    Great to see Kate here - I don't know how I missed this one "live." Mention of the Troyanos Santuzza . . . she was nuts the way she flung herself down those stairs, then grabbed her stomach/baby. The story of the day she died is one of the most moving "departures" from the earth I've ever read of. Handel, Monteverdi, Mozart, Verdi, Wagner, Bellini, Strauss . . . Kate is that same kind of singer!
    Then Christa Ludwig. Sigh. I'm in mezzo heaven!
