I learned more in a5 minutes of your video that in 2 hours of reading the manual. The manual tells what something does, but not in a workflow sort of way as you did. I would have liked a bit more of "..now let's go to this mode by pressing xxxxx" as a couple spots were hard to follow, at least for me, because of those few omissions. This was great!
I appreciate it, and it was very nice encouraging words. Workflow is what I look for in all gear! It is the most important thing! I have tons of other videos on gear in the same format. Feel free to look around!
Awesome tutorial. Many thanks for this. Still trying to wrap my head around its connectivity potential / capabilities, but vids like this really help. Reduces the buyers remorse considerably 😁
Thanks. Great video. Am I right in thinking there is no step sequncing as in the KSP. So one cannot just enter notes one at a time and playhead records each one and automaticly moves to the next poition?
Thanks Ron, I don't have any hardware apart from the SL, so getting it to work by sequencing in the SL but controlling multiple VSTs through Ableton would be a real game changer for me. InControl's great, but then you don't get to use the sequencing on the SL.
@netyoda that's possible. Set every track with a vst you want to control to only receive input from 1 midi channel instead of 'all channels' in ableton, set the midi channel on the templates of each SL track to the ones you chose in ableton. Each SL track controls one (or multiple) VSTs
how does this compare to the keystep pro besides the size? could this be used to run a whole OTB setup? or is it more a software/daw controller with a sequencer slapped in there?
Awesome video! I also have this controller and didn't know it was possible to transpose. I bought a bunch of gear and have a lot to learn. Thanks a million ☺
@@xisotopex I use both, deluge as my main sequencer which has way less limitations, but I do use secondary sequencers because I get different results. Sometimes I want to just enter in notes with the remote sl and then record it in to deluge, because deluge has unlimited track length. This way I can time out things and even improvise the base structure easily in to deluge. Feel free to watch the deluge videos to see if it fits how you want to work. It's best for me, but always room to use other sequencers for different results, recorded in deluge.
@@RonCavagnaro I have watched some of your deluge vids, helped me get up to speed on it. haven't used the sl mk3 for anything but a midi keyboard so I have to decide if I am going to keep it or not. definitely going to keep the deluge.
1. More than Sixteen steps: Chain patterns. Hold first pattern press the last one you want it to loop. 2. Quantize on off: Shift and record to quantize, shift record to record microstep, each pad will have six microstep.
I think there is everything i need for sequencing. Only one thing im looking for, but i dont find on any sequencer... When you hold a pad to place a pressed note in the sequence. Do you have an option to pre-set the note length or it will place a short note length? If you want to place the notes with longer lengths you have to set one by one for every step afterwards? Or the sequencer can analyze how long you hold the note while sequence playing?
Thanks for making these my guy. I recommend any one watching to examine his tutorials in reverse and consume at a macro level. Very helpful I can’t wait to try out your discoveries! I noticed when you do pattern view shift you ping pong against 3 sequences. I can see 3 other sequences being VERY LONG while they are “generative and very low probability to play” and you doing your movement of “unpredictable triples” I myself would not CAKE everything with reverb lol, BUT I WILL ADMIT I would burn everything by having the resonance self oscillating ALL THE TIME. I am evil too just not exactly the same evil. Is it illegal for me to ask why you made these tutorials? I hope you consistent and ongoing success to any adventure you want to try out.
Thanks haha I use reverb so much because I'm into shoegaze/dream pop type genres. Not sure if that would be considered as evil haha! Why did I make the tutorials? Because people like them and RUclips pays me!
I have not experienced this. I am using my deluge to be the master clock however. I haven't had any problems with this. It's really great but I do recommend considering using another sequencer to get by the limitations of the keyboard.
@@RonCavagnaro I appreciate the response. I am a music teacher and would definitely use many features on this. I just hope I don't buy this then Novation comes out with a MK4 next year lol.

You have to hold the pad down and then play notes to step sequence? You can’t use both hands to step sequence chords ?

can the forwards/backwards/random be automated?
