awesome video as always, I'd rather see it graded than closed! Hurricane creek has taken a beating with all the offroad clubs treating it like a free windrock
The fact that a road whose purpose is to provide ingress and egress to those property owners who own property on the road was graded is a non-issue, or should be, the fact that anyone would be opposed to that is disheartening. As an avid off road enthusiast for over 50 years I've seen far too many closures due to increased upkeep due to overuse.
It needed to be done. With the sharp increase is usage over the last several years, the trail was really taking a beating. As high-traffic as it is, it'll be rutted back out within a year or two.
Man that's wild. Hurricane was so much fun in my stock Grand Cherokee. I came through so many times and had to hop into the woods so the jeep crowds could go by. I'm sure it will be back soon though.
We were there in mid-May as well and it was not graded yet. Definitely a much more tame ride now. I’m sure time will change it as you noted. It’s still a pretty trail with a few water crossings. Thanks for sharing.
You should have gone into greene county,tn and drove on horse creek. It probably has not been graded yet. It runs off of the greenevill/ tusculum hwy up to Viking mountain. They graded the access road that runs 10 miles from hwy 107 in Erwin up to beauty spot. I drove on it last Easter Sunday. You could have also gone up onto rich mountain located above hot springs ,nc and driven on hurricane gap logging road.
I always wondered when I watched Hurricane Creek videos of that trail/road was part of mostly used for residents in the area and as a fire road. I wonder if the county or the residents had the road graded. Either or, I look forward to drive the trail someday. Thanks for sharing 👍
@@itsaboutfam there are some nice weekend cabins up there. Every now and then I see a truck or jeep parked there. Last year there was a fire and the road was closed so fire service can do a fire break.
@@WolfOverland That makes sense to maintaining the trail. I know some may not like that the trail was grated but it's better than it being completely closed. I saw another video recently that looks like some folks that ran that trail were doing things that would ruin it for others.
@@RichardVac thanks for watching! Right now we think hurricane creek is totally gone with the flooding. I will check it out in a few weeks when it calms down up there.
I still say a proper air/oil cooler would help a ton. The stock stack coolant/oil cooler is just not adequate for these engines with the loads we put on them after modifications.
My pro's and con's (trying to be positive here). Cons- they damaged trees while leveling the trail? Not what one would expect from the state. Cons- not super challenging any more but also likely more slick when soaking wet especially since all the dirt is above the rocks. Cons - possible that non responsible individuals with only two wheel drive vehicles might go out there on weekend nights and pollute the campsites with cans, trash, condoms, and more and ruin it for the rest of us. PROS - leveling out the trail pushed dirt back to the edges and will make it a little safer and likely give us a little more footprint for the run off to make new challenges. PROS- It's still a great little trail for the colors in the fall especially if you time it just right. PROS- as you stated, better level than closed.
@@PuddlepirateZ144 I hope so too! It’s such a pretty road! The more they grade it the more it stays open so we all can enjoy and more people can get back there to enjoy it!
While disappointing, they could have made it alot smoother. So I'm glad they didn't fix it up to Prius passable. Like they did Bells Mtn in GA. Now that used to be a nice road!
@epicvehicleoutfitters sells them. You can buy them direct too, but I like supporting small shops. epic-4wd.com/en-us/products/trailhead-automatic-tire-deflators-5-20-psi
They Graded it that sucks. I live here and ran threw there a month ago and it was like it's always been. They took Telco from us years ago and now Hurricane Creek. Thanks for the Video even if it's disappointing.
Thanks for watching! Again it’s not taken away but saved from being closed. Like Charlie’s creek trail it will slowly get rutted out again. I think of it as a save.

Yes! That one off camber section at the end needed it bad. I’m glad they fixed it
Let’s keep it that way for the people who have property there. 👍

Great video and thanks for the trail update guys!
The state does that every so many years. It’s meant as a FS road not a wheeling trail.
Yep. Better have it flat then closed!

Tanks for the share, wife was very happy to meet you all.
Nice video 😀
Why do people air down to drive this trail. This is/was doable with a stock 4x4 Tacoma on 31’s
Airing down make for a much smoother ride with better tire squish
I think for a softer ride quality
It used to be pretty gnarly in there theyve been doing work back in there.

All you need is an AWD to get through. Maybe in a few more years, it will get more challenging

There were no houses around the technical parts. They are all at the bottom of the trail.
