems like a great investment, just due to the fact that drought may b the new normal, and us in Canada, need as much growth in a short timeline as possible, will make that investment pay for itself quickly. Glad to see u had a fairly successful season. Looking forward to next year.
Yes a very important investment to make early on…i should have done that 20 years ago. I had it for the berries but not the corn and beans. I have nearly a mile of solid set aluminum hook and latch pipe and a pump but no traveler. Thanks Eric!
show that squash to your county OSU extension agent. I market vedge in Fla and our IFAS agents are amazing at diagnosing pest and plant diseases. and it's a free service.
yep,the decline of late crops is very steep.I have a couple of late tomatoes and bell pepper plants with small fruit on then, but they are doomed to languish not achieving any reasonable size or ripeness.

We’ve planted and trialed over 20 varieties in the last 13 years that I’ve used the bean harvester on and the one that always consistently does the best for us and picks the best is Valentino. This year I really liked one called dark horse, it was a really heavy producer and long straight dark beans. We are definitely going to try that one again next year.
@@wishwellfarms one last question, for your pepper plants, which was your best performer. Watching your Chanel, the pepper harvest looked super amazing!
@@bobm5408 no problem, PS 04941819 or something like that, I know the last four number are right and the other was redfish. I don’t necessarily know if it was the varieties that made the peppers so good this year. I think it was just the weather conditions because I’ve been growing these varieties for several years now. This year we purchased all of our seeds from Rupp in Wauseon, Ohio, they might be the only ones that still carry Valentino seed
We do. I opened it up in 1999. This year, 2024, was the first year We did not open it. I could list a dozen reasons why, but the short of it is, we don’t need it, our focus has been farmers markets and a second retail location over the past 15 years and that is where 95% of our income comes from. So it didn’t make sense to keep our farmstand open for 5% of our revenue and 90% of my headaches. After 24 years of customers driving through my driveway, I am ready for some more privacy in my life at my home and Farm and I would rather take our Produce to farmers markets where 1000s of people get to see it during a couple hours, quickly sell it, make bank and come home and be done.
SOME BEAN VARIETIES ARE BETTER AT SETTING ALL THE PODS AT THE SAME TIME. SUCH A SHAME TO BLOW THROUGH ALL THOSE HALF DONE PLANTS. THE BEAN YIELD JUST GOT KILLED. SHUCKS MAN
All the varieties we plant are for setting at the same time and for machine harvest, the drought is what caused all the different stages of growth on that final planting
Are you going to have enough footage to keep putting out videos for the rest of the year? Do you have your farms all lined up to visit this fall in the northeast?
good question, and I have a two part answer for you; right now I still have over 25 video ideas in the hopper after our vegetables and grain are finished for the season so I hope to work them in during November, December and January along with some farm visits in the South. However, at the same time I do hope to try and keep my personal channel going with backpacking, kayak camping and RV camping vidoes as well and that means I will be off the farm for several weeks on trips so content creation will certainly be harder for the farm channel. But by late January we'll be busy in the greenhouses getting ready for another season with lots of content flowing once again! I do plan to only release 2 farm videos per week for a few months instead of 3. Thanks for asking!
It would still be interesting to get insight for how you plan for the new season and the prep work that goes into it. We all know farming is more than soil, we just don’t know what and your honesty thus far has been incredible.
I think so, probably black rot, and come to think of it, I remember having watermelon there last year and a lot of them got belly rot, time to rotate out
@@wishwellfarms I'm curious: how will you address the fungus? Inoculate the soil? Plant an appropriately resistant cash crop? Resistant to fungi or insects, or???Cover crop? Forage? Silage?
This video reminds me of my hometown with so many beautiful memories. 💭

If you fall behind on the vegetable machine/ washer, you can always try to catch up by eating them like Lucille Ball did at the chocolate factory?
The Oxbo 2470 commercial picker picks at 1900 rpm but the speed is only .1 mph.
yeah, mine definitely picks better moving pretty slow, probably 1-1.5 mph
Where is a good place to purchase the cardboard watermelon bins ?
Fields appear clean, what is your herbicide program?

Hello there. The squash looks like a combo of black rot and bacterial spot.
Yep, we believe it's black rot and those darn cucumber beetles help spread it, fortunately we only had a few like that
