V twin cruiser is normally equipped with belt pulley transmission due to the shock load from V twin engine is insensitive to the transmission. And a modern parallel twin engine produces much less shock load and vibration, a chain transmission can be applied, such as Kawasaki Vulcan S and Honda Rebel series.
