Going to add something else here. Sorry that I keep posting here, but I do love this music SO much! Want to thank you, James, personally for keeping this beautiful, melodious and touching music from years gone by alive and well for new generations to hear. This music is enchanting and some of the best songs ever written occurred in that time period. Thank you for not allowing this music to be stored away somewhere and forgotten.
When I was 4 years old I used to carry around your cassette tape and tell people that you were my boyfriend. I’m now 52 and grateful for your music and the role it has played in my life. You are a comfort source. Thank you.
I've never stopped listening to this guy since the 70s when I was in my teens. His music is part of the soundtrack of my life. And he just comes up with music that grows with you.
my brother had this by Nat King Cole on a 45. I was very young (7-8) and I would play it over and over. Flip side was Papa Loves Mambo, made me giggle.
Gotta love that bosa-nova sound of this song Can't help but move in that movement!! I just love that James obviously loves what he does tremendously. The way he smiles when he's singing and just sitting and playing his guitar is completely enchanting! Thank you James for sharing your God-given talent with the whole world. You've touched us, consoled us and remind me us all to reach out to others with kindness and love. Thanks for making this world a much better place!
That's nice to hear from you the is great we all and so nice to hear from you soon thank you for your service and support you been giving the military army and also the especially if come to this james Taylor and is the best thank you ❤️💞😘
No one plays or sings or can tell a story like James Taylor. Australia's Paul Kelly has the same ballad story-telling ability. Their musicality paints images. An audio-prescription, guaranteed to heal and sooth a challenged soul.
Simply precious this "rumba bolero". We will be dancing each time we listen to it everywhere. Thank you so much, James! So much talented people playing this "bonita" song. Love & Blessings from Spain to you and your wonderful family & folks.
How are you doing Today Rumba bolero? Its really nice having you on here .. I saw your profile on here and i think we definitely are on the same page on many levels. Trust, communication, loving, honoring, understanding, patience and respecting your partner. So crucial to provide balance. This is what creates such great chemistry between two people that are committed to one another.
That's nice to hear from you the is great we all and so nice to hear from you soon thank you for your service and support you been giving the military army
I want James to know that he is the only singer that can stop me in my tracks to listen. His music reaches my soul and helps me feel life is beautiful. Thank you for your beautiful voice and lyrics. My mother played your music to get me to sleep. Fan of yours over 50 years.
Here's another jewel from James you know... With that special feel and flow and glow... Soft and velvet as new-fallen snow... Treat us tonight! ( with your song) One thing is so very clear my love... James is gifted form The LORD above.... Hearts are soaring like a re- leased dove... Treat us tonight!! Thank You JT!!! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
On ‘Teach Me Tonight’ seeing James chopping his own kindling just shows me what an unpretentious man he really is. He is truly a National Treasure. We love you James. Hope to see you and Jackson when you’re back on the road. 💖🙏🏽💖
Wow classic That's nice to hear from you the is great we all and so nice to hear from you soon thank you for your service and support you been giving the military army
I listened to you in jr hi, hs,& college, you helped me to get a singing scholarship. I have been singing with you for almost 50 yrs. I visited the vineyard hoping to bump into u in idk 1983, ive missed you. You are my number one James. The icy on the cake . The cats meow. The bees knees.
WOW - WOW WOW -- I came across this recording of James Taylor and his amazing God given gift. I couldn't understand why this version of 'Teach Me Tonight' touched me so deeply. I knew this standard, usually heard it performed with a 12/8 feel, enjoyed the 'wink' of the lyrics... so why the reaction? Aside from the exquisite timbre of James' voice, his unique, melodic guitar picking and spot on, Latin-groove arrangement, there was something deeper. What was it? I finally realized it's because throughout my entire career in the music business, I have worked alongside Philadelphia's finest Jazz musicians, each of whom could have easily sat in any chair in this clip. This arrangement is just delicious. Just had to share my thoughts. (Also, being in the film business, too, the edit is fantastic)
Well-expressed. Want to hear something else James Taylor related that's amazing? There was a Tribute to James Taylor concert with various artists covering his songs and with James in the audience. It has aired, I believe, on PBS. Alison Krauss & Union Station cover "Carolina In My Mind." The transformation of the song to what feels like a slower and steadier meter and with different instrumentation is so affecting. James Taylor definitely approved, as he shows at the very end. ruclips.net/video/KjGcIhxGP3c/видео.html
That's nice to hear from you the is great we all and so nice to hear from you soon thank you for your service and support you been giving the military army
I am a great music fan with a wide range of tastes. I learn the guitar playing James Taylor 40 years ago, then went on to playing modern jazz ( parker, coltrane, davis. montgomery etc)...now I am back to my roots - I think James Taylor has the more beautifully unique voice tone in the entire world...and it's amazing that it still sounds great to me today - better with age
James Taylor, my first concert. I believe it was Avery Fisher Hall, NYC. It was my older sisters birthday and my dad had gotten her 4 tickets. One of her friends took ill that day and could not attend. My dad said "take your brother" which she begrudgingly did. I was 12 or 13. I'll never forget it. Among the memories is his bringing out Carly, with her nearly debilitating stage fright. I think they sang Mockingbird? Maybe? I'm 61 now, so...I"ve never stopped listening to him and my wife and I used "That's Why I'm here" for our wedding song. And so it goes...
I aasn't getting support at home. so when you reached out I was thrilled and felt supported and felt you really cared. I started having feelings for you in that decency.. you were a decent man.
First heard James Taylor on my car radio while driving at night in downtown Nashville - Fire and Rain. I was blown away. His music has a way of making me smile. Keep going, my friend!
Feel the need to add something here. It's so refreshing and wonderful to see an artist who doesn't feel the need to have loud electric guitars, hip-hop banging drums or some type of modern technological machine when performing. It's sweet that for most of this song it's just James and his guitar. There is a part where some brass instruments come in and some bongos are played, but neither are blaringly loud. Just a soft, sweet rendition of a beautiful song from the past! Thanks, James!!
Dear James, I'm nearly 60, and I've been in love with your music, and you, to be honest, from my teenage years and since. I'm at that time where one often considers one's life and mortality. Please don't go before I do! I'd be broken.
Ditto! I’m 66- in love with James and your music since freshman year of high school! Enjoyed many a concert in the New York area- always feel blessed to hear him!
A one of a kind treasure and a talent beyond measure, James Taylor !!! A day does not go by that I don't sit and play my guitar or bass along with his incredible video and musical library !!!

Stunning song with the usual virtuoso picking and gorgeous chord changes. But James, get a log splitter. Your hands a too important, not to mention your back!
Todd Robinson exactly. He should not over-use those priceless fingers & hands to work. Part of my life I pulled boards at a lumber mill (single-mom-needing a high paying man’s job)... my thumbs are so bad. Hurt constantly the last couple years. 🥴🤭🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ But he’s a strong but sensitive man. Oh to find a man like James would be a dream come true! 😊😍🥰
I always wanted to sit at a table with JT caressing my ears with his superb guitar, lyrics and calming voice. This is as close as I’ll get! Thanks so much for a lifetime of superb music James.
If u havent seen this living legend live....treat urself. The only mellow musician that can somehow hold the attention of enormous shed crowds. Truly amazing.
I read Will Morrison's comment below after listening to Taylor's inspired rendition of Teach Me Tonight. I too was at Denver's Red Rocks in 76 for that concert, it was amazingly fulfilling. Interesting that in 1976 Phoebe Snow also did a very fine recording of this song. Lucky to have JT still sharing with us.
That voice just gets better all the time. It curls my toes! And his version of this - one of my favorite standards - feels like wrapping a cashmere blanket around yourself and snuggling up on the couch: super warm and soft...
JAMES TAYLOR - Teach Me Tonight James Taylor's Facebook page just shared with fans this song, included on a special "Acoustic Summer" playlist at Spotify. Compelled to leave my favorite living singer/songwriter a note. "TEACH ME TONIGHT: Listening to James Taylor's latest rendition (2020) of this great old song -- as if for the first time, and hearing things I never heard before! Around the :50 second mark, where the melody takes off in a new direction for the song's bridge -- that glorious middle part, which James Taylor makes all his own. You'd swear James wrote it. The melodist, Gene de Paul would have loved what JT and co-arranger "for two guitars" John Pizzarelli accomplished on that middle part -- at the words: "For the sky above you is a blackboard and if a shooting star goes by, I'll use that star to write "I LOVE YOU" a thousand times across the sky . . . " A note for those who still care to ask, Who wrote that song? Gene de Paul was working in 1953 with Johnny Mercer (on the movie 'Seven Brides For Seven Brothers') when he offered Johnny the first opportunity to compose the words: Mercer, arguably America's greatest non-theatrical lyricist, couldn't do a thing with the tune. Gene offered it to Sammy Cahn -- Hollywood's go-to wordsmith (26 times Oscar-nominated) and the result -- this great song, recorded by every great singer ever since. For my money, this most recent version is the best-ever. Thanks for sharing James Taylor. Celebrated this day at Sinatra Family - Forum - Siriusly Sinatra - MY FAVORITE VERSION, YOURS TOO? sinatrafamily.com/forum/showthread.php/50225-My-Favorite-Version-%28yours-too-%29?p=1291628#post1291628
Dear God (I say it reverently) check out James Taylor's recapitulation of OCTOBER ROAD "special edition" (track 7 - above). I close my eyes and imagine the impact this rendition of a JT song you THOUGHT you knew, would have had if, say, THE BAND had recorded it, exactly like this. It would have been one of their classics or 'encore' songs. Of course James himself is singing the three-part harmony! And the funky instrumentation that slowly fades with that superb fiddle (wonder who?) at the close. When was this recorded, I wonder? What's the story? Yes, just in case you look at that song title and think -- Oh, I know THAT one. Oh no you don't!
JT was always great though he has just gotten better and better over the years. Can't wait for this album. It'll be an instant classic, for sure. Thank you Mr T and well done over all these years, bringing us all so much pleasure; sometimes in our darkest hours when we needed you most. God bless
one voice, one guitar, minimal back up and one perfect song - acoustic music doesn't get ANY better than this!
Mate. I totally agree! Seen JT in Sydney in the 80's , he was sensational., simple superb.
America does some things right, James is one of the best examples of it.

Real talent is the only talent! No electronic, cornball Voiceover, no gimmicks, just James Taylor and his tremendous talent! Great job, JT!
Si,es muy bueno en las llamadas que hace en esta pieza, tremendo arreglo .
This is a great song
This man who many considered a diamond in the rough, is now a polished gem; a treasure for us to behold.
James Taylor is one of the most perfect, yet emotionally strong, performers I ever seen.
And I've seen quite a lot!
A diamond is always a diamond💜
James Taylor was never considered anything short of a gift.
Well said.:-)
Why was he called a 'diamond in the rough'. Was it to do with drugs? Xx
James Taylor and Carole King, two of the best things to ever come out of the US.
The world! Not only US!

Yes, but I knew a 103-year-old man who chopped wood in his back yard. He ignored counsel and did whatever he wanted at that age!
