    FTM 2019 does not seem to have a Witnesses Feature, how can I show who was at a person's marriage and what Role they played i.e. person who married them, bridesmaids etc or who was present at a persons burial.

      Hi, Mary. Thanks for reaching out. We're happy to help you with questions regarding our new 'Home' page. We do have an Ancestry RUclips channel you can look at. There is one on Feb. 2022 which is titled 'Homepage layout as of Feb 2022.' You could search for that on RUclips. There have been changes since that day however.

    Great presentation - unfortunately viewing 11 years later!! I have ancestors from rural SE Louisiana. Notorious for cousin intermarriages. The original Burat couple appears SIX times in my tree. Have you come across an instance with this message in FTM "These people cannot be attached because one of them is already a direct relationship of the other". So cannot detach/attach. Kinship report shows them as father/daughter but on daughter page her parents are blank! On father/mother page, she's there! Crazy. Tried FTM chat with no fixes.

    I have an instance of a child born to a cousin. I want to record this but the mother has not told anyone and does not want it publicly known. Can I record this information yet not have it appear on a tree for the family? Also same question regarding an early marriage that produced a child later adopted but very hurtful to mother and not wanted public.

    how does one have the divorce couple show up on the line for family tree maker. Like how married people have a regular line; a divorced couple has a slash in their line; and dating has a dotted line

    Crista, just wondering how you KNOW if there is an adoption in your tree. I have gone back up to 6 generations and there is no evidence of adoptions occurring.

    Crista -- I am in a second marriage with 3 biological children and 3 step children. Ditto for my second wife Susan. When I follow your approach (for Ancestry.com), I can add myself as stepfather to Susan's children and I can add Susan as stepmother for my children. That is all well and good and our family shows up OK on my profile page or Susan's. The strange thing: if I look at the profile page of any of the 6 children and click on siblings, the 3 step siblings are listed as "Half Siblings". What have I done wrong? There should be "Step Siblings" and not "Half Siblings". Thanks.

      Thanks for the question, Coltin. Building a family tree is a personal project, so you can add any information you wish (as long as it follows our community guidelines).

    I'm adding a child born out of wedlock with the parents. I've adjust the parents relationship as "single" and status as "none". Why do the parents display as "spouses" when they were never married? Can that be changed?

    • @AncestryUS
      @AncestryUS  4 года назад +1

      Hello Angela, Parents will be listed as "spouse" on their respective profile pages as long as you have entered them as such regardless of what you enter into the relationship status field. If you do not want them to appear as such, go into the Edit Relationship screen for one of them and click the giant X next to the spouse name. This will retain the relationship of each of them as the parent of the child but remove them as related to each other.

    how do you enter divorce in the online software when you don't know the date of the divorce

    • @AncestryUS
      @AncestryUS  6 лет назад

      Can you approximate the date? If so, then you can put in a divorce fact with, for example, a date of "abt 1927."

    Thanks for the great information. I found the divorce facts but could never figure out how to specify the adoption and divorces. The question I have is how do I make this information print out in the reports? I found that if I filled out the married field with "Not Married", the reports reflects this information: "She never married (1) . She married (2) ..." etc.
    But I can't get the relation ship to show up on the reports... Something like she married (1) - divorced.
    I have to go find the adoptions, and fix them like you showed. Do both the biological and adoptive parents show up for these children?

    How do you add stepparents to a ancestry tree?

    • @AncestryUS
      @AncestryUS  5 лет назад

      You just add them as a new spouse to your parent.

    I would like to also show my father's foster parents in my tree. If this is possible how is it done

    • @AncestryUS
      @AncestryUS  7 лет назад

      Go to your father's profile in the tree. Click on EDIT | EDIT RELATIONSHIPS. You can then add a mother and a father and set the relationship type as you choose.

    How did I get the family lines not correlating to all their children? The father's line goes to some children and mother's goes to others. But they are all biological children! I goofed somehow, but where?

    • @AncestryUS
      @AncestryUS  4 года назад

      Go into the profile's for each of the children. Click on EDIT | Edit Relationships. Click to ADD Father or Mother. Then, instead of adding them as a new person, select them as a person already in the tree. This should clear that up.

    Problem-marriage, one child, divorce then need to add second marriage to same person, two children then divorce again.

    • @AncestryUS
      @AncestryUS  7 лет назад +1

      Were you asking a question? You can add a 2nd spouse and add the children from that relationship.

  • @barbaranewsom3983

    My problem is the second marriage and divorce is to the same person.

    • @AncestryUS

      You can just add a divorce and another marriage fact to the timeline. You do not need to add the person a second time.
